Well that's one way for a soccer game to end.

Fire Marshall Bill

Let me show ya somethin!!!
SAO PAULO (AP) -- Police say enraged spectators invaded a football field, stoned the referee to death and quartered his body after he stabbed a player to death.

The Public Safety Department of the state of Maranhao says in a statement that it all started when referee Otavio da Silva expelled player Josenir Abreu from a game last weekend. The two got into a fist fight, then Silva took out a knife and stabbed Abreu, who died on his way to the hospital.

The statement issued this week says Abreu's friends and relatives immediately "rushed into the field, stoned the referee to death and quartered his body."

Local news media say the spectators also decapitated Silva and stuck his head on a stake in the middle of the field.

Police have arrested one suspect.

You soccer fans are a crazy bunch. I know it was his family, but that's still pretty extreme.

I saw a leaked video of this, absolutely frightening. Its insane how something as simple as someone getting thrown out of a soccer game can lead to the death of a player and a ref getting stoned and quartered. Just to think the next world cup is in Brazil. I sure hope they win because if they don't, it won't be pretty.

When they had the Soccer World Cup here, even our prisoners and taxi drivers behaved! Damn Brazil! If you're not beating us by having more poverty, crime or AIDS, you pull this crap! #ThirdWorldProblems

Did he score in his own goal like Andre Escober?

You can't blame this on a country, it was a group of people who acted.

Those types of events are somewhat common in South America or even some parts of Europe. I'm more concerned about Brazil hosting the WC.

During the FIFA Confederations Cup there was concern that the protests and riots will spill over to the stadiums during the games. Brazil is in political and social turmoil. They should just change the 2014 WC to another venue.
