Was Sting's WWE debut a mirror of Starrcade 97

I'm watching the Sting DVD and as much as I've seen the Starrcade match over and over including live on PPP in 97 it never came to mind til now to make me wonder if Sting mirrored the role of Bret Hart at Starrcade 97. Granted that was not Harts debut but Hart did come out and overturn a victory won by the nWo and brought authority back to WCW. Now Sting never refereed the match ending but he did take out a ref that has aligned himself several times much like Hart took out a ref who aligned himself several times with the nWo. Starrcade was a staple moment for Sting's crow gimmick and I feel Sting's debut copied that same moment. Thoughts?

The only similarity is a guy involving himself, with a babyface intention, in the outcome of a major match. I don't see anything beyond that, personally. Hart didn't help overthrow Bischoff's rule; the nWo remained dominant and Sting lost the title a week-and-a-half later. WCW already sucked quite heavily by that point.
