Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No it's Supermod!
There are certain gaming heroes of the past who have just sort of vanished from viewing, the aim is to give these guys the recognition they deserve and get one of them a place in the tournament!

Polls close on Sunday and remember...No Spam!

Im going for Alex Kidd.

Alex Kidd was the first Real Platform game I ever played as it was built in to the Master System, again being only 1 year old at the time of its release didnt help me much which is why I am going to base my decision on the MS re-release. I know it was as close as Sega came to having a legitimate platformer to compete with Mario....well at least before Sonic came about. It had funky graphics and the music didnt bother me which is something other games lacked at the time as it was mostly repetative crap where as Alex Kidds music was quite catchy. The enemies were pretty well detailed, you could tell what they were compared to other games about where the enemies looked blotchy and out of focus. The gameplay was quite challenging as well, I remember getting annoyed as hell after getting so far only to be killed or mess up on the paper, rock, scissors boss battles. Overall It was a great game that spawned less than great sequals, it was a game which I would still play today had I a Master System.

I've also gone with Alex Kidd, he gave Sega life in the mid 80s and it was an allround enjoyable game, a platformer with bikes/submarines and you beat bosses by rock paper scissors...what isn't there to like?

It's a great game that I do still play today, as I have a Master System :p

Like the Disney Wild Card thread, this is just another situation where I only played one of the options, and this time it's Shinobi, so obviously... that's my pick. But with that even being the case... I'm sure Shinobi is still better than the other options, because Shinobi simply kicked ass. I guarantee there's not a character in any of those other games who can fuck with Joe Musashi.

Unfortunately I never got to play Shinobi or Alex Kidd for that matter. I'm pretty certain that I played Kid Icarus a bunch of times at a cousin's house as a kid and remember it being so weird for a NES game. Wasn't that the one with like angel's who turned people into stone to grow their crops or something? Weird.

I went with Leisure Suit Larry. I tracked down a copy of it a few years ago, and while in this day in age it obviously wasn't exactly a five star game, it really entertained me and tickled me. Reminded me of being a kid and playing Duke Nukem 3D and seeing all of the bare-breasted strippers and thinking "Awesome! Boobies!". Good memories = my vote.

Oh and PLEASE tell me that Custer's Revenge is in this tournament? So incredibly offensively delightful.

People... you MUST vote for Leisure Suit Larry. Here's why...

Epic quest-type games should keep you interested, glued to your TV, and should make you want to keep playing until your eyes begin to swell and tear up. Now, although Alex Kidd was an interesting game, it never got me excited to play it. However, Shinobi and Kid Icarus kept my interest. But, as the game progressed, their difficulty became too frustrating and overwhelming for me.

Now, onto Leisure Suit Larry. First of all, the game is so funny that it'll make you laugh out loud at specific parts. Secondly, many players can relate to the game. It's theme is about a clueless, lonely guy looking for love and making many mistakes along the way. Every point that you are required to achieve in the game is useful and makes you want to get a perfect score by the time the game ends. I mean, who DOESN'T want to play a raunchy, sex-filled game that makes you laugh?? And if you still aren't convinced, this was the only game in this category to have SEVEN SEQUELS!! Yes, SEVEN!! It even broke out of the mold of being a PC game and a sequel was made for the Playstation!! If that doesn't scream "winner", I don't know what does.

I voted Leisure Suit Larry for a few reasons.

He's the only one I heard of.

He has a funnier name than the other three.

He's got nice clothes.

He gets the ladies.

Tdigle and D-Man convinced me to actually vote in this one.

This has got to be the worst poll ever. I haven't even heard of half these games. And the other half, I've never played.

I voted for Leisure Suit Larry - based purely off the Xbox version (I swear there is one) that I played about 2 years ago. Its for perverts, like me, in which you play all these fun mini-games to get into chic's pants. The fucking game (xbox version) even had nudity. NUDITY! How many games come complete with cartoon porn?! :lmao:

So yeah, if the original LSL had even half of what the updated version has.. it would've been a winner in my book way back when.

Closed; well done to leisure suit Larry.

shame on you all for not knowing who Alex Kidd or Shinobi is.

Uh-oh, people! Will hasn't heard of or played the games in the wild card thread for entry into the tournament. Close it down. Close the entire tournament down, Will hasn't played one of the wild card games. In fact, shut down the forums. This is the WORST poll ever...

Shocker.

I wish I'd gotten here sooner. Shinobi was around BEFORE the Ninja Turtles, and BEFORE Ninja Gaiden. In fact, any of you geeky enough (like myself) to have read the books that Nintendo put out for some of these games, you learn that Ninja Gaiden's Ryu Hayabusa (the same from Street Fighter) was the last man trained by Shinobi, and that Ryu avenges the death of Shinobi by defeating Jashin in the original game. FACTS.

LSL was a horny geek. Great games, but Shinobi is the original video game ninja, and he got robbed here.
