What if Cena left the WWE?

Let's say hypothetically, two years from now Cena's contract is coming up. Instead of resigning, Cena says he is going to explore other options (like Hulk Hogan did in the early 90s). Realizing he has no talent in acting or MMA, Cena decides to pull a Hogan and join TNA. Assuming TNA is still around in 2 years, how would this switch effect the business? Would it immediately turn TNA into the top dog or would it be just like Hardy, Angle, Booker T, Christian, and Anderson? I realize that Cena is a much bigger draw then all of these guys put together, but still it makes you think.

In my humble opinion, it would not make a bit of a difference if Cena went to TNA. At this point, the WWE is such a machine that it will turn out a new star to take over for Cena. Honestly, does anyone even realize that Hardy has left the WWE? Or has anyone noticed that Michaels retired? Does anyone even care that the Miz was on the Real World anymore? The answer is, we try to remember (or at least I do) and then the WWE just turns on the machine and creates a new star to take their place and in the process manages to legitimize a new star in a matter of months. How many people hated Sheamus at first and now think he's a legitimate big man (not me, I still hate him, but whatever). The WWE has done a phenomenal job of stocking its developmental territories that they have the ability to crank out new stars in a matter of months. Seriously, look at all the champions right now Hart Foundation, Kofi, Miz, Swagger, and Cena. All homegrown superstars and with the exception of Cena, all relative new comers. I mean holy cow, the WWE has completely started and finished an entire youth movement almost covertly.

There you have it, Cena would initially be missed by the WWE but I would say within 5 months he would have been forgotten with his name etched out of the history books and TNA would still be in a 2nd rate position.

So, what do you guys think? Would Cena make a difference in TNA? Would the WWE miss him? Does the WWE even need giant stars anymore?

I havent even thought about it. Because to be honest......its not going to happen anytime soon. Love him or hate him, you gotta admit he loves what he does. The role Cena has now takes alot of stamina, and you wouldnt do it unless you loved it. My kid is one year old, and I fully expect in another 10 years Cena will be in the ring wrestling the next big punk ass to come down the pipe.

Cena's name is already in the History books. The title reigns he gets a champ are few and far between with any other belt. That alone makes him stick out. I think the fans more than anything want a change in him. Looking back, guy was kinda funny when he first came in.....now he is as stale the bread that im sure the Sheamus-like mayo jar is getting spread on.

Never say never, but Id bet TNA would go out of business before Cena would ever consider jumping. He is making himself set for life up in Hartford, and I dont think there would be a point where the WWE couldnt use Cena for something.........NwO for life turned into a joke. But I do believe Cena is WWE for life. Cena might be a wrestling fan, but he is a bigger WWE fan. YOu know?

I think the WWE would obviously miss him, to disagree with that is ridiculous. Real fans notice Hardy not being around anymore, and Not one person can say they don't miss HBK. I think IF he were to leave and join TNA, of course there would be a difference made, because whether you love or hate Cena....he IS a draw. He is today what The Rock was 10 years ago, the ''Face'' of the company, the merchandise man, the one who would have his million and one catchphrases spouted by kids everywhere, and you tell me....Who doesn't miss The Rock???

So...to answer your questions simply;

1) Yes he would make a difference in TNA
2)Yes he would be missed(greatly) by the WWE
3) Yes the WWE does need giant stars, thats there selling point, the one kids look up to. They've always had it...Hogan, Hart, The Rock, and now Cena.....Answer this...Is there anyone in WWE right now, who if needed in 2 years, could have kids eating out of there hand the way Cena does???

It depends. If WWE were to fire Cena today resulting in him jumping to TNA, then it would have a huge reaction in the wrestling world, because he is the biggest wrestling star of the past decade, but in two years, maybe not so much. Because likely, he'd already have been replaced by a younger guy as the face of the company, and will probably have taken a Triple H role, coming to the main event when needed.

Although it is clear this will NEVER EVER EVER happen, it is an interesting concept to think about. So here's my thought.

January 1st 2012, John Cena leaves WWE to pursue other interests (Singing, Acting, MMA), he realizes he misses Wrestling to much and decides to come back. Now instead of the obvious choice (Going back to WWE) he decides to go to TNA in what is the biggest thing to ever happen in Pro Wrestling. Yes that's right, the biggest thing ever.

John Cena, although you may not like him, is the BIGGEST STAR IN WRESTLING, period. He is the Hulk Hogan of the New Era in Wrestling. And the thing is, him going to TNA would catapult them to Main Stream, this guy does Talk Shows, Movies, TV Shows, everything to get out there and promote himself/WWE, now its him and TNA.

Now on the WWE side, it hurts, but WWE is big enough it can lose John Cena, they might not have the next Cena right now, but trust me, Brock Lesnar was suppose to be the John Cena, when Brock left, John became the Ubber Babyface that he is now. So WWE could take someone else and do the exact same thing.

John Cena helps TNA more then it hurts WWE, and that's the bottom line.

I think Cena leaving the WWE for TNA would be a massive shift in what fans (lovers or haters of Cena) think of the business. You are always going to get a high percentage of fans watch TNA if Cena went there to see what they would do with him. You gonna get the other fans wondering what the hell happened with Cena and VKM to make such a wwe loyalist jump ship (like Bret Hart in 1997). I also think Cena going would mean WWE would probably have to drop the PG era. It would cause a massive impact imo. Oh and i for one miss Jeff Hardy in WWE.

John Cena already made it clear on numerous of occastions that he isn’t leaving WWE.

Also Cena has a lot of talent. He is a decent wrestler and it’s pretty obvious that WWE is limited his move set because when he came to WWE, he was well liked and no one cared about that.

I don’t think in 5 months he will be forgotten. Cena is like Hogan, Austin, The Rock and so on. Are they forgotten?

It's a moot point because it's not going to happen. But in the extremely unlikely case that it did, I think it would put TNA out there more than ever before, but still not enough to become true competition. Cena is a huge draw, but the WWE name in itself is a much bigger draw than any superstar on the roster, and that wouldn't change even if Cena did leave. With each huge superstar TNA has gotten, their status hasn't really changed, and they're still considered second rate in comparison to their Titan Towers counterparts. They have to start doing things very differently if they even want to begin to compete with the WWE, and the so called Monday Night Wars showed that they might not ever have a true chance to do so.

OP + this thread = :weird:

John Cena is going nowhere. This guy will end up drawing his retirement pension from the WWE when is 65! He is an WWE lifer. I've learned to take people's word with a grain of salt, but I somehow honestly believe when he said countless times he is not going anywhere, he is not going anywhere... especially to TNA. They would just screw it up anyway, he would end up jobbing to Hernandez or someone inconsequential like that in 2 months time.

Given the fact that TNA will most likely not be able to afford John Cena, I can't take this dream seriously. But hypothetically if John Cena (for whatever reason imaginable) decides to not re-sign his contract to WWE (his meal ticket), then I see these things happening:

1. He'll go into acting. Yes I said it. I don't like his acting, but he is still into that with WWE Films and even if he left WWE he does draw in the entertainment field. I see him doing Nickelodeon-esque movies whose demographic would definitely cater to children and preteens. He might even star in a Disney television show. He is deeply into that field so if he decided to hang his boots up early then I see him going for the film industry.

2. Pursue a rap career. Yeah this will probably not happen, but he could do it. He cut a CD before, surely it can happen again.

3. Let's just say TNA can afford Cena, and Cena would be interested. Two things that are the least likely to happen. Cena isn't going to stay with WWE forever- no matter what some people here think. He is making big money, has his face in the spotlight 90% of the time, and has been pushed ever since his debut. Anyone who knows ANYTHING about wrestling knows that the star that burns the brightest goes out the quickest; only exception to that is 'Taker (and Taker had to repackage himself every few years to stay interesting). Cena plays a diehard WWE guy in the spotlight, but no one here can really say they know him personally; money talks people. And so does a lenient work schedule.

If TNA could pick up Cena then honestly that would put them on the map; TNA marks would get on here and every other thread they post would be them gloating over getting "the biggest name in modern WWE" and that would be a lot of shit for the Mods to clean up.

Final Thought- unless WWE management had a problem with Cena and/or vice-versa, expect Cena to go nowhere but where he is right now- on top of the WWE mountain.

Hopefully it will mean peace, maybe with golden boy Cena gone we can move to another attitude era. That means we will have to find another Rock wanna be.

"What if Cena left the WWE?"

Answer: Then there would be no more war in the world, everybody would be in peace, Africa would stop churning out little kids and giving them aids, the WWE and entire universe would finally be free and we would NEVER have to hear "The Time is Now" play through our speakers again.

The Champ isn't here. We can't see him.

Everybody is happy.

Everybody lived happily ever after.

So, that's what would happen if "Cena left the WWE".

But sadly, we might aswell have been asleep whilst reading my comment. We all know Cena's going to surpass Flair's championship record, headline every other pay per view, never get injured, be the highest paid superstar, be the face of the WWE, be on the poster of every pay-per-view and make little girls and boys have pre-mature ejaculations for another 40 years.
