TUF 14: Team Mayhem vs Team Bisping

Window Licker 101

Too interesting
Middleweights Michael Bisping and Jason "Mayhem" Miller will serve as coaches on the upcoming 14th season of "The Ultimate Fighter."

UFC president Dana White today confirmed the assignments with MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com). MMA.tv initially reported the selections.

The season begins filming in June and debuts on Spike TV in September.

Bisping (21-3 MMA, 11-3 UFC) and Miller (24-7 MMA, 0-1 UFC) will meet in a season-ending fight at an event to be determined.

For the time in series history, "TUF 14" is expected to feature bantamweight and featherweight fighters. A 28-man, 32-slot tournament will be used. After an elimination round of fights, an official cast of 14 fighters will be determined. Two opening-round losers then will get second life as wild-card picks who fight for the eighth spot in the quarterfinal bracket.

Bisping, who won "TUF 3" and coached on "TUF 9," and Miller, who recently left Strikeforce and signed with the UFC, take the spots that were rumored to be going to a variety of fighters. Dominick Cruz, Urijah Faber, Chael Sonnen, Brian Stann, Georges St-Pierre, Nick Diaz and others all had been speculated as possibilities.

Sonnen, in fact, had the spot opposite Bisping. But unable to get a second's ("cornerman") license due to his fight ongoing fight following a recent California State Athletic Commission, Sonnen instead was replaced by Miller. (Bisping said he was "gutted" by the decision.)

Miller, in fact, is slated to fight Aaron Simpson at July's UFC 132 event, though that fight is expected to be scratched.

This is awesome! I love this pairing. Bisping is disliked by alot of fans and Mayhem has a solid reputation due to hosting MTV's Bully Beatdown and his renowned outlandish personality. In the long run I think the fight between the two coaches will be better for both men as both fighter's achilles heel was wrestling and being removed from fights against Aaron Simpson and (rumoured) Chael Sonnen will benefit both coaches and hopefully we get a great slugfest. I think this season will be great!

Meh, I don't really want to watch either of those clowns for a full season. I would much prefer to see Bisping and Sonnen coach down the road and just have Dominick Cruz and Urijah Faber do TUF 14 since it is the first time guys their size get to be on the show. Also, even though it mentions Miller vs. Simpson will likely be scratched, it hasn't yet and this just shows the UFC is being a little big in the britches and putting all their faith in Miller. I would be severely pissed off if I was Aaron Simpson right about now.

On the bright side, both guys are characters and will make for an entertaining season, unlike the current season. Hopefully they can pick up some exciting fighters, shouldn't be that big of a problem considering the weight class, and also I hope they get some guys with personality. TUF 14 needs to be a pick up from the current season and put the excitement back into the show.

Honestly, this was the best option with Chael Sonnen not able to participate.

Mayhem Miller and Michael Bisping are both guys you either really love or you really hate. There aren't many fans who feel indifferent towards them, and that's why they're going to make great coaches, especially Mayhem who lives to be in front of a camera and will do anything he can to get under Bisping's skin and give those watching great entertainment.

These coaches, with the little guys banging it out... just what TUF needs.

War Mayhem.

Mayhem's an entartaining fella but I just feel he isn't high enough on the middleweight hierarchy to be a coach on the Ultimate Fighter but I'm not too disappointed, he's pretty entertaining guy- and WILL definitely not take Bispings douchiness on the chin and exert the frustration in the cage. They're going to engage in a verbal and competetive war, it'll be good.

I'm really looking forward to the coming season, tiny guys with Cardio to last 10 5 minute rounds, fights to get in again, and the man himself, the Leader of the Monkey Cult as one of the coaches.

I also think mayhem is going to be a hard fight for Bis, and honestly i lean towards mayhem in this fight.
