I liked it. I mean, it has the usual Zack Snyder effect on me of having absolutely zero impact after I turn it off, but other than that, yeah, good.

I'm sorry, I just couldn't get past the giant blue CGI cock flopping around every other scene. I know that's juvenile and it'd stupid to let something like that ruin a movie I guess but... I really just couldn't get past it.

I thought it was good of an adaptation as we could have expected. I didn't like some of the changes made, but I could deal with them. The opening scene was far too long though. Still, I enjoyed it overall. I wouldn't call it a masterpiece or anything, but similar to TDK it's definitely one of the best comic book films of all time. Really though, that's not saying very much.

Yes it was out for so long, so unbearable. Screw everything else. Screw the story. Alan Moore & Dave Gibbons should burn for such a thing and Snyder too as well for converting it to the movie.

Well, ya know, the comment was intended for everyone to get a good chuckle from but if you wanna fuck with me about it, I can back up the statement and be more analytical about it if you like.

The movie adaptation focused too much on the counter culture aspect of the original work. The giant blue CGI cock was just one example of that. It was never intended to be so prominent. In the original work, it was very understated, a bit like greek sculpture. This is something the authors of the graphic novel have specifically pointed out as a complaint, btw, this isn't just me talking.

There certainly was an element of the comic that gave it a counter culture feel, but that worked for that medium as it pertained to the story being a somewhat harsh analysis of superhero culture as a whole. As I pointed out, the movie seems to have fixated on that element a little too much, as evidenced by the abundance of full frontal nudity as well as exaggerated violence as compared to other contemporary comic adaptation movies, and the inclusion of one of the most graphic sex scenes I personally have seen in an R-rated film.

It's not that any particular one of those elements is offensive in and of itself, nor is the movie as a whole offensive. It just comes across as trying to hard to stand out from the typical rank and file comic film. The story itself would have more than accomplished that feat without the need for such an obvious attempt at shock value.

There. Happy now? The movie sucked ass.

this was the worse movie of all the comic book movies made. the storyline was not bad. it was to long and not enough action. there is to much of a love story in the whole movie. the girl goes from one guy to another and then you have the botched ending. this director and writer needs to burn in hell. well at least i did not go see it in movies to waste my money. this is why i always wait for it to come to DVD and rent it before buying it. my theory proved right again here. out of 10 i give this movie a 2.

Absolutely loved it. The changes made sense, I guess, and for a comic book that was supposed to be impossible to film, they did a damn good job.

Really? The worse comic book movie ever made? Really guypants? You're joking right? You've got to be joking here. There are far worse comic book movies out there trust me.

Watchmen was a great movie, I couldn't believe how faithful it was to the graphic novel, yeah there were a few changes that though they made sense in some aspects, I would have prefered to have not had in the movie. But what're you going to do? Xfear has it absolutely right, it is one of the best comic book movies made to date.

slayin's obviously not read watchmen, it're pretty true to the novel. Ienjoyed it, wouldn't mind re watching it

I read it, and I didn't think it was particularly true to the novel either. The actual plot points were fairly faithful but I just don't think they got the ... i dunno. The feel? Something like that. It just felt wrong. That's probably a bit of a cop out but I don't know any better way to put it.

It's not nearly as thought provoking as the graphic novel is. Not sure how anyone could have expected anything else considering Snyder was directing. He makes great popcorn films with a lot of flash and style. They just don't have very much substance.

this is one of the best comic movies made yeah right. i watched it with guys from the military and they thought it was awful. it may have been a mistake to say worse but it is far from the best i have seen.

So, because they're in the military, they're the go-to guys for movie reviews?

...What?

...What does it matter what guys from the military think? How is that relevant?

Explain to me what made it a bad film. It's certainly not a masterpiece, but it's far from bad. There are very few better comic book films.

They skipped a lot of character development that was present in the novel. Granted, they had to do some chopping to get it down to a reasonable film length, but they cut out a lot that made the entire point of the story make sense.

For example, Ozymandias. Pretty much THE major character, wouldn't you say? I'm trying to avoid spoilers as much as possible here but suffice it to say that the plot pretty much revolves around this character.

As a result, understanding that character becomes VERY important when you try to understand why he does what he does. There's supposed to be a real dilemma there... a choice of the lesser of two evils. If you don't understand and come to sympathize with Ozymandias to a certain extent, then there's no dilemma. He just becomes a typical comic book bad guy, and you lose the whole point of the story.

I didn't feel that they really accomplished that in the film, and I think the whole thing suffered to an enormous degree because of it. It became...a popcorn movie. And there's absolutely nothing wrong with popcorn movies for the most part, but in this particular case, it was harmful. The result was just another comic book movie... and I think we've got more than enough of those already.

Just my opinion, I could be wrong.

Judging by your complaints you've prolly never read Watchmen have you

Then you watched it with some ignorant military members. I'm military too and it was a great movie, everyone I've talked to here on base has said the same thing, even a person who doesn't generally like comic book movies.

If you think that it's far from the best then you need to watch a lot more of the comic book movies that have been made.

I liked it a lot. Blue penis was defo more noticable than it should have been, and the movie can't really stand up to the book. I thought some good things were left out, but it was still a solid movie. Better than TDK imo.

well lets see. for starters lets name the top 3 better comic book movies.
1 Spider Man best of all the ones made more then likely and for good reason.

2 Batman Dark Knight and Batman Begins way better story tells development of Bruce Wayne as Batman and Joker and his character was even deeper then Watchman

3 X-men this was another great group of movies. should be higher though. great story and goes through characters well.

did i say military guys judge a movie all the time NO. my reasons are the same as Dexter pretty much.

Did you just claim that the characters in TDK were more complex and deep? You literally learn absolutely nothing about the Joker in that film, not one iota of background or character development.

what is the good reason for spider-man

did you say the x-men group of movies? 3 was shit.

Iron man should be in there,

I actually almost picked up the movie tonight, but they were out of stock. Perhaps I will try again tomorrow.

However, all this talk about blue penis' has got me thinking. If they're going to just have the thing hangin' out there, they should've at least given Silk Specter some camel toe. I mean, her suit was certainly tight enough for it.
