Lucha-Libre is wrestling

Getting Noticed By Management
The question is simple, but I will break it down for some people:
1. The wrestler can be from any Pro promotion in the world.
2. Any year in the history of wrestling.
3. The wrestler had to bled more than once or three times in their career.
4. The wrestler blood matches had to really WOW you.
With all that said I have to go with Abdulla The Butcher, he started his career in 1958 but from 1978 to 2010 I seen most his matches and this guy and his opponents were always dripping in blood. The man wrestle for every Pro promotion except TNA and WWE.

Out of the people on your list, it's Ric Flair without a doubt. He gaving bleeding the WOW factor that it got. Everytime he would bleed and it would drip off of his face and mix in with his bleach blonde hair, it just made you think he was dying.

With that said, why in the hell is Shawn Michaels not on your list? When the phrase, "Bleeding like a stuck pig," was coined by J.R., it was during a Shawn Michaels match where Michaels was bleeding like a stuck pig.

My bad I should had added a space for other, but in the era I grew up these were the guys that you seen bleed like crazy and you would say WTF, and for me WWF/WWE didn't use much or any blood on local TV in the 70's & 80's. But I do like your opinion on Flair, but people forget that these 4 guys ( Flair, Butcher, Funk & Colon ) have bled the most in the history of this business even going into their 60's.

Dusty Rhodes used blade all the time and let's not forget the Muta scale!

Good pick I didn't forget him but for me Flair, Colon, Butcher and Funk always were the best shedding blood. But Dusty is not that far behind.

One guy you forgot to mention is former ECW Champion, Steve Corino. There's two matches I can name off the top of my head that he bladed for and those are his matches with Dusty Rhodes and Jerry Lynn. Corino bled so much, he almost looked like Ric Flair with the bleach blonde hair. But, Ric Fair is definetly the best.

Definately Ric Flair.

Ric Flair is the king of bleeding and blading. That's one thing I'll give him credit for, he's not one to hold back. When he came to Sydney for a house show in 2005, on the Survivor Series tour, he had a match with Triple H and Ric bladed and wore his typical crimson mask and I was suprised since it was just a house show. Flair does know how to entertain the crowd, you have to give him that. Flair would bleed so much and so often, he just has to have the title of best bleeder. Nobody but Ric.

I'm pretty sure Flair bleeds if theres a light breeze on his forehead.

I think it s weird when hes not bleeding.

The answer to this has to be Flair.

I would have to agree with Flair, the way his bleached hair would turn red made it look like he was going to pass out from blood loss in every match. That was the reason Corino always looked terrible when he was bleeding, he had the same bleached blonde hair as Naitch. I remember seeing signs at ECW shows that said "I Came To See Corino bleed!". He bled something like 40 matches on the run during his time in ECW.

Gotta mention Abdullah in this though, have you seen the scars on his head? Mick Foley has said Abby would freak people out in casinos by inserting gambling chips into the deep cuts on his forehead and they would stay there.

Honorable mention to Sandman too, while he never really bled as badly or thickly as some of the others mentioned on this list, he used to bust himself open with a beer can BEFORE every match. That is some crazy shit right there!

Have to add to the unaminous tally which is building for Ric Flair. Ric would bleed twice nightly on occasions, off as something as little to the punch to the head. He still bleeds to this day, and most of the time for no reason. Abdullah would bleed, but only when he wrestled in hardcore style matches and only when guys used a weapon, never remember him blading after a punch.

That one is simple... Ric Flair! He bleeds when someone looks at him wrong! If you don't think Flair can bleed go watch the Last Man Standing Match between him and Triple H from Survivor Series 2005... Abdullah the Butcher and Carlos Calone were good at bleeding as well and I know he's not a wrestler, but what about Vince Mcmahon? I've seen him bleed buckets before!

Triple H. OMDayz this guy used to bleed nearly every match of his that i can remember during the attitude era and the McMahon Helmsley era. HHH is my favourite wrestler of all time but it used to annoy mii because in most of his matches he'd bleed like crazy.

when i saw this thread i immediately thought of Ric Flair and all the matches i saw of him as a kid. i swear he was bleeding in all the matches i saw of him early on..and like people stated before, once it mixed in with his hair, it just looked like he was finished.

i still gave my vote to Terry Funk..his age, plus how raw those moments in ECW were and how he still made it thru the matches is truly amazing. i couldnt handle 5 minutes of his life.

i recently saw a HBK/Trips match and Trips was bleeding pretty bad, it was my first time seeing him blade and he gained some respect from me for going harder than Shawn on the bleeding scale. of course when they rematched shortly after, Shawn was the heavier bleeder..lol @ those guys, gotta love'em.

I went with Abby because as a kid every match or magazine I saw of him he was bleeding. The man has so much scar tissue on his forehead you can actually put a quarter between the creases. Flair is probably the new king now since he can't ever be shown on Impact without bleeding. Flair has bleed a lot even before he got to WWE and TNA though. I chose Abby though because the man hasn't had one match where he wasn't gushing like fountain.

Def. Ric Flair..

He used to scare me as a child when he got cut open.. like it was a blood mask

Ric Flair for sure. He bleeds like a bitch. His skin tissue is so soft, he gets cut open easily & bleeds heavily. Also like mentioned before, his hair would be dyed red cause of him bleeding, it looks like he's been in a war whenever you see that. Hell he even punches his own forehead open sometimes in promos just to prove a point. The man is sick when it comes to bleeding.

This is a pretty good list, although I do question Sandman. He bled little amounts very often, self inflicted of course. I'd add Corino, Dusty, and Brody to that list, their foreheads are/were (RIP Bruiser) pretty f'n nasty.

I'd pick Ric Flair as well, it's beyond a joke how he does it now but, back when he was a bit more selective about the blade, it really added some serious drama to his matches.

Three one off situations that I want to give bleeders props are:

Bret Hart at WM 8 against Piper. Was a great match and the site of Hitman beat the fuck up and bleeding like a bastard made his win even more memorable.

HBK at the first HIAC back in 97. Amazing HIAC (never been topped as a match, although Foley's fall was more spectacular). Again, added even more drama to an amazing match.

Austin at WM13. The image of him in the sharpshooter with blood dripping down his face pretty much defined an era in the WWF and, in itself, is a pretty historic visual

I think I preferred those 3 situation for blood then the constant bleeders as it gets to the case where you're like "oh, blood, never mind"

Just a question but where is that crazy Jap bastard Onita in all of this?

Abdullah was doing this shit before Flair even picked up a razor blade. Flair's a damn famous bleeder, but Abdullah's forehead made him famous, haha. He was always known as the guy that bleeds and was rough and violent and shit. Pretty insane shit. I'm gonna say Abdullah, but Flair is a close second. He was dedicated when he bladed. He would have a full crimson mask off like a poke to the eye. It was insane.

Of the people on the list, Ric Flair, with Terry Funk being a close runner up. The rest don't even come close. The other wrestlers would bleed occasionally; Flair and Funk were amongst the few that truly understood blood as a stage prop, and not just a cheap pop trick.

The answer to the question, however, would be the Great Muta. He didn't bleed much while working in the States, as WCW had a 'no blood' policy during most of the time he was working for them. His matches in Japan were bloody works of art. To this day, people still refer to how bloody a match is by referring to the "Muta Scale", which for the uninitiated refers to a 1992 match with Hiroshi Hase, which is broadly recognized as the bloodiest match ever. (The only thing I've ever seen which compares to it is BJ Penn's gory victory over Sean Sherk, and they were trying to knock each other unconscious.)

For those of you who haven't seen this:

I can't believe nobody is going with Sabu.

I think Ric Flair has probably bled more over his career, but Sabu's blood has had more punch.

I'm thinking, particularly, of him ripping his bicep off, taping it back on, and then continuing to fight Funk, and then getting stuck in the barbwire.

Bloodiest match I ever saw.

Honestly, I had to choose between Ric Flair and Mick Foley. The reason I pick those two is simple; both have had great work that has at least partially involved judged.

However, I had to go with Mick Foley. Both have had long careers with great matches involved with classic matches throughout. However, Mick has done it slightly more sparingly and therefore, it's meant more.

Flair MAY have done it the best, but it's overdone and has then made it seem less impressive. Mick has done it at the very least just as good and has kept it relatively special.

I have to be honest I bought my first wrestling magazine around 1984 because of Abby being on the cover caught my attention. I have never seen a wrestler bleed so much in all his matches and look so crazy doing it. Abby's bloodied looks make Taker and Kane look like Santa and the Easter Bunny and I love Kane and Taker but Abby makes grown ups cry and throw up at his matches.

Oh, Ric Flair, and it's not even close. He could bleed like no one's business, to the point where his blond hair turned red. Flair is the master of bleeding, and if there is one person I think of when it comes to excessive bleeding, it's Ric Flair.
