After apparently not taking last weeks debate serious enough, I shall jumps straight in and get to the point.
Racial profiling by police is an important safety mechanism, simple and straight forward. Why is that the case? Lets have a look. Is it discrimination to single out a particular group of people just because of their colour? That it sure is and is racism at its most acceptable level. Why are you disproving yourself there Lee? I have read a lot of stats on racial profiling, some as outlandish as a black man 7 times more likely to commit a murder than a white man, and 8 times more likely to commit a burglary in the United State of America. As a whole though it is taken that those who are non white are more likely to commit the crime in the USA. This has ranged from 1.5 times more likely up to 7 times more likely.
Is is because they is black? The quote All G. NO not at all...but Again lets look a bit more in depth. Which city in the United States has the highest homicide rate? The answer is Baltimore, and what is the ratio of ethnicity in Baltimore? According to the 2005-07 census the population is 64.85% African American, 31.28% white, 0.32% native American, 1.53% Asian, 0.03% Pacific islander, 0.67% from other races, and 1.47% from two or more races. 1.70% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Now which city has the lowest? Why that seems to be a few showing up, so I've gone with Long Island. What's the difference there? Well the demographics are 57.16% White, 20.18% African American, 0.36% Native American, 9.06% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, 8.17% other races, and 4.01% from two or more races and 21.82% Hispanic or Latino. So a predominately black area has the highest for homicide, whilst a predominately white area has the lowest for homicide.
You can look into it how you want, I personally believe it's because of the area itself, it doesn't take a genius to tell you that Long Island is quite a lot richer than Baltimore and thus crime is not needed as much. It just so happens that there is a white/black divide here.
I just did a random look at my city Newcastle upon Tyne in the UK. The Toon is above the national average for crime yet 90% who live there are white, so the obvious thing in this case is that the police would stop those fitting the bill, hence why chavs are usually stopped. It makes logical sense to stop those who statistically commit more crimes, in the USA it seems those of minorities are so police would stop more minorities.
