Will Rob Van Dam ever be TNA Champion?

Mr. TM

Throwing a tantrum
I am sitting here watching iMPACT and Rob Van Dam is having a promo against AJ Styles. It seems like either he or Jeff Hardy will challenge AJ Styles for the TNA title.

Last time RVD was in a promotion that was trying to build up against the major corporation (ECW against WWF/WCW) he would never win the ECW World Title, despite being the biggest draw on the show, and easily capable of winning the title. But he never wanted himself as champion, instead giving the shot to others.

Now TNA has RVD in it, will he once again take this stance and never be champion? There are so many talented people in TNA at the moment, so I doubt he will ever take it, instead making all the contendors look like gold.

Edit: Answered this week on Impact, take all discussion to the OFFICIAL RVD CHAMPION Thread

i really dont know...
on one hand rvd has been champion in the wwe and he was wwe and ecw champion at the same time
but you are right, he didnt want to be champion when he was in ecw apparently....
also remembe that rvd came to tna because of the schedule... i think the champion of the second bigget wrestling company in the us its gonna get used....a lot so i dont know
as a fan ....who can you honestly say its as over (please no hogan championship reign in the future) and who can honestly put on great matches on a consitant basis (sorry christopher daniels) better than RVD??

lol i'm not making a comment because the match is on right now but I'd love to see RVD with gold on his waist. But after last night AND a match earlier tonight, I don't see him winning it storyline wise. He did say he wanted a light schedule so unless he's changed his mind, he shouldn't WANT to win tonight. I'm guessing since hogan made RVD fight so much in 24 hours that hogan is gonna even up the pen thing from last night and screw AJ

I'd like to see RVD as the TNA champion mostly because I'm an RVD fan and I like to see wrestlers that I like win titles.

As far as it actually happening? I dunno. It would make sense, he's a big name and can draw fans but he is picky about his schedule and the World Champion needs to be at the house shows because fans pay to watch the World Champ wrestle and if Rob isn't willing to play ball and agree to more dates I don't see him winning the strap.

While the other company was making pee-pee jokes, wrestling was happening on the other channel. And oh yeah, the answer to your question is the winner of the main event and NEW TNA HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION OF THE WORLD, "THE WHOLE F'N SHOW!" ROB VAN DAM!

Honestly I'm EXTATIC about it. I'm a die-hard AJ fan but he was getting stale with the title. This is great for both him and RVD. Gotta say, that title looked SWEET on RVD.

P.S: LMAO @ DiscipleofWrestling's comment about the pee-pee jokes.

I feel bad for you starting what would have made a good discussion moments before the outcome of the title match happened live on impact. I've had negative rep for revealing spoilers before... but does that count when it's live and not taped?

Apparently. And I have to say that switching back and forth between Raw and Impact was embarrassing for Raw. Raw had a guest host from a sure to fail movie while TNA had a big return. And then a new champion was crowned while an old gimmick who returns every 5 weeks returned. I was really rooting for Raw to switch things up tonight but it's just more of the same. Too bad.

Also, I really hope RVD gets new music. That is the worst POS "song" I've ever heard. It's so bad the Black Eyed Peas should sing it.

I really loved the match. RVD and AJ work perfectly together but I just think it was too soon for him to have the title, especially when they're ratings are in the shitter and what not. RVD should have won the belt around a time where they really needed to defeat RAW. They could have beat RAW even if they didn't have RVD win the belt.

Very stupid, but very entertaining nonetheless.

Can any one shed light on why my comments were removed? I didn't say any thing about the outcome until the match ended. It was live so I didn't know ahead of time. The WZ main page has live coverage of all the shows and PPVs....I bet it was that Lee guy lol

let's hope that the only reason, RAW today is not so good is because almost all the RAW roster is in Europe because this is not looking good for WWE today. I like the CM Punk promo and the Undertaker/Swagger match isn't bad, but so far so bad. That McGrover or whatever character is REALLY annoying, he "blew" up R-Truth, this isn't the Road Runner/Coyote cartoon, this is Wrestling.
And oh yeah, the answer to your question is the winner of the main event and NEW TNA HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION OF THE WORLD, "THE WHOLE F'N SHOW!" ROB VAN DAM!
Well the answer to your question, YES!!! I like this move, first off, it's shocking. I thought maybe, somehow, someway RVD would be cheated, but he wasn't, he beat AJ Flai....i mean AJ Styles, don't get me wrong, i like his heel character, BUT i don't like the AJ robe, they should've just had him a cocky heel with Flair managing him, but RVD as champion is a complete shock and it's a good move, he's a big fan favorite and he can go in the ring.

This actually gives TNA even more steam going forward. Though I do tend to hate some of the things that happen on the show they followed up what cant be denied was a really really really good ppv, with a match of the year quality match, with a solid live show. Aside from the knockouts match and the horrible Rob Terry attempts to lift Wolfe above his head (which he successfully failed at doing twice) the show was good.

If RVD commits and adds more dates the crowd reaction this guy got last night twice plus tonight TWICE even getting more pop than Hardy TNA has seemingly struck gold. Though their not going to overtake WWE obviously, this is a HUGE step forward that opens up more potential story lines. I mean we all have lost faith in Samoa Joe but nobody can deny the idea of Joe vs. RVD has a ton of promise

Noww the ? is is RVD a transitional champ or will he have a run till somebody else (probably abyss when he goes heel) have a big feud with him.

Well I have to say: I would agree with all of that except for the losing faith in Samoa Joe. You do realize that the guy is everything that Angle is and some of what he is not, and one of the thing he is not is sane. Joe is a guy that can carry the work load and pretty much carry the company on his shoulders. He's a mixture of Yokozuna's menace, Tazz's intensity, Rikishi's athletism, and Kurt Angle's talent with a bash of the drawing power that guys like Rhyno, Raven, Tommy Dreamer, and anyone from ECW have. This guy alone is absolutely amazing and I find him going against RVD in the future in an amazing match.

As far as RVD being champion, I have to say that I don't see it going on for too long. Once RVD keeps the title after the next PPV, then any hope for a momentous feud with AJ is gone, and he'll have to go against Anderson, Sting, or potentially a heel Jeff Hardy, which I think would be okay but no one could have a better match with him than Samoa Joe, Kurt Angle, or AJ.

So I don't know.
