Legendary scientist and storm chaser Tim Samaras died, along with his son and a member of his Twistex chasing crew, this weekend while chasing a monster storm in Tornado Alley.
The news has broken on any major networks yet, but I have a friend that's a friend of Reed Timmer's photographer that confirmed the story. Looking around on Twitter, and the news seems to be backed up by a few more sources.
Tim was on Storm Chasers, but is pretty much due all the credit for what modern day chasers do. His work was unparalleled in understanding how storms work, how to predict their movements, and helping us better understand how to save people from insane natural disasters.
R.I.P.
