Where Does Tim Tebow Go and for What Position?

People's Champ

Bleeding Teal
Pretty simple question. Yet then again is it? Tebow is seen as the college football player ever. Hell the greatest college player ever, with his skills on the field as well as being a great leader. He played the QB position well for the system he was in. But that seems to be the problem. A lot has been said that he just doesn't fit the pro style QB that he would have to be. And people aren't sure if he's good enough to build you entire offense around. So then where does he go?

Now I'm one of those people who believe he has too much talent to not draft him. But for what position? He wants to play QB. But after watching the Senior Bowl- which by the way I think was a huge mistake for him toplay in because he was not ready to play in a pro style offense- a lot of people who may have wanted to give him a shot were turned off by his perfomance.

So I ask where does he go? Which round do you think he will go in and which round do you think he should go in? What team should draft him and which team do you think will draft him? And what position should he play and what position will he play?

So I'm asking for your educated guess and you own personal opinion.

Put him in a Wildcat offense and I honestly think he would do some great things in the NFL, as either a starter or in a role like Vick had last year in Philadelphia (a tad bit bigger role though, of course). So, I'm not sure where he goes, but wherever that is... they will need to incorporate some Wildcat into their offense if they want to have him contribute, because as a pure quarterback... I don't see him succeeding, unfortunately.

As far as him playing other positions... I don't see that happening, either. The guy's simply not fast enough, and I don't think he's someone who is capable of taking a hit every single play he is on the field. So, it's either a Wildcat QB, or he's going to be a Journeyman.

I certainly wish the best for Tebow though. Even as a LSU fan, I respect the hell out of Tebow and wish him the best for his NFL career.

Tim Tebow WILL NEVER SUCCEED AS A QUARTERBACK IN A NORMAL NFL OFFENSE. He could get drafted anywhere from the 2nd-5th round depending on how well he works out at the combine. He'll definitely get drafted and probably get a shot in some teams wildcat type formation. Other then that he will get some snaps as a fullback/tight end in some other specialty formations. I don't see him being anything other then a journeyman specialty player in the NFL.

You know, I am going to bump this. Why? Because he had an excellent draft session. I have been saying it for months, Tebow will make a great NFL quarterback. Why? Because he wants to learn, he wants to progress, and he wants to be great. He has all the physical abilities and attributes to do great and his new throwing motion wowed coaches and GM's. You can't coach want Tebow brings to the table. He's a physical specimen who might go down as a great NFL quarterback. I hope he shuts up all of his haters and doubters. That boy is a winner, and it isn't his fault FLA didn't prepare him for life after Gainesville. Tebow will be a QB in the NFL, and he'll be starting in two to three years. I can guarantee you that.

Regardless of him throwing well wearing Under Armour during a game of toss around with receivers he knows with zero pass rush or coverage, he will go late second, mid third. You have to be an idiot to see ONE day of unopposed throwing, and think his throwing abilities are all fixed. when he is under pressure, in the heat of battle, he will revert to his nature. His nature is unlikely to be changed any time soon.

That being said, I think any team getting him should be damn happy. He has every intangible anyone could ever need, and has the athleticism to be a difference maker in any role, regardless of throwing abilities. Like JMT said, you can DEFINATELY use him in a wildcat / swiss army knife type role, probably even as a rookie.

Great QB? Not so sure. Surely worth a late second to early fourth round pick though, as someone who will be a very usefull, productive player for any team who will utilize him properly.

Tim Tebow is going to succeed as an NFL quarterback, and I would be more ready to place my trust in him than in Sam Bradford or Jimmy Clausen. He should go in the 2nd or 3rd round to a decent or good team to be a project quarterback, one who can sit behind a Carson Palmer or David Garrard to learn the game at an NFL level. Unlike Clausen and Bradford who are going to be thrown into the fire from the moment they're drafted, starting for bad teams with few few, or no playmakers to help them, Tebow won't have that pressure and responsibility. Tebow is a student of the game with a passion for bettering himself physically and mentally. He will make adjustments needed to improve his game, something other athletes who are either lazy or don't have their heads in the right places won't do.

Tebow is a physical freak. At 6'3, 245 lbs. he's built like a tight end. Tebow can make all the necessary throws, and since he changed his motion, he can make them before Juilius Peppers eats him. Tebow doesn't have Mike Vick's speed, but he runs hard with his head down, isn't afraid to lower his shoulder initiate contact with the defender, and will be great in short yardage situations. He's an athlete, pure and simple. He can throw, he can run, he is durable, and he's got the intangibles. Tim Tebow is a born leader, someone who can rally a team, a school, a city, and a state around him. He's a big game quarterback who has proved himself a winner. He's trustworthy and reliable. Tebow will never bring any negative press to the locker room for anything other than what happens on the field. I would want Tebow on my team.

Now, I think that Jacksonville is going to do anything they can to draft Tim Tebow. He's a hero in the state of Flordia, and the Jags have been bleeding money for the past few years. They've had a decent, even good team at times, but can't fill their seats. Tim Tebow could fill their seats. He could learn from Garrard, and when he eventually becomes the man in Jacksonville, he wouldn't be in a bad situation. (He'd be somewhere he could succeed.) Jacksonville should draft Tebow to save their franchise financially. Use him in a couple of packages during the game: once or twice under center, as a slot receiver, in goal-line situations, in the backfield. Give him a look at the field 6-10 times a game, and he will fill their seats. That alone would make him successful, but I believe he'll be much more.
