Fuck honor
So I saw a thread about botches recently and it got me thinking about selling and how important it is. There is no doubt that it is one of the most important elements of storytelling, which in itself is a key element in mainstream style wrestling. However what really makes a guy's selling good or bad?
When it comes to faking something, even as big as preforming in front of thousands of fans, you always have to make it seem convincing. The little details are what really count too. An example of bad selling was Micheal Cole in the Anaconda vice grip this past Monday night on Raw. I literally laughed at the his selling, it just looked so comedic probably due to the unnecessary close up of his face. Why, why did it look so bad? Was it his facial expressions? His body movement? Or some other little details exposed due to the proximity if the camera to his face? There are also great sellers like John Cena who while I myself am a fan of, does similar type selling of Cole this past Monday. He manages to make it look better and I do not get how!
What is the most important element of making a wrestler's selling look authentic?
What makes for bad selling?
Who are the best sellers in the industry right now? Who are the worst?
