[Victory Road] Tommy Dreamer v. Bully Ray

YOU WILL RESPECT MY AUTHORITAH!!!!
TNA has announced a match between ECW alumni Bully Ray and Tommy Dreamer for Victory Road this coming Sunday. Dreamer jumped Ray from behind a couple of weeks ago on iMPACT! and I suppose this is the follow up.

Personally, I've zero interest in this match. Ray is fun to listen to on the mic but he's dull inside the ring. Tommy Dreamer's just awful all around. Hopefully they'll keep this 5 minutes or less.

hopefully its the 1st match on the card n ends quick i kinda wish team 3d left and retired when they said they were going to bc i feel like them being singles wrestlers are ruining the legacy didnt work the first time in wwe and isnt working now

At the very least, Ray is feuding with someone who isn't Devon. But this isn't much better. Honestly, I think Ray's gimmick has got potential, and he's always been good on the mic. As a human heat machine, he could have a very strong mid-card role, helping to elevate mid-card talent. Anyone who cuts a promo against Ray should be able to get over with the fans quite easily, and can likely even learn a thing or two from him. But until he starts feuding with non-ECW alumni, he has zero chance of being taken seriously as a singles wrestler, and is contributing nothing to the card. We've simply seen the ECW originals feud against each too many times to care anymore.

As for Dreamer, he should be focusing on his backstage duties. There is zero reason for him to be taking a spot on a PPV card at this point in his career. He's never going to get more over than he already is, and he certainly doesn't need to put himself up against one of TNA's best heel talkers at the expense of a younger talent who could actually use the experience (and the PPV exposure). If Dreamer still has anything to contribute as an on-screen performer, I don't think this is the way to go about it.

As for the match itself, it will likely be awful. Dreamer just can't go like he used to, and Ray isn't exactly one of TNA's best in-ring workers. The feud itself has been poorly executed, with Dreamer simply putting himself between Devon and Ray to the delight of noone. It seems that every time TNA runs out of ideas, they just pair two guys together who used to feud in some other company and call that a buildup, then toss it on a PPV. Which is just another reason why I don't bother buying TNA's ppv's anymore.

Why is this match going to be on PPV? IMO this is an Impact match.

It really has real build up or anything. I guess Ray beat Dreamer and continue the feud with Devon. Which I have no interest in and wish was over.

Really? Dreamer VS Bully Ray is going to make it to a pay per view? This just seems like the type of match that should be on Impact. Ray has actually been doing a fine job with the Bully character, but I can't see TNA pushing him too hard. I think Dreamer is terrible in every way, and I can't believe he's going to receive some pay per view time. This might be another way for TNA to try and capitalize off of more ECW nostalgia, but I just can't get excited about this match.

Honestly, why is Dreamer facing Bubba Ray? Seriously, someone please tell me?

Should'nt Devon be wanting to take revenge on Bubba for what he did to Devon's kid's?

It's Russo booking 101: Matches that don't make sense.

I honestly think TNA is doing this because they are trying to fit in Tommy Dreamer in a match which i can understand but against Bully Ray?? I don't understand why them two are even wrestling in the pay per view this sunday, I hope they make this the first match on the card

So, Tommy Dreamer and Bully Ray (in singles action, mind you) are PPV material. Two guys who haven't put on a solid match in years have found a spot, but veterans like Samoa Joe, Daniels, Doug Williams, Jay Lethal, and Magnus have nothing going on. They just brought in Crimson, and he's doing even less than nothing. I'm sorry, but this entire thing is a damn shame.

These two will stink up the arena, no question. Funny thing is, I'm actually enjoying the Bully Ray character. He's the perfect cowardly bully, even if he can't work a singles match to save his life. If he's moving on from Devon, in some capacity at least, it should be against someone who could actually make this interesting (Crimson, Doug Williams, maybe Jay Lethal). Tommy Dreamer needs to be kept backstage, end of story.

We have seen more action between Bully Ray and Devon then we have Dreamer and Bull Ray. I have no idea why this match is taking place. Dreamer and Bully Ray had one altercation on Impact. I guess TNA really has no ideas for Dreamer since all of EV 2 wrestlers are gone. As Nick brought up, why have this match when you can have Crimson, Doug Williams, or Lethal involved in a match. We haven't seen these 3 guys in weeks. This match is beyond lame.

I love ecw guys, I really do. But Dreamer outside of Ecw and past about 1998 is just a joke. I loved Tommy dreamer when I was a kid, I got Ecw on tv and watched it behind my mom's back because she thought it was to violent. Well he along with a few others were my favorite wrestlers, but since then and even with his punching bag of Ecw gimmick he's had of late just dosen't scream Dreamer to me. He's old, and Ray is so out of shape it's not even funny.

Beyond Ray's gimmick he's stale. Go beat up a few backstage employees and stay the fuck off my PPV's. Expect a run in for Devon and maybe a WTF heel turn by Dreamer for the punch he cought him with the past week. I'll lisiten to this while I'm in the bathroom.
