Who is Randy Orton going to face at Wrestlemania?

The 'Who is John Cena going to face at Wrestlemania?' thread got me thinking...who is Randy Orton going to face at Wrestlemania?

This seems something almost impossible to predict, particularly since he has been used differently and almost part-time recently, but I thought it would make for interesting discussion.

I expect Cena to be pushed back up into the Main Event scene by then and possibly in pursuit of title reign #16 to help fill the stadium. Could we see Randy be in the current John Cena role and hold/help increase the prestige of a mid-card title?

I think Randy vs Neville would be an interesting match. Imagine all of the options they would have for some crazy RKOs with Neville. I don't see that being a big enough feud for that event.

Maybe Randy vs Kevin Owens? I would like to see that match and feud. For a mid-card title would make it even more interesting. To my knowledge, Randy has only held the IC title once and hasn't held the US title.

Other young/new options would be Baron Corbin (if brought up by then and once again I don't see this being a big enough feud for that event), Rusev, or Finn Balor (I can't see him NOT being on the main roster by then).

Then you have the one that many have clamored for since the best incarnate has been back in WWE, Brock Lesnar vs Randy Orton. It has been avoided thus far, could it be to save it for the big event? They would need to build Randy back up just a little bit but it is a matchup I think people would pay to see.

I would book Randy Orton vs. Bray Wyatt with Wyatt getting the win. The story would be simple. Orton cuts a promo on how he is still the viper and still the apex predator. Out comes Wyatt who claims Orton has declined, and he's going to turn Orton into the monster he once was. Wyatt goes over at WM32, and Orton goes back to being his unstable self (pre-WM25).

Of course the feud would have to include something other than promos. Something to avoid it getting repetitive. Not sure what that something would be though.

I can see him facing Kevin Owens. Orton is pretty much at the same point of his career as Cena where a loss wouldn't hurt him yet he can put over talent.

I'm sure once Owens wins the US title, he'll be busy for the rest of 2015 facing Cesaro, Rusev, Cena for the next couple of months so the top of 2016 would be perfect for Orton to step in.

It has. Just before Elimination Chamber 2014. Randy was champion and Cesaro went over clean on Raw or Smackdown. Forget which one.

As for the topic on hand, well is Orton vs Lesnar a possiblity??? I think they may organically fall together as neither will face Cena, Rock looks like he busy with Triple, both already faced Taker at Mania, Lesnar wont fight Rollins or Reigns at Mania again....Keith Owens is a possible but I think that will happen sooner. Wyatt vs Orton maybe.

I seriously do NOT care who Orton faces at Mania. I'd put on this list because of their history is Stardust with Stardust haunting him heading into the PPV and ALSO getting the win!

I do like the idea of Wyatt vs Orton, they could put on a good match(es).

I also like the idea of a more aggressive, badass Randy Orton of old.

I think he and Kevin Owens would put on some great matches and it would be something far different than what we have seen. Owens vs Orton seems fresh, fresh is good.

I know everyone has Owens taking the title at SummerSlam but what if he were to take it on Raw or Smackdown? In some sort of heel fashion, even something simple as grabbing the tights (or jorts in this case) would be fine. Then you set up Cena's rematch at SummerSlam with Owens going over. You can add in either Cesaro and/or Rusev as well. Both would be healthy additions with recent storyline reasons to want to be involved.

My fear is if Owens takes it at SummerSlam off Cena, then you have Cena's rematch and the feud would risk being severely stale after so many PPV matches. End it at SummerSlam by having Owens take the title off before then and Cena losing the rematch, even if you don't have him take the fall in a triple threat or fatal four way.

You then have Owens feud with Rusev, Cesaro and maybe even somebody like Ziggler until around the Rumble.

You have Orton take out Owens in the Rumble, or the other way around, have them build to a feud at WM 32 for the US title.

They need to continue to build Owens as someone worth beating, a heel worth taking down by an up and coming babyface.

You would have Owens go over Orton, I would think, as it won't hurt Orton one big and would continue to help solidify KO as a top heel going forward.

IF Owens ends up with the US title, I would love a lengthy and dominant run with it. Cena has done a lot for the title in such a short time and having someone like Owens hold it, cherish it, do anything a heel can do to keep it would go a long way to making it something worth carrying. It would help the next babyface to take the title off Owens, too. Finn Balor will be up well before then, I would keep them apart after NXT Takeover and when Finn initially comes to the main roster.

Finn vs Owens at WM 33 or SummerSlam 2016 for the US title, many possibilities. Sorry for getting off topic and off on a tangent.

Orton vs Owens at WM 32 for the US title would be something I would pay to see and the two of them could potentially put on a 5 star match.

I'd rather see HHH vs Randy Orton vs The Rock. Have Randy Orton ruining The Authority's plans leading up to Wrestlemania ( in some fashion, attack HHH during an interruption for the title or something ) and continuously challenge HHH to get in the ring with him. The King of Kings finally accepts and The Rock interjects himself in the feud by attacking Randy Orton and telling him HHH is HIS target for Wrestlemania and to get out of his way. At Mania, Randy Orton does a spectacular double RKO for the victory , pinning The Rock after everyone thought Orton was dead getting Rock Bottomed through a table and pedigreed on the steel steps.

Agree. Wyatt would be a perfect opponent for Orton. By beating him Wyatt gets a much needed push (I'm just assuming WWE will have him in limbo until then...) and Orton losing won't affect him.
