When did michael cole start to hate Jerry 'The king' Lawler

Lawler and Cole were good friends, like i remember after the wwe draft 2008 i think, kane attacked michael cole and then jerry lawler saved him. 2 and a half years later Jerry challenged miz for the wwe championship. Michael then went on to cost him the wwe championship. The following week michael cole apoligized to jerry the king lawler, and now for some reason.....michael cole hates jerry lawler? Could someone please explain this thing to me, i dont get it at all

When Lawler challenged The Miz, Cole interfered and cost The King the match, due to his love of The Miz. When Cole did this, he upset King and got on his bad side. Due to this, Cole retaliated in anger and caused a rivalry, due to his love for Miz, and dislike for ANYBODY who dares face him in a match.

It's all a matter of Cole was angered by King and his challenging of the Miz.

He apologized, but he really didn't buy it. The Raw GM stated that if Lawler physically attacks Cole in any way, then he will be fired. This was still going on when the Miz feuded with Randy Orton before their match at TLC, and Lawler pushed Cole into Orton and gave him an RKO.

The King in following weeks leading into January and February became sick of Cole's love for the Miz, being biased towards him. As you remember, Lawler won a battle royal to become #1 contender for Miz's title at the Elimination Chamber, and lost.

The following night on Raw, Michael Cole mentioned Lawler's passing mother who had passed away a week before. Cole asked him how he felt after he let his mother down in heaven. This is what led to their Wrestlemania match upcoming.

Basically, Michael Cole went too far after that, and King has had enough. That is why they hate each other, dating back to December after Cole cost King the WWE title in the TLC match he had against the Miz.

When it comes to many of the matches/special attractions/feuds that culminate at WrestleMania, the WWE lays the foundation for them many months in advance.

For instance, there may have been talk of giving Jerry Lawler a match at WM 27 not like after WM 26 last year for all anyone can tell. This feud between Lawler & Cole has been brewing really ever since Miz won the WWE Championship and if I had to pinpoint an exact time when Cole started to "hate" Lawler, it was when he was given a WWE Championship match against The Miz in a TLC match on Raw. You'd hear Cole go on about how Lawler was trying to steal the spotlight for himself, how his time had passed and how it was the day of younger wrestlers to make their mark, etc.

Cole "apologized" for his actions after the TLC match on Raw to Lawler, but that's really where it all began. Cole had been singing the praises of Miz and getting confrontational with Lawler about The Miz for a long while even before that. But yeah, The Miz's first WWE Championship defense was really the overall beginning of Cole's general animosity towards Lawler.

Cole hates Lawler because supposably Lawler is "trying to steal the spotlight"

Lawler challenged Miz to a Ladder Match for the WWE Title. Cole got pissed because Lawler again was "trying to steal the spotlight". King had the title won, but Michael Cole goes in and stops Lawler, allowing The Miz to come in and win.

Yeah, so what if he apologized the next week. Are you telling me that if you were in Lawler's shoes and you had a legitmate chance of being the champ, and Cole comes in and stops you, are you telling me that you wouldnt get mad?

Then you add in the fact that Cole starts talking crap about Lawler's mom who passed away. That's just gonna piss him off even more.

Cole is like the Miz in the fact that he can't win a match by himself, which is why Jack Swagger is his "trainer" and why he was going to put JBL as the Guest Referee.

However Stone Cold prevented that.... thank god. Stone Cold aint gonna let Swagger get involved, and if he tries to you can bet he's gonna get "Stunned" and be seeing stars for hours. Lawler and Austin are good friends, and he's not gonna let Michael Cole walk away with a cheap win.

And of course if Cole loses, he's gonna say that Lawler cheated and crap. I wish WWE would just get rid of Cole and bring back good ole J.R. I mean Lawler, Booker and Josh Matthews all hate Cole because he's an idiot. And the fans hate him too.

I dont know who the fans hate more Cole or Vickie Guerrero... cause every time they talk, all I hear are boos.

I think it even started a little before the ladder match on Raw. They started slowly changing Cole to heel status when Daniel Bryan returned to Raw in August. First Miz would just bash Bryan and cheer for the Miz, but overall he was still siding with the faces. But slowly he started bashing more and more faces (Jomo, Kofi, R-Truth), and his constant cheerleading for the Miz slowly started to annoy Jerry Lawler.

So during Miz matches mostly both Lawler and Cole would take shots at each other leading to more and more anomosity between the two, that yes eventually culminated with Cole screwing Lawler out of the title on Raw.

vcu your being sarcastic right? you know cole is a character and intentionally trying to get booed? that fans booing him is a sign of respect? i think heel cole is a tremendous character, funny beyond belief and his comeupins will be a good culmination of a good 6 to 9 months of character building. this all started at summer slam when DB was choosen over the miz, it's ending at WM, cole has embraced his character and that allows me to

I don't think the OP was actually asking for a play-by-play of the feud. We all get what happened week after week, I think he's asking the larger question, is this a logical - or even "good" - storyline? And to get even broader, is turning Cole heel a good idea?

I think this was an interesting experiment, and while I think Cole is over as a heel, I'm not sure it was worth it. The dearth in broadcasting talent in WWE is growing more apparent week-after-week, and Cole playing heel doesn't help the situation at all.

The greatest broadcasting combinations did have a face play-by-play and heel color commentator. But what made those combinations great was that there was a - for lack of a better word - playfulness in their banter. You didn't really get the sense that Heenan and Monsoon didn't like each other, quite the contrary, you could tell there was a fondness between them. The same with McMahon and Jesse Ventura. My problem with Cole's heel persona is that a lot of his commentary just seems mean-spirited and doesn't really help the guys in the ring.

All-in-All I think the only way to go after wrestlemania is for Cole to become a full-time Manager. He'd be good in that role, and at this point, he couldn't go back to just calling matches. Josh Matthews and Jerry Lawler would be the natural choice for Raw....like I said....a dearth of talent in the announcing pool.

From what I remember it really came to a front after Miz returned from being fired (as the Calgary Kid) and then Cole be came very vocal about how much he loved the Miz, there were bickering between the two before that of course, but it really seemed to start building up after that moment.
