What ever happened to "the higher power"

Sora/roxas

Pre-Show Stalwart
So when nexus first started they went onn and on about "the higher power". THis is the reason VKM is in a coma because he tried to be the higher power. Anymore its like they killed the whole higher power and made BArret the head of the snake. If you ask me hes doing a good job. But thats not the point. Nexus used to be based on a higher power and now there based around wade barret. If you notice Barret is the only one who talks. They used to switch off but anymore its Barret with Otunga interuppting him.

So do you think there should still be a higher power?
I do cuz it would be a good storyline. BArret comes out talking about being the leader, and the higher power comes out and says that barrets a fraud and beat the crap out of him. TH new guy takes control. insta storyline

who do you think it should be?
I honestly dont care as long as its someone who makes sense.HHH wouldnt, VKM wouldnt, and Chris Jericho wouldnt. Someone like Shane or steph would. THere tirreed of not getting enough say in WWe so they chose to destroy it inside out.

EDIT:Ok so i thought i got the "higher power" from off RAW but while searching i never found it so it must have been a term used by the IWC but i still stick by all ideas and they have been teasing a higher up leader and they still do every once in a while

The Higher Power was revealed to be Mr. McMahon, about 11 years ago. Come on man, get with the times...

I kid of course. I think they're just waiting for the right time to reveal everything. Maybe that right time is this Sunday at Survivor Series. Yes, I think there will be a higher power. All my intuitions point to John Cena, but I'm not entirely sure. I guess we will just have to sit back and watch huh?

Nexus never mentioned a higher power that I can recall. A bigger picture? Sure, but never a higher power. As for why the IWC speculated it and why nobody does any more goes back to Barrett. At the time people were either sceptical of Wade's ability to lead the group, or that a rookie would be allowed to. Thus theories of who could be the Nexus' leader could be sprung up. Now the bigger picture's been painted over and people have accepted Wade Barrett as leader of Nexus we've stopped talking about it.

To my knowledge, Nexus has NEVER used the words "higher power".
They have used words such as "common purpose" or "bigger picture". Wade Barrett is the Leader of the Nexus, and there doesn't need to any other.

well I feel like there could still be a higher power that they kind of hinted to when Otunga mentioned threatening to reveal the "real reason" they helped Kane bury the Undertaker at Bragging Rights.

First of all I thought this thread was about the "higher power" make from the Ministry of Darkness days.

Barrett said in the early beginnings of Nexus there is a reason and a "bigger picture" and HINTED at the fact they take orders from someone else leading the charge, but its all about timing.

I think it will be revealed soon...like someone else said, WWE is probably waiting for the right time.

I dont think its Cena...it just doesn't make sense for him to be the leader this entire time. If they rehashed the old "Rock took over the NOD from Farooq" then I can see it being more believable.

-Cena WILL NOT be fired
-Barrett WILL NOT walk out champion
-Cena will STILL be in Nexus

Something will go down this Sunday...WATCH FOR THE TWIST!!!

This poster basically sums it up...

I think that the higher power will be revealed at SS becuase I don't think barret is ready to be wwe champ just yet. Maybe otunga will take over nexus and offer cena a spot in nexus after orton wipes barrets stupid ass and walks away wwe champion. Or something like that where cenas still in wwe, barrets not champ, and cena might be in nexus.I guess we'll all see this sunday...:banghead::wtf:

Several times the Nexus have mentioned a higher power before summerslam period... The higher power is the Miz...

Miz has never been attacked physically by the Nexu he has never fought the Nexus and he happens to have MITB the night that Wade Barett is favored to get the title....

Here is how this plays out Wade wins he says this whole time we have been taking orders from truly awesome...John Cena takes him out Miz cashes in and says it was all a way to get the title. And he helped Nexus because of his dsigrace of a rookie Daniel Bryan

The higher power of the Nexus could be cena himself. It is possible that he had a pact with Barrett, that after he helps Barrett win the belt at Survivor, Barrett will leave the group and cena will become its leader. Its also possible that there is no such pact but the group along with cena just kicks out Barrett and makes cena the leader because of Barrett's behaviour with the rest of the folks. Either ways, cena will become the leader and maybe reveal that he was the one who orchestrated the attack on Undertaker and Bragging Rights and that he didn't come out to attack Taker himself because he wanted to keep it a secret. A gradual heel turn for cena is very much possible right now since he is a part of Nexus, and the WWE have all the opportunity to book a big match like Taker vs cena at Wrestlemania. Its staring at them in the face and if they still don't make use of its, it would be lame.

To answer the OP's title question, I think it's more of a back-burner storyline that they will get back to once Cena's angle is done with. Kind of like McIntyre's "Chosen" gimmick is though he hasn't really done anything with it just yet. It will take time.

As for whom it could be, I think it's more of a "Why they're there" then a "Who's pulling the strings". Could be a ruse to make McMahon a heel again. Stranger things happen. I'm still among the few that think Nexus is a demonstration of a corporate power similar to what happened back in the Attitude Era; McMahon in absolute power with a possible big-name face turning heel and a potential up-and-comer following suit...sound familiar?

But of course its anyone's guess.

The higher power will be revealed but probably not at Survivor Series. It will turn out to be, like another poster mentioned, the Miz. Randy Orton will retain the title and John Cena will be fired. When he is fired he will start doing run ins on the Nexus and gather the former members to start his own stable called CeNation. Then the higher power will be revealed to be Taker so Cena will face a heel Taker at Wrestlemania.

There is still a higher power. Remember how Barrett said on multiple occassions that he is part of something far greater? He was always the leader of Nexus, but the higher power was always there too. We just don't know who it is yet and won't for a while. The higher power could be anybody. I hope it's not someone who would take the focus away from Barrett and the other rookies though because I really enjoy seeing Nexus in their current form. If someone like Trips was the higher power then the focus would shift over to him and he's already established. Perhaps Jericho would make sense, as he was Barrett's pro, but he is also already established. Anwyays, my point is that the higher power was always there. They are just focusing on Barrett, Otunga, etc, to help establish all these guys. They are the future.

Has anyone here heard of the old saying:

"It's the golden rule, the man with the gold makes the rules"

Personally, I don't know why people still think Nexus has, should or needs someone pulling the strings outside of a 1930's looking son of a gun. Wade has been utterly amazing as the final boss of the Nexus. He has an aura and confidence to him that is really hard to describe.

If there is someone behind the group, I think it would just ruin everything. It would be completely overbooked; considering everyone that has ever been involved with Nexus angle raves about Wade Barrett's control of Nexus.
