What if you got a Nielsen Box?

Pre-Show Stalwart
I recently received a letter from Nielsen Media Research with 2 dollars enclosed inside of it. They want me to take a phone survey then possibly get my own Nielson Box. That got me thinking. I'm a TNA fan (hold your boos). Should I be willing to stop watching RAW except for on the internet and turn on every TV in the house to TNA on Thursdays? I've always wanted to help TNA and I never thought the ratings reflect the quality of their product properly. I think a lot of TNA fans might have the same thought. So that brings me to my question.

If you got a Nielsen Box that is used to calculate ratings for television shows would it change your viewing habits? Alot of WWE fans say they only watch TNA to see a train wreck. Would you stop watching TNA if you were giving them ratings? And how about TNA fans. Would you stop watching WWE to try and close the ratings gap even the slightest bit?

Honestly, this reeks of TNA fanboyism to the extreme. I watch both products when I can, but honestly what you're thinking of doing here is a really douche move. Turning on every TV in your house to try and increase the ratings of TNA (it may be significantly small anyways) and then only watching WWE on the internet? Wow.

Anyways, this thread might end up in the trash soon, so I'll just end it off with this: This is a stupid idea.

I have always wondered this too.

I wouldn't change my own viewing habits. All I watch is Impact & ReAction. I only watch Superstars and SmackDown online (so I can just skip to the people I want to see) and I would not enjoy the show if I had to sit through the whole thing on television. So I would have no motivation to really change when I watched on TV. Although, if I was too tired to watch TV or something, I'd probably leave the TV on anyway to give Impact an extra viewer. But nothing much other than that.

A year ago I would have answered differently though. I definitely would have stopped watching RAW in a heartbeat. Probably would stop watching every other WWE show too. But I have already given up on RAW now so it doesn't affect me that much.

Basically, at this point in time there would be no point for me to change what shows I watch if I got a Nielsen box, but if I were still watching WWE shows on TV then I would not be above quitting them in hopes of a .00000001 drop in ratings.

Honestly this is a dumb idea. I have a TV production class and we learned that one persons nielsen box does not make or brake a show you would have to get your entire town, some family members in other places, your WZ buddies lol everyone to do this for even a slight noticeable change to happen. So you should probably keep your energy bill down and dont do this.
