Watching Toy Story 2

Sorry, I know I'm not KB... As such, I'm sure my commentary won't be as riveting, but it's because of his UP viewing thread the other day that I decided to watch through the Pixar collection from beginning to end. I watched Toy Story yesterday, and finished A Bug's Life earlier this morning. And now...it's time for Toy Story 2!

I heard a lot of people say that it was better than the first. I've always thought it was the weakest of the series, which isn't saying it's bad because it isn't.

I agree with KB that its the weakest but in my opinion you can't go wrong with any of the Toy Story films. All 3 of them are fantastic films, but I will always go with the original as the best of the bunch.

There is something about the spaceman coming to grips that he is a toy that is very captivating and fun to watch. I enjoyed the banter between Woody and Buzz and the whole supporting cast is top notch (with Rex being my favorite).

Toy Story 2 was still very good, I liked the whole Woody wanting to live forever storyline and be a collectors item and has to come to grips with whats more important, to live forever or to enjoy the time he has being played with. I thought it was a great story and a good way to move along the franchise and get more mileage out of it.

I haven't seen the second in such a long time, so I guess we'll find out. I've pretty much thought the same thing as you guys, but I'm open to changing my mind! I just finished A Bug's Life, and it's weird how rushed all the dialogue of that movie seems... The animation is much more polished, and I loved the orchestrated soundtrack, but overall, I didn't enjoy it as much as I had remembered.

Oh man, this intro package featuring Buzz flying through space is REALLY pretty. I'm not sure if it's the BluRay I'm watching, but you can already tell how improved the animation quality is between the first and second films.

Weird. I vaguely noticed this in the first one, but Tim Allen seems almost forced sometimes as Buzz. Tom Hanks is fantastic still, by the way.

Cowboy Crunchies! The only cereal that's sugar-frosted and dipped in chocolate!

Have you got to Jessie's song yet? One of the saddest music sequences ever committed to film.

BTW I like your idea of going through the Pixars. If I ever get them on Blu-Ray I'll likely do the same thing!

Unfortunately, Finding Nemo is "in the vault". I've been able to find the DVD version at Best Buy, because they made so many, but the BluRays have all but been sold out. I'm sure eventually they'll make some sort of package, but for now if you want the BluRay Finding Nemo you're going to have to get it online. (or you can just download it...)

Literally JUST got there. This is one of the reasons I really like the second movie. I'm quickly realizing 2 might actually be better than 1. If for no other reason that because of the first we have a sense of nostalgia and emotional attachment to the characters. Same reason the 3rd was so moving...

2 only JUST edges out the 1st for me. Might need to watch 3 again as I wasn't that into it when it came out, but I think I was grumpy after paying the 3D price then realising that wasn't really necessary, and a lot of people were going on and on about how good it was.
