Who could be John Cena's tag team partner?

Hard Hit Prince

Not really working as a
This is a pure speculation thread and one that is not likely to occur, but let's suppose that the recent report about putting more focus on the tag team division in 2014 means that WWE's biggest star John Cena would be involved. Now John Cena is a big individual star with a great career and a lot of accomplishments, one might say that Cena's 10 year career is one of the best careers individually speaking, with a lot of fantastic matches and moments for fans to remember, hardcore or casuals doesn't matter - if you are one of Cena's haters, you are allowed to your opinion of course, but you can't deny the impact this man had and specially his talent.

However in his illustrious career Cena held the tag team championship four times with Shawn Michaels (63 days), Batista (7 days), The Miz (minutes) and with David Otunga of all people (1 day). Clearly all of his tag team partners ended up being his foe, with Michaels and Cena ending up to have one of the best matches in Raw history and Batista and Miz ending up facing Cena at WrestleMania. But as you can see, Cena's fantastic altruist personality didn't really made him a lot of "friends" in the WWE locker room, at least not one that could stand out.

So in your mind let's say Cena actually gets involved in the pursuit of the WWE Tag Team Championship - Who could be his tag team partner and why do you think that? Would you like to see Cena be involved in something different like the tag division?

Oh yeah my take on this - I would like to see Cena and Big E. Langston or Ryback team up as this big guys team - they could set up an angle where one of them actually saves Cena from a beatdown at the hands of the Wyatts or any other heel tag team and actually ending up having a good friendship. This would help a young star and put more relevance in the tag team championship without a doubt as Cena and Big.E/Ryback would pursuit the guys who attacked them and ending up taking their championship away. I wouldn't also mind seeing Cena and Roman Reigns team up, I don't know but something about them just click and in my mind Reigns looks like a guy that will be a future big star (given that he stays humble and starts doing some PR work).

Just discuss - also I wouldn't really like to see this turning out to be a "I hate Cena thread", this should be a thread to actually give the guy some props and play some fantasy booking.

Surely someone who Cena could help elevate like a Big E Langston or a Roman Reigns. No sense in teaming him with an already established star like Sheamus for example. I would love to see this but probably won't ever happen because he too big of a star for that.

I think Big E Langston and Roman Reigns have the abilities to get to the top by themselves or with a manager. I think Cesaro would be a better option as he needs Cenas help to get to the top and would justify the promo Cena did on the European Tour when he gave him lots of positives. However I don't think Cena should have a partner as Cena is a hated face and would just drag his partners status as a face down as anyone who associates with Cena loses some crowd support as people like to see Cena beat up

PW-Torch: There has been much speculation on the return of Sheamus, in fact, these reports may have some truth to them. It is being reported that Sheamus is healthy and ready to go meaning that he could return tonight as Ryback's open challenge.

I say Ziggler. He desperately needs a boost in his stock, and being with Cena plus getting the tag titles(It's bound to happen with Cena) will do a lot to make up for how far he's fallen.

Sheamus, Big E and Reigns imo needs time alone to establish(or in Sheamus' case reestablish) themselves as single stars, especially Reigns since he's never been by himself yet. Dolph on the other hand needs to be reestablished as a star in general, so I think he would be a better choice.

As for the other question, I think it could be amazing. Like they can have Cena "lose" every now and then by having his partner get pinned instead of him which would be really nice compared to him very rarely losing in singles matches, the tag division gets a lot more attention which is a good thing, any team that beat's Cena's team ends up looking great, and finally other single stars gets a shot at the WWE/WHC titles. So yeah the more I think about the better the idea sounds.

I said a few months back, whilst Cena was out with his injury, that no matter how predictable it probably would be in terms of the outcome, I'd mark out for a Bryan and Cena tag team.

Mega Powers v2.

Back in 2009 when D-Generation X reunited to compete for the final time, there were several other really solid Tag Teams on the scene such as Jeri-Show, S.E.S. (Straight Edge Society), The Legacy, The Hart Dynasty, etc. & I thought to myself what if for the first time ever WWE actually split the entire roster into teams, mainly tag teams. Now the idea wouldn't be to go all Teddy Long on the situation & make every single match for months on end exclusively tag team macthes but rather to slowly start forming alliances & have superstars start to form mainly two man teams (but some would have a manger like how DX adopted Hornswoggle or maybe even a third member like in the case of Legacy). & eventually it would all come to a climax at Survivor Series when all the teams finally formed bigger teams with the babyfaces rallying together & the heels doing the same & have some big, epic Classic Survivor Series Tag Team Elimination Matches before eventually doing away with a majority of the teams heading into Mania season most likely. They could have reunited teams like Edge & Christian, Batista & Rey Mysterio (before their feud, which would have probably added more fuel to the fire), The Brothers Of Destructions, The Miz & John Morrison, etc.

& I kept thinking to myself, "Who would make a decent partner for John Cena?". He was feuding with Orton & Legacy at the time & needed to keep playing the roll of the underdog for as long as possible before achieving his redemption. At first I thought someone like Hornswoggle would work best since he would have been almost more of a burden to Cena & Cena would have had to make sure he was "taking the bullet" for Swoggle all the time. To WWE's credit though, Cena & Hornswoggle teaming up worked better as a temporary laugh in the Royal Rumble. But Cena's tag partner shouldn't be another big ol' muscle head like a Ryback or Big E. That makes for a very boring in-ring style for the team, it'd be unrealistic if they didn't demolish almost every team within seconds (which would get incredibly old, extremely fast) & frankly those "super group" type pairings are better kept for one off matches like Cena & Rock teaming at Survivor Series 2011 or for a short storyline before the actual feud like within the case of HBK & Cena several years ago or even HBK & Stone Cold several years before that. But eventually Cena's partner hit me! & surprisingly it is someone that I think could still work really well today for both men & that is Evan Bourne.

Bourne & Cena teamed up a few times in 2010 I believe & it seemed to gel pretty well from what I remember. Bourne's High Flying style balances out perfectly with Cena's Power/Strength style & Evan can serve as both a sidekick to aid Cena & a sort of damsel in distress that could need Cena's help at times. & it would be a perfect way to reintroduce Evan Bourne to the WWE Universe & make people instantly care about him (especially the younger demographic which Cena represents & which is one of Bourne's main demographics as well). As well as it would be something pretty fresh for Cena.

I said a few months back, whilst Cena was out with his injury, that no matter how predictable it probably would be in terms of the outcome, I'd mark out for a Bryan and Cena tag team.

Mega Powers v2.
I would really enjoy a New Mega Powers pairing as well.

The most obvious name is Bryan. They are both dating a Bella and could potentially end up as brothers in law - I think. Having them as a tag-team would be pretty interesting and would certainly give the division more star-power.

The other name that comes to mind is Langston. I think he and Cena are good friends and I reckon that Langston could cut some decent promos alongside Cena. It would also help build Langston into a star which is probably inevitable. Although, being affiliated with Cena might not be a good think...

The only WWE SuperStar that should team up with the World Champion, John Cena is the WWE Champion, Randy Orton. I’ve mentioned this on another thread, but I think a redo of the Two-Man Power Trip would be good for business. Having a Face / Heel Tag Team would be great for the Tag Team Division and it would move Cena and Orton away from the WWE World Title scene. It’s a win – win situation. Oh and plus the team to knock them off would have instant credibility taking out the top two WWE SuperStars today.

I still think Zack Ryder and Cena could make a good team. Kinda like an older/younger brother type team where Cena's showing him how to be a star. At first Cena's doing most of the heavy lifting, but eventually Ryder starts picking up big wins and showing up in the clutch for his team.

Maybe at some point you can turn one of them heel. If a guy like Reigns steps up and can be the face of WWE and they feel comfortable finally turning John, he'll get massive heat for turning on a guy who always looks up to him... if not, make Ryder get over confident and think he doesn't need Cena. Maybe walk out on him in a tag title match.

I agree with everyone who mentioned Daniel Bryan, with the fact that they could be potential family, it's almost a natural.

Also, O would like to see him team up with Sheamus, even if it's not an "official" team, they could just be thrown together as a way bringing support to the tag team division.

I also wouldn't mind seeing John Cena and Christian team up; explanation: I have always wanted to see John Cena and Randy Orton team up, as they are supoosedly best friends in real life. And since Randy Orton had teamed up with Edge and Edge has teamed with Christian, it got me wondering how John Cena and Christian would be as ateam.
