They question is which are you looking forward to seeing more?, After watching both trailers I would have to say that Thor has peaked my interest more than Green Lantern, Thor looks to have a better cast, better story, better action, better special effects, pretty much better everything, Green Lantern looks like it could be good, but I have a feeling the animated movie they released to DVD is going to be better than the this live action one that hits theaters this coming June, personally if I was only able to see one then my money is going to Thor, it just looks like the more entertaining and fun movie of the two, however I do like Green Lanterns poster a tad more than the Thor poster

Thor easily.

Thor looks like it could be a solid film. I'm a big fan of Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins being in any movie can always be a plus, and the rest of the cast looks decent enough. It looks like there's going to be a lot of good action scenes here, and the special effects seem to be okay. I've never been a big fan of Thor, but I'm going to watch this, because Thor could be nice blockbuster/popcorn movie.

I like Ryan Reynolds. I really do, but I've watched this trailer a bunch of times, and I just can't get into this movie. The CGI looks kind of bad, and the action/fight scenes do look kind of cartoonish. Also, the rest of the cast for this movie doesn't excite me at all. I'm going to watch Green Lantern, but I don't have any high expectations for this one.

Neither. Both look freaking terrible. I hope Green Lantern flops hard (Ryan Reynolds's suit is the most hilarious thing I've ever seen, and I don't mean that in a good way). Thor...well, if it does well, it does well. To the best of my knowledge, there are four superhero movies coming out this summer. I haven't seen a preview for X Men: First Class yet, but, of the other three, Captain America looks the most appealing.

Kinda surprised you didn't mention Captain America as well. Saw the first preview during the Super Bowl.

Of these 2 I don't know which I'd say I'm more interested in. I've never been that big of a fan of Thor, but comic book movies at the very least are usually entertaining so I'll at least watch them once.

And as for Green Lantern, I have to say I've never followed his character at all, so I'm at least going to watch just to get some kind of insight into his story.

As for actors, Natalie Portman is usually very good and Anthony Hopkins is always very good, so that makes me think the movie itself has a lot of potential. And I've always enjoyed Ryan Reynolds, but having him lead with no one major backing him up makes me believe that his movie will be entertaining, but nothing special.

I completely forgot Captain America was coming out this summer until I saw the trailer for it last night, Captain America is a super hero movie that just seems like it should have been a no brainier and should have been made years ago, from the 30 second spot I saw last night, Capt. America could easily be the best super hero movie to come out this summer, as for X-men: First Class, does anyone even care about his movie, from what I understand Marvel didn't even want it made and is supposedly not doing anything to promote it at all

Green Lantern does look stupid, and I really want it to be good, the story and character have a ton of potential, and I like Reynolds, but the special effects in this just look like shit, and the trailer really doesn't do much to get me excited about the movie, it seems like when ever DC decides to throw their characters on the big screen they are either hit (Batman Begins, Watchmen, V for Vendetta, TDK) or miss in a big way (Superman Returns, Jonah Hex), Green Lantern looks like it's gonna be another huge miss

It's Thor for me. Thor is one of my favorite heroes and I think a film based around him could be brilliant. I hope they don't discount the appeal of Norse mythology (a huge part of the comics of course) and make him really just a hero with thunder god powers that's stranded on earth. It looks like the main bad guy is going to be Ultimo, and that sucks as it should be Loki, but I count on awesome fight scenes no matter who the bad guy is. Furthermore, Natalie Portman. Enough said.

I'm not a Green Lantern fan in the first place, and Van Wilder/Monty as a super hero is something I can't buy into. It looks like it's going to be a botch of a movie, so I'll pass on that.

Personally, neither of these movies managed to stir up anything in me until I did some research on the subjects. Here is what I think about both:

The Green Lantern

Why does this movie have such a strong link to The Lord Of The Rings? I mean seriously, I watched the trailer a couple of days ago and could not get over how many things were ripped from the aforementioned series of movies. That being said, I guess it adds some sort of humour that, without it, looks completely bland and emotionless.

I like Ryan Reynolds but I don't think he is right for this role. Considering the last movie I saw him in was Buried, I am not too excited about this opportunity for him. He is a great comedy actor and his performances in Van Wilder and Scrubs left me in stitches but I don't think this is the correct role for him. Good for him breaking his typecast though, it was about time because he does have some talent in him.

That being said, I am just not looking forward to this movie. I might go see it but chances are I will just download it so that I am not losing anything.

Thor

I will admit that I hadn't really heard anything about this upcoming movie until a couple of days ago when I went to see The Next Three Days. The trailer popped up before the movie and I was suitable impressed by the thought of this movie but I am worried that it falls into the trap that it becomes the movie everyone is talking about because it has some awesome graphical effects involved. It happened during Clash Of The Titans and it could happen to Thor. I hope not because it really does have some promise. I don't recognise and of the cast, out with Anthony Hopkins, without having to look it up but maybe that is a good thing?

… Searching IMDB …

A quick search of IMDB tells me that Natalie Portman is also in the movie, so I guess that it might be a little more than the latest cinematic release that has nothing deeper than a great aesthetic appeal. Hopkins ought to bring his gusto to the role of Odin and perhaps the unknown quantity, Chris Hemsworth, will show us that he has the goods be a star afterwards...

-----------------------------

So, with all of that in mind, I think I am looking forward to Thor the most, simply because I know what I am getting from it. The Green Lantern just looks lousy and as if it is trying to capitalize on the recent outbreak of hero movie. I , for one, will not be going to see it in the cinema. Thor... I might.

as much as i was excited at first to hear they were doing a 'green lantern' flick, my interest slowly started to fade with the more i saw. it just seems they had a great idea but- the way it comes across as cartoonish dosent sit right. bottom line, its gonna be a rent\download for me. ryan reynolds cant save this one from the slaughterhouse.

thor, on the other hand, looks fantastic. marvel has a way about them that allows fantasy to become reality, without losing its luster. the cast & cgi all tie together to make this a definate ticket purchase. god of thunder with thx sound? im there.

I have as much interest in a Thor movie as i do an X-Men movie...... ZERO.

And as much as i LOVE Green Lantern the comic book series, i can already see that it's not going to live up to the comic standards, and that's based purely on 3 seconds of seeing Ryan Reynolds playing Hal Jordan.

That one shot where he changes into the suit in front of his friend and goes 'Cool, huh?' for example? HAL JORDAN WOULD NEVER SAY THAT! I immediately stopped seeing him as the character Hal Jordan and from that moment on, saw him as just Ryan Reynolds in a Green Lantern hallowe'en costume.

Green Lantern looks like it could be good, but I have a feeling the animated movie they released to DVD is going to be better than the this live action one that hits theaters this coming June

That animated film was a crock of shit as well. Sinestro gets his Yellow Lantern the minute he goes rogue? Yeah, fuck that.

If they'd basically just done Green Lantern Secret Origin as a movie it would have been perfect. You'd have all of Hal's backstory about his family issues and dealing with his dad's death, plus Carol Ferris being a part of his life since he was like 8 years old. You'd have had Hector Hammond, Sinestro, Atrocitus AND Black Hand to allow for follow up movies (especially as they intend to release a Red Lantern Corps animated series soon).

Plus you'd get to know the other Lanterns fairly well as well. From what i read, Kilowog doesn't even speak in the live action movie. EPIC FAIL, and it hasn't even been completed yet.

Plus they've got Amanda Waller in this movie as well? Is Task Force X or the Suicide Squad or Checkmate going to be in this movie? No, so why the fuck is Amanda Waller in it when we've already got Sinestro and Hector Hammond?

I'm more interested in Cap America than i am either of these two movies. Fuck Thor, i'll see Green Lantern just to see how much they shit all over the mythos, and i'll watch Cap America because it actually peaks my interest based on 2 things:

1.Hugo Weaving is the Red Skull (reason enough wouldn't you say?)
2.It's not going to be 75% special effects and the rest is just a hideous mess like i anticipate the other two movies being.

Definately Thor. Thor is a better character and the trailer actually looks like it could be a great movie. They have some good actors in it and the effects and everything look great.

I always thought Green Lantern was a lame character and the trailer pretty much proves it. It looks more like a SyFy Orginal movie than it does a summer blockbuster.

I can't wait to see both of them.

Thor will be cool, but I'm afraid it will be a little slower moving. As long as they build the story up well, though, I don't mind a slower pace.

I don't see why everybody is bashing GL already. If you don't recall, Hal Jordan before he became GL was the brash, cocky, "ladies man", typical pilot-type. He then had to adjust to the responsibility of his situation and mature. Come on, I know not everybody can ignore the beginnings.

And as far as saying "Cool, huh?" to his buddy. Are you for real? Of course somebody would say that when showing off his new powers. If you don't think so, you're really anal. You're thinking of the more recent Hal, the one that had matured into his position. An arrogant, young pilot given one of the highest and most important positions in the universe's defense? Hell, yeah, he's going to be stoked to the gills when he starts discovering what he can do! I know damn well I'd say something like that because the adrenaline would be bottled up inside of me. I'd probably say something more along the lines of "This is fucking awesome" or "Fucking cool as hell, huh?!" but you have to appeal to the family demographic so the F word is out. But you get what I mean.

All in all, I think both movies are going to kick major ass, and I can't wait until they've been out a number of months on DVD so I can find them at my local pawn shop (I don't buy brand new movies anymore. On an extremely rare occasion, but I'd much rather grab 4 for 10 at my nice little pawn stop).

It's not the character traits of the early Hal Jordan that people are complaining about (well, i was), people are complaining about how shit it actually looks.

Maybe if you're 14.

Dude, please don't presume to tell me what i am or am not thinking of. I know the difference between modern Hal Jordan and newly minted Jordan. I'll admit i didn't express myself properly in my previous post. It's not what he says, it's how Reynolds delivers the line. Like i said, watching him do that immediately conjured up images of all the crappy comedies he used to star in.

When i see Hugh Jackman as Wolverine i suspend belief and view it as Wolverine. When i watch Christian Bale playing Batman/Bruce Wayne, i view it as Bruce Wayne/Batman. I saw that clip of GL and saw Ryan Reynolds being Ryan Reynolds in a GL costume. Maybe i just don't like Ryan Reynolds or something, but anyway, that 2 second clip just furthered my lack of confidence in this movie.

An arrogant, young pilot given one of the highest and most important positions in the universe's defense?

You don't even know if he's at that point yet in that scene. For all you know, he hasn't even been to Oa yet when he's showing his powers off. Maybe he just got back from Abin Sur's ship and has only just put the ring on and is going to just fuck about with it.

None of them, really. All of the Marvel movies look too over-the-top for my taste, and Green Lantern will probably be laughed out of the theater..after a couple hundred million at the box office.

I hate Ryan Reynolds, and I hate Chris Evans, so Captain America and Green Lantern are out the window. Thor has the most potential, and X-Men might not be terrible (Matt Vaughn did Layer Cake, which I really enjoyed). In my opinion, 2011 is loaded with comic films, but that doesn't mean the line-up is strong.

2012 on the other hand brings us The Dark Knight Rises, The Man of Steel and the new Spider-Man. Not sure about Spidey or Superman, but Nolan will no doubt deliver on the third Batman film. I'm hoping the new Superman will finally be what Superman needs to be, but in my book, Zack Snyder is hit and miss (loved Watchmen, hated 300).

So far, 2012>2011, in my opinion. We'll see.

I am a pretty big Green Lantern fan but even with that I am probably looking forward more to Thor and Captain America. Like others have said, I am just not sure about the CG in Green Lantern. I am holding out hope that there is still some fine-tuning to be done before it is actually released and it will look better. Thor, directed by Kenneth Branagh of all people, just looks like a good movie. Interested in the way they shot Captain America as well.

Neither. Both look freaking terrible.

Pretty much. The Thor trailer is straight up awful - generic, ridiculous ("Father!"), Hemsworth looks to have the emotional range of a brick, and you can only utilize the dramatic close up so many times before it loses its effect. Marvel really needs to step its game up. They've been churning out some real stinkers. I guess this is the kind of stuff its target audience loves...

I also love the attempt to give it some cred by employing Kenneth Branagh to direct (LOL) and reeling in Hopkins and Portman.
