What the fuck do we even have an MMA section for if we're not gonna talk about UFC 100? I don't care if it is technically the UFC's 134th event, damn it!

So its three main attractions are Lesnar/Mir II, GSP/Alves and Bisping/Henderson, eh?

Interesting.

I'm picking Lesnar to defeat Mir. He'll come out firing all cylinders again, take Mir to the floor, cautiously smother him, try not to get caught in a submission and possibly end the fight on the ground. Which is a shame, because I'm actually hoping for Mir to win.

GSP and Alves, well, this could be my inexperience talking, but I think Alves is about to get the beating of his life. I honestly don't think he would have beaten Matt Hughes nearly so decisively (or at all) if he'd be a real professional and made the weight for a fight. Sure, he hits hard, but that's about all he's got, right? This "most difficult fight of GSP's career" stuff is just the UFC hype machine going into overdrive.

Bisping and Henderson - no idea. If I had to pick one, I'd say Bisping.

As I’ve been saying in the other thread debating with my man Marquis, I think Brock is going to destroy Mir. I hate to trash Mir because I really do respect him, but Brock has everything going for him. In my opinion, he clearly has the stand-up advantage, and I strongly believe he will be able to take Mir down at will, and this time around... Mir won't catch Brock in a submission. In fact, a leg lock is literally the only submission you could ever defeat Brock with since you're never going to get his back and also because he’s big and strong enough to power out of triangles and arm bars. And since I'm sure Brock has learned how to defend the leg lock (I mean, after all, it's the easiest move to defend on the ground in the first place, which is why you hardly ever see someone get submitted to it), Mir doesn't stand a chance in my mind. I know one of Mir's plan is to take the fight into the later rounds and catch Brock there (he’s said this in interviews), but the problem is that in the later rounds Brock will be slippery as hell since he sweats profusely, so it'll be that much harder to catch him then like Mir plans to. So, in my opinion, this fight will be Brock vs. Heath Herring again, only in 5 rounds instead of 3.

As big of a mauling I believe Lesnar will put on Frank Mir, it's nothing compared to the ass beating I think GSP will lay on Thiago Alves. Alves has some strong striking and good takedown defense, but there's no way he'll be able to control this fight. Thiago Alves has been dominating his last few opponents because he's so much bigger than them and well… now he's entering the cage not just with someone who is his own size, but the Pound 4 Pound best fight in the World; the best motherfucking wrestler in MMA. I guarantee Alves won't be able to stop GSP's takedowns. And once GSP gets it to the ground, there will be absolutely NOTHING Alves will be able to do to stop GSP from doing whatever it is he wants to do to him. I'm predicting GSP to win by a ref stoppage in the 3rd.

I have Bisping all the way in his fight against Dan Henderson. Henderson is someone I deeply like and respect, but I don't see any kind of way he can defeat someone with the skills of Michael Bisping. Henderson's strongest attribute is his wrestling, and if you've seen Bisping's fights against Matt Hamill and Rashad Evans, then you saw that his take down defense is fantastic. And Hamill is one of the best grapplers in the entire World. And on the feet, Bisping is extremely technical and I see him totally picking apart Henderson. Henderson has a lot of power in his punches as he shown in his fight against Wanderlei Silva in PRIDE, but his striking isn't very good overall. And plus that's all he has is his punches, whereas Bisping has the total package on the feet. And Bisping's Jiu-Jitsu is great, too. Henderson has a puncher’s chance, but at the end of the day... I see Bisping winning by either a decision or TKO.

Jon Fitch vs. Paulo Thiago is going to be Fight of the Night, I guarantee it. I'm predicting a stand-up war with this one, and Jon Fitch having too much heart for Thiago to overcome it.

As far as the rest of the card… I'll be rooting for Alan Belcher, Stephan Bonner (man I hope his fight makes the main card), Mac Danzig, Jon Jones, and C.B. Dollaway. It should end up being an epic fucking show.

As a relative MMA noob, and being an avid Lesnar fan, I believe Lesnar might have the advantage in this fight. Essentially everything I've read and seen about the first fight had Lesnar simply dominating Mir, and I tend to believe the glancing blow to the back of Mir's head was a BS call by the ref. Even on the restart, Lesnar knocked Mir on his ass with a right hook, and simply left his foot out just a little too long. Nothing wrong, considering it was his 2nd MMA match, and in there with a semi-proven vet in Mir.

Lesnar is simply too damn big and to damn strong for armbars or armlocks to work on as well. I don't think you can get Lesnar to tap if you focus on his upper body, and I don't think Mir is going to want to stand and trade punches with the shaved bear. I also think Lesnar dominates on the mat as well. Again, I think Lesnar takes this, but you never know when the inexperience of Lesnar will show up. All it takes is a split second, and Mir can end the match much like the last time.

I'd have to say that I really think that Mir will win, he is a much crisper striker.... although he isn't the wrestler that Lesnar is, but with a dangerous BJJ game and submissions that will tear at the joints I think that Brock might be abit too cautious to take him down because of their first fight.

Brock has said in interviews that he wants to take Mir down and finish the fight on top. I don't know if he's just hyping himself, but maybe he's just confident. I don't think Mir will be able to prevent his takedowns.

Well, that's the only way he can win. Not just against Mir, but against anyone. Most likely, Brock doesn't have the technique of a punch down to be able to pull off a clean, flash knockout, and so far he has yet to try a submission attempt, even though he got Herring's back about a 1,000 times in his fight against him. So, flurries (as in knocking someone down and going nuts, like in the Couture fight) and Ground N’ Pound are the only ways Brock can defeat someone right now I believe.

Couldnt find this thread in the first 2 or 3 pages so im asuming it hasnt been made.

Now UFC 100 we get the rematch, Brock Lesnar Vs Frank Mir for the HW Title. Now who do you think is going to win, here is my thought :

- Lesnar will be slightly confused in this fight i think. Lesnar is a wrestler and can easily take down Mir, however he did the last time and payed as Mir got him in a Knee bar and Lesnar tapped. So IMO Lesnar will be scared to take down Mir.

- Punch for punch ? These guys IMO are about equal. Sure Lesnar has harder punches, but Mirs strikeing vs Nougeria was extremly good. He done ace at hitting and moving, and if he can employ this tactic vs Lesnar then Mir could get the upper hand on the standing battle to.

- Frank Mirs submission skills are nothing short of phenomenal. This man is a walking submission artist, IMO i think this is how Mir will win the fight, via some sort of submission.

Overall i think Round 1 will be not much action, a slight feeling out process and miby a few punches here and there. Round 2 will see a bit more of the same, but this time Mir landing some good hits on Lesnar. Round 3 i think is were this fight ends, Lesnar will get extremly frustrated and take Mir down, he may land alot on the ground but ultimatly i see Mir slipping another leg/foot lock onto Lesnar and making him tap.

Result = Frank Mir The New Undisputed Heavyweight Champion.

Now that we are 48 hours out from UFC's big event, I've been seeing a lot of this opinion out there on the internet...Does Brock Lesnar Deserve to Headline UFC 100?

I think it's a valid question. Here you have a guy that, fairly or unfairly, is still known as a former wrestler, the top dog in a fake sport, headling the biggest pay per view in Mixed Martial Arts history. Brock Lesnar is a big name, but a big name for what some feel, the wrong reason for MMA. Plus, Brock is only in his 4th fight with the company.

On the flipside, Brock Lesnar draws like a mother fucker in the UFC, with all three of his fights being in the top ten for pay per view draws last year. And, here stateside, we love a good heavyweight fight more so then anything. Heavyweights stateside make money, it's that way in wrestling, boxing, and MMA.

So the big question is, should Lesnar headline the UFC's biggest event to date?

Well, as UFC is an actual sporting enterprise, and conditioning/aging of talent is what is important, you have to give it to Lesnar to headline the Pay Per View that is currently taking place. Sure he is new, but he is ready for a match, he is the world champion, and he is what will make the UFC tops.

The man sells. A couple of us ordered his last Pay Per View event, and by the end of the night, 20 or more people were packed into the living room to see this match. Lesnar will draw more people to UFC 100 than any other man in the ring. Mir will counter that as much as he can.

And to have GSP on the card as well is great. GSP also draws huge numbers. In Canada, GSP is UFC, and does Canada ever love UFC (must remind us of our bear fighting ways).

This pay per view will be massive. casual fans, hardcore fans, wrestling fans, Canadian fans, British fans fresh off of TUF, everyone will be watching this.

So the big question is, should Lesnar headline the UFC's biggest event to date?

What people have to remember is that this wasn't the original plan. Brock Lesnar vs. Frank Mir 2 was going to happen at UFC 98, if I remember correctly, but Mir got injured. So, if Mir doesn't get injured, then Brock Lesnar and Mir don't headline this event. However, since he did, UFC 100 just fit the perfect timing for the fight to happen. It’s just timing why this fight is happening at UFC 100.

Anyway, to answer the question... does Brock Lesnar deserve it? Eh, that's hard to say. But you know who does deserve it? Frank Mir. Everything that man's been through and has overcome to get where he's currently at... he definitely deserves to headline a show of this magnitude. People forget that this man was going to be the UFC's biggest thing before his motorcycle accident. I mean, this guy was the shit and truly was on to some HUGE things for himself and the sport. But, the motorcycle accident happened, and well... the rest of the story is well documented.

The point is... if someone doesn't think Lesnar deserves to headline such an event, then there is opinion fine and probably right, but at the same time... they have to remind themselves just who Brock Lesnar is facing. And if the detractors can do that, then I think they'll feel much better about the situation, because there shouldn't be a soul out there who thinks that Mir doesn't deserve this.

I too I'm a relative noob when it comes to UFC and anything that has to do with MMA, but I'll still try to give my opinion on the Mir vs Lesnar fight for UFC 100. But when it comes to the Lesnar vs Mir fight tonight, I really don't see Lesnar being able to get the win. Sure, he'll give Mir a hell of a fight, but I still don't see him winning.

Mir was able to get the win in the last fight because Lesnar did a rookie mistake. Now, I do think Lesnar has improved and learned from their last outing, but the question is: Has he improved enough and has he learned enough to not get caught again?

I’m going to say not yet. He is still a relative rookie in MMA, and I think that once again Mir might catch him with a mistake or he might take him down and get the win. I think Mir will win this fight and become the undisputed UFC Heavyweight Champion, but it should still be a great fight.

Now that we are 48 hours out from UFC's big event, I've been seeing a lot of this opinion out there on the internet...Does Brock Lesnar Deserve to Headline UFC 100?

I think it's a silly question. Does Brock Lesnar deserve to Headline UFC 100? Of course he does. He's the f'cking UFC Heavyweight champion. He's involved in the Unification of both titles into proving whose THE undisputed Heavyweight champion. He didn't get handed the slot for no reason, he beat the legend Randy Couture to become the Heavyweight champion. He earned the victory and he earned the championship. Why would the UFC not want their biggest match, the unification match, to headline UFC 100? And because of that, how can you say he doesn't deserve to headline it in that case when he's the Heavyweight champion! But bigger match is there that you, or anyone else, believes deserves to headline UFC 100 over Lesnar vs. Mir for the undisputed Heavyweight championship?

My predictions:

Lesnar vs. Mir - I think Lesnar will learn from his mistakes. He's had a great deal of time to correct them, to develop and grow as a fighter, and he certainly has all the motivation in the world and a motivated Brock Lesnar seems like a very, very dangerous thing. He had Mir beat in the first fight, I think, if it had gone further and he hadn't gotten the shot to the back of the head that forced them to stand back up.. and I really see Lesnar being even more explosive and strong a threat then he was in that first fight. I think he might just overwhelm Mir unless he makes some mistake or Mir gets lucky with a hold.

St. Pierre vs. Alves - I'm hoping for St. Pierre to win and cement his legacy further, and I think he can certainly do it. He's phenomenal and as much as St. Pierre "supposedly" hasn't faced anyone like Alves and this is his greatest challenge.. Alves hasn't faced anyone like St. Pierre. I think St. Pierre's skills will prevail.

Good show, not great.

Brock Lesnar absolutely fucking DESTROYED Frank Mir tonight. Even though I predicted it, I still couldn't believe it. During Mir's entrance, all my friends were all anticipating the ass kicking he was about to receive, and I was sitting there thinking to myself, "I think Mir just might shock all these people." And boy... I was fucking wrong. Mir was manhandled the entire fight, basically. The 1st Round Brock just pounded his fucking face in. In the 2nd, we all actually thought Mir stood a chance after hitting that beautiful flying knee, but fuck... that thing led to his demise. I think Lesnar showed though he had a chin by taking that knee because it nailed him right on the button. But he took it, got in perfect position, and just killed Mir. Unbelievable. And Brock after the fight... what can you say? You can say it's classless, but my friends got a kick out of it. I guess if you're a Brock Lesnar/casual MMA fan like my friends are, you love it, but if you're a fan of Frank Mir or just MMA in general... it kind of rubs you the wrong way. I'm indifferent about it, though.

As I predicted, GSP kicked Alves ass the entire fight. I knew Alves wasn't going to be able to stop that machine's takedown. And how about the toughness and heart GSP has in him, huh? Jesus... a pulled groin and he kept controlling Alves like he did? Fuck that... GSP is Pound 4 Pound the best fighter in the World and that's all there is to it. He proved that tonight, and I'm proud to be a fan of his.

And to quote GSP... "I was not impressed by your performance." I'm talking about Dan Henderson. Now, in my place I was the only one rooting for the Brit, so when Hendo knocked out Bisping and the place exploded... my heart sunk. I thought that entire fight was going to be Bisping just dodging that overhand right, but that lucky son of a bitch nailed one. And trust me... that shit was luck. The dude closed his eyes, put his head down, and just swung the sucker. And that's all he did the ENTIRE fight. Let that motherfucker try the same shit against Anderson Silva. I hope he does. He's going to get killed. And I have nothing against Henderson for the record, but that win was bullshit. Just like Josh Koscheck... a damn wrestler who's strong as shit, but can't strike worth a damn, but thinks so and throws the overhand right repeatedly. Just because you catch someone... that shit does not impress me.

A lot of bitching over the Yoshihiro Akiyama/Alan Belcher fight I've been hearing/reading, and I disagree. I thought it was a fair decision. Belcher's shots look harder and were more devastating, but Akiyama landed way more clean shots in that fight and even got a couple of takedowns. I gave him both Round 2 and Round 3, and gave Belcher Round 1 because of the drop.

And Jon Fitch vs. Paulo Thiago was unfortunately a snoozefest. Nothing special. I'm glad Fitch won, though.

And I was sadden none of the preliminaries aired and to hear Stephan Bonnar lost his fight against Mark Coleman. I'll watch that later to see if I agree with the decision. And Danzig losing his 3rd straight fight and Dollaway getting his ass handed so quickly sucked hearing about as well. But it was awesome to hear Jon Jones had another great performance.

Decent event.

Lesnar Vs. Mir. I'll have to give Brock his props, he controlled Mir perfectly on the ground throughout the fight. As Mir pointed out, it was quite dumb to let someone like Lesnar take control of your wrists like that, but whatever. Look forward to a possible third match, which i think will likely happen. They're 1-1 right now against each other, so assuming Mir stays on track we should see a third match up soon enough.

GSP Vs. Alves. Wow, and here i thought GSP would have trouble with Alves. Alves had no trouble defending Hughes, and Koschecks takedowns, but couldn't defend GSP's. GSP has proven again why he has the best wrestling in MMA today. Every time Alves would throw that leg kick he would get punished with a takdown attempt, smart gameplan on GSP's part. After this one sided beatdown i really think there's nothing left for GSP at WW. Winner of Kampmann Vs. Swick gets the next title shot. Can't see either one bringing something to the table that GSP hasn't already faced and beaten. Hopefully a match up against Anderson goes down.

Henderson Vs. Bisping. Hilarious, really it is. Bisping fights his first top tier MW and gets completely dominated. I had Hendo winning this one by decision since i actually thought Bisping would put up a better fight. I expected him to pull the same gameplan he pulled on Leben, but Henderson was always ahead of him throughout the whole fight. Aside from the fact he kept circling towards Hendo's power hand as Hendo and Rogan pointed out, he would let his back end up against the cage. Hendo would chase him down and corner him against the cage, obviously making it hard to dodge his heavy right hand. Bisping looked dead after that knockout, the second punch after he was done was a bit much, but its expected since he doesn't like Bisping. I'm curious as to where Hendo goes from here, i don't think he'll get a title shot right now. He will most likely have to face off against Okami or the winner of Maia/Marquardt.

Akiyama Vs. Belcher. Words can't describe how hard i marked the fuck out during this fight. First off, he came in with his trademark entrance. Which instantly made me MTFO. Then Rogan and Goldie called him by his nickname that was given to him by online MMA fans over at some other site, "Sexyama". Which was the biggest MTFO moment for me. Akiyama looked great in his fight against Belcher, hands down won the fight in my eyes. Round 1 was even till Belcher got the knockdown, so i give round 1 to Belcher. Round 2 clearly went to Akiyama who was controlling him on the ground for most of the round. Round 3 was also a bit even, but then Akiyama knocked Belcher down with a punch, and got a takedown at the end of the round. One of the judges scored it 30-27 Akiyama, which is a bit exaggerated, but nonetheless i felt Akiyama won this fight, and so did the judges. Real happy for Akiyama, I've been following his career over in japan and I'm a big fan. I hope he finds great success in the UFC.

Undercard didn't air, but i did get to see Thiago Vs. Fitch. Good grappling match, Fitch proved hes got a great ground game. Hope to see Fitch get a top ranked opponent next, hopefully see him fighting again for the title soon enough. According to the undercard results Coleman actually fuckin beat Bonnar via unanimous decision. I was fuckin shocked to read a 45 year old Coleman managed to get a UD over Bonnar. Either Coleman still has something left in him, or Bonnar is on a slump.

I was only able to watch two of the fights because the stream I was watching kept messing up, but I’m glad the two fights I got to see where the GSP vs. Alves and the Mir vs. Lesnar.

I want to put my opinion on the main event first. I was not expecting at all for Lesnar to dominate and destroy Mir the way he did. I was actually expecting for Mir to win that fight, but I was still impressed at the way Lesnar won. I am actually still in awed at the way he just got him down and just started throwing punch after punch relentlessly. I was entertained throughout the bout and I thought it was pretty good.

As far as Lesnar’s antics, I don’t really mind them. He is just such a good a natural heel (sorry for the wrestling lingo) and he really played to the crowd with what he said after the fight and for his antics like the flicking off the fans. I think he just continued doing what he did because he knows that most of the MMA purists hate him, so why not have some fun?

As far as the GSP vs. Alves fight, I was fairly entertained. I was expecting for GSP to win, but that’s mostly because I only hear good things about him and how he is one of the best pound for pound fighters in the world. Like I said I was fairly entertained by the match and there was one thing that I noticed. GSP has passion and heart for MMA. Never have I seen someone continue anything after an injury we knew about. We have seen people continue a match in wrestling but most of the time we didn’t know they got injured and continued. GSP is definitely a man to truly admire for how much passion and heart he has for MMA.

Brock Lesnar is a douchebag. I like the guy. I think he's a good fighter. He's funny and he's probably in my top ten professional wrestlers of all time. Unfortunately, the man is still a douchebag. After watching the mutual respect of Alves and GSP, Brock's complete lack of respect for his opponent was even more apparent. I was gutted when he went on to defeat Mir, and defeat him without any great degree of difficulty. But hey, shit happens. His promo at the end was better than anything he ever did in the WWE:

"I'm gonna go home and drink a Coors Light. A Coors Light, 'cos Bud Light won't pay me nothin'..."

Speaking of Alves/GSP, I predicted that GSP would show that it wasn't really the biggest challenge of his career, but Jesus. It wasn't Lesnar/Mir type domination, but he took Alves down with ease and style whenever he wanted to. Good fight.

I've gotta say, I was a little bit disappointed when Bisping got knocked the fuck out by ol' Hendo. Watching them put subtitles over Bisping's interviews was pretty funny - although I'll admit that even I have trouble understanding his stupid Manc accent sometimes. I suppose he got what was coming to him. All the same, my national pride is a-hurtin'.

Sexyama made his debut in the UFC in what I remember to be a good match. It was a while ago now; I'm having trouble remembering. I'll be honest, I thought he'd won the match. I don't think he stole anything. Everybody on board the Sexwagon!

Fucking the event was awesome. Maybve the berst event I have ever seen. The main card had TM predict 4 out of 4 match, meaning TM became fucking RICH tonight. Luckily there was a guy from fucking England here, and he bet on team England, and I was all like fuck England, TEAM AMERICA will win , and team Xtreme yougurt did win. fucking great to see GSP go for 25 minutes and win his match. As a fucking Candian my respedct for that guy is huge. I called my frined who is canadin and he as all like YAY GSP. huge patriats us Canadians are. And Lesnar winning was obvious vause he fucking rocks.!Q

Ill spell check this in the morning. What do you guys thing? best PPV ever?

Yes.

Yes it was.

I didn't see the whole thing. I caught highlights of GSP vs Alves and it looked pretty damn good. I did watch Lesnar vs Mir on YouTube. Mir got owned, which I kind of expected seeing as how Lesnar isn't the same fighter as he was in their first fight. He's got 2 more fights experience under his belt, he didn't make a lot of mistakes really. I'm a noob MMA fan as well, but whatever. I definitely didn't like the complete showing of disrespect Lesnar showed by giving the finger to the crowd and spitting in the camera and acting like a complete imbecile. He could have acted a little bit better, but it's all good, he did earn the right to act as cocky as he was.

This was my first MMA show and I have the same general conclusion that I've always had: MMA is ok. It's not great but it's certainly not terrible. It was somewhere in the middle. Lesnar is a scary man to say the least. That was an absolute massacre as Mir got in a good looking knee and Lesnar barely even moved from it. Mir got anihilated and I LOVED Lesnar's post match bitching. It brings a personality to him. In wrestling, why do you watch faces try to stop heels? Because you hate the heel and want to see him lose. If Lesnar is enough of a jerk, people will pay to see if someone can beat him, and that's brilliant.

The rest of the show was good. There were moments where I marked out and moments where I was hoping it would just end. Overall, I liked it but it's not something I'll be going out of my way to see. If it's on I might watch it, but not like I would wrestling.

I absoultely loved the Mir vs. Lesnar match, and pretty much, Lesnar is going to be the Man in the UFC now. He was already the biggest draw, but he might damn well be the first mega draw for MMA. His antics after the match were fantastic, and don't kid yourself, us as wrestling fans should be happy that Lesnar disrespected Mir the way he did. All Mir had done was bitch about Lesnar being a fake wrestler, but the fake wrestler whooped his ass last night, and should have won the first match as well.

GSP might very well be my new favorite Canadian. The guy was all class, and it was a solid all around fight.

As far as Henderson, what he did to Bispin on the way to the canvas was bullshit. Hitting a guy with a power punch when he was clearly knocked out was far more classless and tasteless then anything Brock Lesnar did at the end of the night.

I excused Henderson until he seemed to imply that he knew that Bisping was unconscious when he dropped that shot onto him. Needless to say, I wasn't exactly impressed. It's like leaving a choke hold on after your opponent has tapped to "teach him a lesson".

Well, almost.

Perfect acceptable second shot by Henderson. I doubt that during a match you'll know that your opponent is out of it for certain. And Bisping was unconscious . I'm of the opinion that if you don't remember it then it didn't happen.
