WCW Nitro Thunder

Dark Match Winner
ok the thread is simple and im not sure if it has been done before but ive looked and havent found it, basically
the wwe did an ecw reunion show , ecw one night stand 2005 and it turned out to big success leading to another and eventually the reinvention of the ecw brand , it was a great tribute and had a lasting effect for a few years, so my question is why dont they do a wcw show
call it wcw nitro thunder , it could turn out great,
matches could include:
booker t vs chris jericho as the main event
kevin nash and scott hall vs the corre
rey mysterio vs chavo guerreo (maybe for the cruserweight title)
william regal vs dean malenko
big show vs kane (wcws giant vs wwes giant)
possibly sting vs the undertaker (as the main event if they could get sting for a night)
open challenge gauntlet for any former wcw wrestlers against john cena , maybe paul london, billy kidman, etc
some special appearences from others like torrie wilson, steiner, etc
commentators should be dusty rhodes and matt striker

i personally think if booked right wwe could create a real interest in it and sell big
it could relace survivor series for this year

what do you think?
how would you book it?

The whole "Bring back WCW" thing needs to be laid to rest.

WCW went out of business almost exactly 10 years ago. Even if it was to only have WCW guys come back to wrestle on the show, who would it be? Most of the guys that were worth a shit, WWE signed anyway.

WCW was exactly like WWE. It isn't like ECW. ECW's whole existence was using a different concept. They did "Extreme" things. Tables, Fire, etc... Their location was even different then WCW and WWE. They were in a bingo hall.

I get the point. I liked WCW too. But it just makes no sense to me. Why bring it back, what purpose would it really serve?

It isn't bringing back a company that had some different, lost concept that needs to be resurrected. All it would be, is bringing back a rival company that Vince was able to stomp into the ground.

The whole WCW thing I would have been on board for, is this year's HOF having a WCW theme, ONLY because it was in Atlanta. It is obvious that idea is out the window, so should any other plans regarding the name, W-C-W!!

And they can have Viagra on a pole to celebrate WCW. With appearances of the KISS Demon, Glacier, and a reenacting of the finger poke of doom.

But no, not everyone who worked for WCW liked WCW in the first place, so I doubt they'd like the idea of doing a tribute show.

Just wait for that best of nitro DVD set.

If I'm not mistaken, weren't there talks for taking the Old School Raw format they did last year and doing an Old School Nitro for 2011? I remember reading something on WZ about that.

Regardless, I don't like threads that get to specific like this. Some of the things that people say are incredibly unrealistic (like Paul London vs. Cena). Not taking a jab at you, but it really takes away any part of serious conversation about it. All these fake scenarios make them seem even more far-fetched.

Hell will freeze over the next time Scott Hall shows up in a WWE ring as a wrestler.

from what ive read the WWE is considering a throwback Nitro version of Raw. Similar to what was done a couple months ago with the nostalgic WWF version of Raw they did. I welcome it as long as it is truly a one night stand.

I think Vince made it pretty clear how he would handle this sort of thing with the Invasion angle and his incarnation of ECW. He would make certain that it would be his WWE branded superstars who were pushed and any stars that he brings in for the event that were not previously on his payroll would job out to said stars (ala Big Show as the ECW champion during WWECW's run and team WCW/ECW being led by Steve Austin and Kurt Angle during the Invasion angle).

Our version of this event, the true dream matches that we have always wanted to see, would never occur if WWE were to organize the event. Of course, this is a huge shame, but it is the truth, nonetheless.

Bingo. Dead on. Think, WWF was supposed to be the heel during the Invasion, and then the crowd reaction wanted the exact opposite because their were not enough "major" WCW players. Hence, Vince made the choice to bury them. A one-night Nitro would have some promise, but you'll never see Sting reign down leading a "WCW!" chant. DDP is really the only top talent WWE could get for this at this point, and he's not a draw anymore for obvious reasons.

Not to mention, that Bischoff guy isn't even with the company anymore.

Dude this is such a stretch its not even funny. Half the guys you listed in your matches aren't with the WWE and prolly won't be anytime soon. This would do nothing to help WWE either so theres no chance in hell it would ever happen.

I loved WCW (and even moreso, NWA/JCP) more than most anybody else. But let's face it, it just wouldn't be the same.

World Championship Wrestling no longer exists. Vince, in all truth, doesn't own it - it ceased to exist (WWF only bought the rights to the acronym WCW and its likeness; World Championship Wrestling Inc. was still owned by AOL-Time Warner and reverted back to its previous name Universal Wrestling Corporation to finish handling contracts and business and finances and lawsuits for World Championship Wrestling, then was taken off the books).

Back on topic..... Without its previous ownership and management and talent running it, it just wouldn't be the same. Just as the WWE version of ECW was not the real ECW (just a WWE show using the same initials), the same goes for World Championship Wrestling.

I'd love for it to come back more than anyone, but who would they sign and how long before they can quickly develop new talent to transition to? I mean, most of the guys who worked for NWA/JCP and/or WCW are either too old, retired, or working either in TNA or Indies or Japan, or some working in WWE, or just don't care about wrestling anymore:

Sting, Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, Barry Windham, Steiner Brothers, Roadwarriors, Midnight Express, Rock 'n' Roll Express, Freebirds, Tully Blanchard, Doom, Terry Funk, The Great Muta, Vader, Z-Man, Ole Anderson, Magnum T.A., Nikita Koloff, Ricky Steamboat, Dusty Rhodes, Skyscrapers, Dragon Master, Lex Luger, Ronnie Garvin, Stan Hansen, Cactus Jack, Harlem Heat, Meng, Barbarian, Steve Austin, Billy Kidman, Randy Savage, Goldberg, The Giant, Chris Jericho, Rey Mysterio Jr., La Parka, Psychosis, Juventud Guerrera, Ultimo Dragon, Brad Armstrong, Tracy Smothers, State Patrol, Ranger Ross, Norman Smiley, Alex Wright, Disco Inferno, Glacier, DDP, Dean Malenko, Lance Storm, Kendall Windham, Harley Race, Kevin Sullivan, Mike Rotundo, Larry Zybysko, Lenny Lane, Johnny Ace, Shane Douglas, Norman the Lunatic, Nasty Boys, Jacko Victory, Sam Houston, Al Perez, Thunderbolt Patterson, Terry Taylor, Tommy Rich, Perry Saturn, Scott Norton, Van Hammer, Paul Orndorff, Steve Regal, Dave Taylor, Fit Finley, Shane Helms, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, Erik Watts, Dustin Rhodes, Lash Laroux, Raven (Scotty Flamingo), Paul Ellering, J.J. Dillon, Paul Heyman (Dangerously), Jim Ross, Ernest Miller, Madusa, Torrie Wilson, Kimberly Page, Stacy Keibler, and of course Dave Crockett and Jim Crockett, etc...

or deceased:

Rick Rude, Brian Pillman, Hawk, Eddie Guerrero, Chris Benoit, Public Enemy (both members), El Gigante, Buzz Sawyer, Gary Hart, Eddie Gilbert, JYD, Bobby Duncom Jr., Chris Kanyon, Bam Bam Bigelow, Steve Williams, Terry Gordy, Gene Anderson, Kerry Von Erich, Miss Elizabeth, Sherry Martel, Woman (Nancy Green-Benoit), Gordon Sollie, etc...

and many, many other wrestlers I don't remember of-hand. Now, can you see pulling this roster together today? THIS is NWA/WCW. It's been gone for 10 years, and most of these guys are past their primes now or have moved on. Sorry, but if it's not a good portion of the above names then its not WCW and I wouldn't care to see a group of nobodys calling themsef WCW - unless the few of the above still living and still able to go can help build new stars QUICKLY to re-establish WCW again.

Maybe.

I think a one off Nitro would be cool. Set the Arena up "Nitro Style" and have all the TV graphics Nitro - like they did for Old Skool Raw.

Unfortunately due to TNA, Hogan and Flair wouldnt be present. Hogan would be a huge miss given that Nash, Hall and Hogan could get back together and form the nWo.

But Big Show, Rey Mysterio, Kevin Nash, Booker T, William Regal all had WCW ties. I am pretty sure Jericho will of returned by the time this happens. Also, I read Goldberg would like one last match so his son can watch him. This would be the perfect opportunity. Yes, PPV would be bigger and better for WWE but a Nitro would be more fitting.

wwe are making a nitro themed edition in 2011 for one night only for raw just like the old school raw because, well i don't know? for ratings probobly. also it wont replace survivor series as that, summerslam, royal rumble and wrestlemania are the main ppvs for wwe although elimination chamber seems to be replacing survivor series due to the lack of sales but that is another topic.
