Twitter in the WWE

The King of Swing
1st off let me say that i hate twitter. i dont give a dam what anyone is doing at any given point in the day, especially famous people. facebook is bad enough

im fine with wrestlers and such having twitter and what not because as long as i dont have twitter i dont have to hear their crap. but the rocks promo last raw was literally only about twitter. twittertainemnt? you gotta be kidding me. i mean they mention twitter every 5 minutes. its just annoying and according to an article on the main page vince sees twitter as great and loves every part of it.

now how do you feel about all the twitter use in the wwe today? do you like it? think its ok but maybe a little less focus on it? or do you want it completely out like i do?

It doesn't matter whether you hate it or not, is a method for WWE to promote their name and their performers. They've taken a social media, grabbed it by the balls and plan to milk it as much as they can. They see trending as an important thing to do because it means people are discussing it, when you trend worldwide then you've got people discussing the event so much that it rises above what others are posting.

I may not like the idea and yeah last night they attempted to shove it down our throats a bit, but you'll need to get used to it, because last night WWE dominated Twitter so the idea is working.

Taking advantage of a huge form of social media, like WWE have done, is genius. I don't get why everyone hates it so much.

If they show kayfabe tweets, then it's a good way of furthering a storyline without having to use valuable air-time on promos. When they talk about what's trending, that encourages viewers to tweet, which in turn increases WWE's mainstream prominence.

Even if you find it a bit annoying, the focus on Twitter in WWE isn't important. Pick your battles. There are more important things to complain about.

Lets face it those of us who find this twitter use stupid can put this in the box of why we hate Michael Cole. If Cole wasn't annoying enough during his Lawler feud and his ongoing feud with JR you add this annoyance is just another reason why Michael Cole is hated. When he talks about twitter non-stop during matches it's just too much to take and it's a channel changer.

As stated previously it's a genius idea for WWE to exploit Twitter. I really can't stand it, an feel it's flat out dumb, and I also don't give a crap what the hell people are doing. But you gotta rememer McMahon is running a business, and from that aspect you outta capitalize on it. We're seeing every major corporation adopting social media. But WWE could water it down a little more, because Michael Cole mentions is toooo often. I don't care how many ppl follow him, I'm here to watch the programming.

Im not too annoyed with it as some people are. At least WWE is with the times in the age of Social Media with Facebook/Twitter/etc. I think its kinda cool to see what Fans are talking about during the Shows. So I am fine with it overall.

I don't get involved in it so I am on Team Enough Already with Da Twitter References. But I get the point, WWE can't stand alone on their ratings anymore. The market is saturated with TV channels and the younger audience can't stay up late enough or just watch the shows via a DVR. They need a new medium to dominate that they can brag about and show advertisers their popularity. Social media is the media of choice right now. It also makes sense when building a younger audience to capitalize on a medium that the audience can claim as part of their generation.

In the end though, I find it distracting from the show. Hopefully this is just a temporary push to get a new crop of followers and they will back off once they meet their goals.

Some of you would make terrible executives. As stated above its good promotional tool and another way for fans to interact with the WWE Superstars/Divas and vice versa.

Exploiting Twitter is a good idea. Their execution of said idea is poor. It's getting to the point of being unbearable. It's even worse, considering how clueless most of the people talking about it on camera are.

It wasn't too bad today, or at Survivor Series

It had become unbearable the last month on Raw but it seems like they're finally calming down now that they have a feature on their website.

i think they should just let the tweets speak for themselves Rather than give the commentators this task.(now hold on a moment i shall explain)

Keep the commentators talking about matches/fueds/booker t making no sense all you want... then "oh whats that on the screen? cena4heel is trending on twitter" hmmm as i have eyes i saw that by myself with no prompting from Michael Cole, i wish to go on twitter to bash cena with the world"

twitter needs to be used for what it is a "social" network, direct people to it and leave them to it. Those who cannot read wouldn't understand or be able to find twitter anyway.

saturating something TOO MUCH is the point here, WWE imo needs to stop over doing something that only works when its not over done
