What is your favorite Travel destination/Vacation spot?

A Double

Dark Match Jobber
I did a search and didn't find any other threads like this.

Traveling has defenitly become my favorite hobby. I just started doing it more about two or three years ago. I've been to South Florida(Mostly Miami Area), Philadelphia-Atlantic City, and this Thanksgiving my wife and I tried a new kind of trip. We drove to Washington DC(We went to Survivor Series, checked out the sites.), went up to Niagara Falls, up into Canada to check out Toronto for a day, and to Detroit to watch the Lions get their asses kicked on Thanksgiving again:((Yes, my wife is awesome. She loves wrestling, and she'll tolerate a football game!). I've also been to Chicago and most of the other Mid-Western cities.

I'm wondering, what is your favorite place to visit or the coolest place you've ever been to? I've only been in the United States and a little bit of Canada, but I'll say South Florida is my favorite place. The wife and I have gone twice in the winter, and it's just awesome to go from below zero weather in Wisconsin, to usually 70s and 80s in the middle of winter. Last year we drove down through the Florida Keys. Very scenic. I just love the warm weather in winter, taking boat rides, or whatever else we decide to do. I just like being down there. Of course we aren't used to palm trees or sitting by the ocean.

But anyways enough of me. What about you? This may help me decide of more cool places to go in the future.

I went to Las Vegas once, and that was the coolest place I have ever seen. Just what you see with your eyes before you actually experience the city and attractions is worth the trip. The MGM Grand, The Bellagio, Caesars Palace, Excalibur, The Mirage, all of it was just amazing. I was 13 when I went there and even though I was with my parents I got to do a lot of stuff on my own which was pretty nice. We stayed at Circus Circus and that isn't even one of the premier hotels there and it was all I could have asked for from the trip alone. They have an indoor amusements park with roller coasters and everything. Also, inside there is a Midway/Arcade that takes up 3 or 4 floors, with a trapeze act going on in the middle of it and depending on what floor you are on you might be eye level with them or watching them above your head. It was crazy, they had games out there when I was 13 that I didn't see here in the Midwest until I was 17 or 18. There is something for everyone there. I got to walk the strip with my dad and that was just about the coolest part of the trip. Here I was standing in places I had only seen in movies or on t.v. and I had my dad by my side the whole time, it was great. The Riviera was right outside one of the exits of Circus Circus and it was so bright and so colorful to look at, everything is a spectacle. It was hot as hell, but if you like that kind of warm weather than you would be fine. I'm the guy who wears shorts through the whole winter so I was melting there. If you get the chance, go to Vegas.

My favourite (and coolest) place I've ever traveled to is Greece. I've been there three times and I've been lucky enough to get around to almost everywhere in that little country - from the northern parts to the southern parts to the Islands. I guess I'm a bit biased because I am Greek but it's just a truly beautiful place. When I was involved in a touring company there, we ended up going to about 5 locations within a 1-month span and just being able to travel by plane, boat, bus, anything and spend a few days in one location and being able to discover it and then be able to move on and see another completely different location was beyond incredible. Hands down one of my favourite traveling experiences.

I'm a big classical history person too, so I also freaked out when I got to see things like the palace of Knossos and many of the ancient amphitheaters in person. There's so much history EVERYWHERE, it's overwhelming and difficult to even begin and take it all in.

My favourite place in Greece? The cliche but truthful answer would be the island of Santorini. It's just fucking stunning top to bottom. Most of the islands are the beautiful and picturesque locations that you see in all the pictures, so if you're looking for that kind of paradise, it's all about the islands.

Well, I could give the obvious answer, and say it's Vegas for me. I mean, I did love it out there. And, for more than just the gambling and strip clubs. Yes, there's more to Vegas, if you haven't been. The Wax Museum is great, Hoover Dam is worth the trip, among other things. I could give that as my answer, but I won't. Don't get me wrong, I love it, but it's bound to be mentioned by several others.

No, in fact, my answer is Sarasota, Florida. I've made the long, arduous trek down there for a few years, for Cincinnati Reds Spring Training. In fact, it breaks my heart that I don't get to do so this year. But, baseball isn't the only reason I enjoy that town. They own my traveling heart for several other reasons. Chief among them is accessibility to the Florida Keys, especially Long Boat Key. Great golf course there. Second reason is the Strip Clubs. Then, of course, the Dog Tracks. I LOVE the race tracks. Not only are they fun to watch, but it's easy money, too!!! Seriously, I walked in with roughly $100, and left with over 500!

That's my number town, but there are honorable mentions involved. These include:

1. Toronto- It's among the cities considered the birthplace of the NHL. I've always wanted to attend a Leafs game at home.

2. Rouleau, Saskatchewan- This town (city?) is the place they filmed Corner Gas, and I've always wanted to eat at the Ruby, and fill the gas tank at CG.

3. New Orleans- Mardi Gras, during Spring Break. Is that not reason enough? OK, OK, the food and music are amazing as well.

4. Enumerated other Cities, towns, and villages....

So, yeah, those are basically all my top vacation choices. Agree? Disagree? I'm willing to discuss it further.....

I am going to go with Las Vegas. For one, I just got back, so everything is fresh in my mind.

We did it right when we were there. We went to nice places, ate amazing meals, went to the best strip club, and experienced some of the things you can only do in Vegas.

Also, the people were just so nice. At every destination city, the people there are trained to cater to you, but they seem to do with some kind of attitude. In Vegas, everyone seems so happy to help you with anything you need. Maybe it was just the places we were, but everyone acted lucky to have a job in Vegas, and the effort they made was amazing.

Where did you stay when you went there? I was there this past summer and we stayed at the Planet Hollywood- sweet location in the middle of the Strip- and I completely agree that everyone was so nice. Nicer than I recall from the other times I went as well (I had been there twice before). I figure it had to do with wanting to get the tourists to keep coming back. Either way, it was refreshing to deal with people who didn't seem to force being nice, especially in such a busy city where I can imagine it's frustrating to deal with the people coming and going constantly.

God, I really want to go back this summer.

I haven't really traveled a lot of places. I've been to D.C. I was incredibly surprised at the amount of people there, just.. pandemonium. I did the tourist thing. Saw the monuments, had an amazing time. I want to hit the museums up next time I go. Virginia Beach is always a cool little place to hit up. It's always alive, and there's always something to do. It's a beautiful little beach, and the place always has something going on. It can get a little cold though. It's a fun place.
