Three Hour Shows?

Beating the odds since 1993
I have looked at the threads here and see that the major problem with WWE seems to be the underutilization of talent especially low and mid card talent. With a three hour show, WWE would have more time to put their lower card talent on the major shows. it would make for better feuds in the low to high card talents because, quite simply, there would be more time to develop a better feud. Also, match qualities would likely rise because there would longer, more well thought action going on inside the ring.

I do not see a downside to lengthening the shows except for the channel providers like US and SYFY but i am sure it could be arranged. Do you agree or is this a bad idea in disguise?

I think if the WWE get's its own network then it would be a great idea. the problem with doing it now is the question of would the networks have it that way? a lot of prices and values would change financially, so it would have to be worked out before it could atcually be done, but it's a great idea if they really want to establish the younger guys while keeping their staples. The thing is, will they want to push the younger guys, or would an extra hour mean more Cena promos, and more Cole moments.

I agree it would just turn into WCW Nitro when it was 3 hrs and they had the Nitro girls dancing for 30 min in the first hour. The just need to trim down the promos that they have now and do some more wrestleing.

I think it would be fine if they used it to help promote some of the younger guys and guys not utilized very much. I don't mind the promo's if they are good and entertaining. I mean the guys that are not very good could do something where they don't say much, but lets make more grudges in some of the fueds. A nice back and forth like Macho and Jake had, or the Hogan and Andre fued. I feel we are missing some of the feeling behind the feuds now. If they had more feeling and angst about things I think things would be better.

The 3 hour specials don't really be there to show off the low card talent, it's usually there for special purposes e.g. Slammy's where they would just have a few matches but more of the entertainment side.. Just like Mania, it's always 1 hour longer than normal ppv's, it's a special ppv and this year we had the rock come out and talk on a ppv, normally it's just matche after match, and we had a lot of backstage segments aswell..

F no, what WWE need is not more time but less air time. It was so annoying when they had 3 hours show every 2 weeks a while ago. They need to cut down their airing time if they want to fight the wrestling fatigue. Most of the people just watch Raw because that's enough already. Then there's Smackdown!, Superstar (I think it's still up for now, is it?), NXT and Tough Enough... ENOUGH ALREADY!

They need to cut talent, first talent and do one or two show max and cut the cost of a PPV then it may be good.

The difference right now is like a sport league with 15 team or 30, tere's not enough talent anyway, only Cena is considered a Rock, Austin, HHH, Taker, Kane, Mick Foley, Kurt Angle and Chris Jericho, HBK main event type of guy right now. They need less guy on the roster, and less show (I know it won't happen just like sports leagues have way too much team these days because the person in charge want more money but still.

TNA can do a 3 hour show since they only have 1 (well two but still), but WWE need to cut down the hour per week they are asking the average user to give. We used to look forward to Raw, I always hater the concept of Smackdown! and I still do. At least right now I just stop seeing some wrestlers instead of losing half the feud when I don't watch it.

I use to love some of those 3 hour Nitros back in the day. Especially when they could fill the whole time slot with both wrestling and promos.

It's a great idea, if they use that time as necessary. Not have 40 minutes dedicated to one feud, but have delegated correctly. With a 3 hour Raw, you might be able to bring back some good 10 minute cruiser-weight battles, and revised the tag team division.

Hell, you can even bring in some new talent and get them exposure they need to grow. Not also that, but you can create a mid-card that the people would want to see. Call me nuts, but it would work out.

How many times have I read... Why don't they use Ted Jr.! Why don't they use Zac Ryder more often. With a properly utilized 3 hour show, we can!

3 hour SmackDown would work, if done correctly. The reason why, is cause they have a lot of guys they don't use as well. Maybe just for dark matches, but other then that, they have the same problems.

If some of the extra feuds get some exposure. That could mean more pay-per-view buys. Because we are given extra characters to watch. Plus it could make a Pay-per-view more meaningful.

If they do a three hour show, they would have to scrap NXT and Superstars, but that's okay.

Great idea, if done properly!

I like the concept of the Three Hour Special shows of RAW!!!
E.g Slammy Awards or 1000 episode and stuff like that!!

But a Random Three Hour Special should be done for estabilish or create feuds and for fighting once in a while for World Tittles in some different matches!!
It should be used to show what a guy can do, but without exaggeration!! One show that can be done once in three monts! (4 shows in a year)
They should also do that on SD!, because SD! is becoming so good as RAW!:worship:

It up for Creative and to Vince, they know what is the best for the WWE COMPANY!

But if they do something like that, i would dig that! :p

I think, personally, that the concept of a three-hour show could be used in two ways:

1. 3-hours specials. These shows would be slanted towards entertainment segments, nostalgia acts and generally not feature much of the lower-end of the card.

2. A regular 3-hour show. This one should highly feature lower end members of the card, as a process of making them known to the fans and developing their skills and attributes. They also help provide the wrestling part of the show while the main stars have more time ensure that any storyline can be properly booked and built.

As it is, the WWE always leans more to the former with good reason. It's not economical or profitable to run a continual 3-hour show since it required a large roster, or logistically possible to ensure it's so with every television provider in every country. A 2 hour show provides similar levels of wrestling output if booked correctly, and it makes 3-hour specials something big rather than the norm.

I think if every episode of Raw was three hours than we would actually have an overall better product. The key would be to have it on its own WWE network which would allow this, because the other networks may not be as keen on the idea. I think that a three hour episode in general would allow for more actual promos and more matches. I think this would be a very great way to help the midcard.

The only set back I see is then the three hour episodes would be a little similiar to PPV's so WWE would have to make sure they show the difference. I think this would be good in general for the WWE and the themed Raw episodes can be mostly all wrestling with the gimmick invovlved for the night, where as a normal Raw wwe would see a mix.

I also belive that if we were to have three hour episodes, I would love to see cross brand feuds. I think if their was more cross brand feuds than it would allow more publicity to both shows.

Also WWE could earn extra money by selling more comercials, so possibly they could put the money into purchasing more stars, to fill up more of the time.

I think all in all this is a very good idea for them to try to fufill.

Yeah I would like to see 3 hour episodes of Raw with the last hour aimed at a slightly more adult audience..like the old War Zone... also less PPV's. I think storylines/fueds would build into something much better than they do now.
