Is anyone here going to see Van Halen on their new tour? I just got my tickets today for the Toronto show. If you have seen them before, share you experiences.

Didn't they try this once before, if I remember right it didn't end all that well, by the way just out of curiosity how much did your tickets cost?, I heard they were asking upwards of $200 a ticket, that's inasne, and I would know:)

I got my ticket for $80 and I'm in the 100's. The lowest price was $50 so yeah it wasn't that bad of a price. I haven't seen them yet so it should be interesting.

Who's the front man on this latest reunion tour?

I hate these "oh, our band was famous twenty years ago, so lets get back together and do a tour!" Ideas. They're old, they don't do the songs justice anymore.

Furthermore, when it's this band in particular, I can't imagine Van Halen and Roth actually getting back together to do a reunion, and IMO the ONLY time VH was good was with VH and Roth together.

Then there's Roth himself - I lost all respect for him when he turned VH songs into Bluegrass music. FUCKING BLUEGRASS!

So what happens? David Lee Roth comes back together with VH to play, and I'll hate Roth for killing classic songs. Or, someone else is part of this tour instead of Roth, and I'll hate the band then because it doesn't have Roth as a part of it. It's a lose lose situation for me, I can't be satisfied by any bands older than the 90s back together again. I still listen to some music from then, but I don't want to see them together on stage anymore.

Van Halen & David Lee Roth announce tour
By Sandy Cohen

LOS ANGELES -- They're in their 50s now, and they've traded their long heavy-metal locks for close-cropped cuts, but the original members of Van Halen are back in business and promise that they're better than ever.

"Usually, when a band comes back like us, it's rockers with walkers," frontman David Lee Roth told reporters at the Four Seasons Hotel here on Monday. "This is anything but."

Van Halen held a press conference to announce a 25-date concert tour beginning Sept. 27 in Charlotte, N.C. The re-formed group features three original members - Roth, guitarist Eddie Van Halen and drummer Alex Van Halen - along with Eddie Van Halen's son, Wolfgang, on bass.

"This is not a reunion," said Roth, 51. "This is a whole new band."

"It is totally blowing our minds and I think it will yours, too," said Eddie Van Halen, 52. "It's better than it's ever been."

With its flamboyant frontman, "Diamond Dave," Van Halen was one of the most popular rock bands of the 1980s. But the group split up in 1985 and the original lineup hasn't performed together since.

"I'm shocked any of us are still vertical," Roth quipped.

He and Eddie Van Halen insisted that the band's reunion isn't just a one-tour deal. After performing throughout North America, Van Halen plans to hit Asia and Australia.

"Then we make an album," Roth said, adding that the group has "lots of dreams, lots of ambitions."

"We really have re-formed this team like a brother team that it never was before," he said.

Wolfgang Van Halen, 16, brings "a young energy and a spirit" to the band, Roth said, adding that the teenage rocker chose the tour's song list, which features "close to 25 of your greatest hits."

"You know every single song, you know every guitar lick, every woo, every kick, every jump, every drum lick," he said. "We can't afford to shirk that duty."

The band has been rehearsing since October and plans to exceed fans' expectations, Roth said.

"None of us want to give you less than our best," said Eddie Van Halen. "And we are at our best

...Damn, that really took me back. Roth and VH acting like they're friends again, wanting concerts, wanting to make new albums, and Roth actually being like they used to be - it seems almost too good. I don't have high hopes though, I noticed you said that it didn't go well the first time, I don't know why 'cause I don't remember it, but I'd assume that if Roth was the frontman there too they would have old issues come up again.

They look like they have a lot of energy, and really want to start things over again. Who knows, maybe they'll resurface and bring metal back to mainstream instead of emo and rap. But bad blood doesn't leave easy, so I've seen. Especially with these two, they had some...err, distasteful things to say about each other in the past.

And then even if they do come back full swing - life on the road is tough as hell for young people, but 50 year olds it must be hard on the bodies as well as the mind. ...Then again, I suppose the Stones are doing it too. Oh well, more power to them.
