Tri-Top: AC/DC

Mr. TM

Throwing a tantrum
One of rocks biggest stars, the Australian group AC/DC, a band who has had two lead singers over its years, and dozens of singles, but which ones are your favourite?

The Razor's Edge- A song that is made by its guitar riff, which combined with its raw emotion and edginess, the song will send shivels down your sides. The Lead vocals being compared to the background voacls gives this song such a nice sound.

For Those About To Rock- I almost feel this song has a similar feel to it that The Razor's Edge has, but with a wider array of sound. There used to be a video games that I played this song to while playing it. It always gets stuck in my head when I think about it.

T.N.T.- Really, AC/DC's almost punk like roots come through in this song. It is so catchy, really getting into my head with the game Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4. Now it is one of the few AC/DC I keep on play lists to listen to while doing... the things I do I guess.

Fucking awesome choice, my personal favorite group of all time so this is a tough one for me.

Hells Bells How can you not love this song. Classic intro symbolizing you walking up to the gates of hell. The lyrics dont let down either giving you the feeling of hell coming up and taking over. I love everything about this song, intro, chorus, versus, and them giving you a feeling of what hell is

Thunderstruck Once again great intro. I love how Brian Johnson has that slow delivery to lead into a faster pace mode then a pause then the chorus. Plus Thunderstruck can mean so many different things from beating an opponent in a sport to showing a girl a good time in the bedroom. Truely a dynamic song.

Now before i say my third, i have to say i have every AC/DC cd made so i know my material. With that said my third song....

Rock N Roll Train I firmly believe if this song was made 20 yrs ago we would be talking about these guys as being bigger than they are. The chorus is one that just sticks with you like For Those About To Rock or You Shook Me All Night Long. This is the song that proves that the boys still have it.

This is a good thread. I hope that you'll be doing this for more bands. I'll hopefully learn more about some older groups and such. Oh, and good selections.

Highway to Hell - If I didn't plan fully on going to heaven, I'd like to have this played as they lower my casket into the ground or cremate me. ;)

T.N.T. - I've chosen this one for the same reason as TM. It gets you pumped. I can't help but sing along when I here this one. I laughed when I saw that TM mentioned the Tony Hawk game. That's where I first heard this song.

Back in Black - This song is great. Nearly everyone knows it. It's one of those songs that you can just listen to any time you want to and enjoy it. I remember once my mom picked me up from a volleyball game with the windows down and this song just blasting. We rocked out to it for a moment. It's dorky, but that's one of my favorite memories with my mom.

Thunderstruck - Everybody knows that guitar intro, and everybody loves it. The song just gives off a feeling of power, and always manages to get me pumped up. The crowd singing throughout the song is a great touch and Brian Johnson's vocals and the way he sings "Thunderstruck" during the chorus just add to the song's feeling of power.

Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap - My favourite AC/DC song. The best part of the song is when Malcolm Young says the last line in the chorus, "Dirty deeds done dirt cheap." It gives the song that hard rock, gritty feel to it, as does the breathing during the verses that you can hear. And this has one of AC/DC's best solos.

Highway To Hell - This song is known as one of the greatest rock songs ever. That opening riff is just so catchy, and full of aggression, that you can't help but to love this song. And it's so easy to just sing along to it. "I'm on the Highway To Hell!"

This is funny, FTS and I had just discussed this song earlier (Hopefully FTS shares his favourite songs here!:P) and the song Dirty Deeds was discussed. He thought the song said "Dirty Deeds and their done down her chin?" Something similar to that. I thought it was hilarious. Now it is a great song, accompanied with like you said one of their best solos, and that is true. It is alsoone of my favourite AC/DC songs, probably around #5 because of the grittiness that the song offers. Great choice!

Let There Be Rock - A great and catchy song with an awesome opening with the drums and bass. It's almost impossible for me to not sing along when it goes 'Let there be guitar....there was guitar, oh LET THERE BE ROCK!!". Pure ACDC right there and definately up on my faveourite song list.

Highway To Hell - Pretty much everyone everywhere has heard this song, it's a widely known song and it deserves to be. Great lyrics, great music and over all a great concept for a song and it's hard to not sing a long too as well. I like 48.7's idea too, that would be wicked.

Rock N Roll Train - I had trouble deciding between this song and Thunderstruck but I decided to pick this song because it's pure ACDC and shows that unlike a lot of bands who come back, ACDC still had it in them to make a song which sounds like something we could have heard from ACDC a long time ago. As Michael Cole would say, it's "vintage". Vintage ACDC that is. It's them completely even though it's new, they were still able to bring that RAW ACDC sound with them into today's day and age.

Ride On-Obviously a very different choice from the many selected already and one of my personal favourites. As slow and as mellow of a song you'll ever hear from AC/DC, I like the whole flow and feel of the song and as always Angus accompanies it with some awesome guitar work. Interesting side note, it was the last song ever sang by Bon Scott at a concert before his untimely death. Awesome song in general.

Shoot to Thrill-An under-appreciated song off the Black Album, I really like the pace and speed of the lyrics and the song in general. Brain Johnson does an excellent job with the vocals, the song in general reminds me of a slightly faster version of 'girls got rhythm' which is another good song. Good solos by Angus, I love the ending when it slows down a little then builds up into a big finale.

Have a Drink on me-Far from their best song, this song makes the list because it's my favourite bar song (and why wouldn't it be) and rather than choice between 3 or 4 other really good songs, I decided I'd put this song instead, also off the Black Album (goes with out saying, damn that was a good album (ahh damn, I said it)). Fun little song.

Other Notables: Rock and Roll Ain't Noise Pollution, Let There Be Rock, It's a Long Way to the Top, Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap
