The Sports Bar

I am still pumped from the Jags game last night. I haven't been that happy over a win in a long time. The Jags should have won that game 20-7, but they shot themselves in the foot several times on the goal line. Oh well, a win is a win. Bring on the Texans.

SHOCKINGLY, the Yankees have exercised their option on both Nick Swisher ($10.25M) and Robinson Cano ($14M).

Of course SHOCKINGLY is meant 100% sarcastically, as Cano for $14 Million is a steal, and Swisher at $10.25 for 1 year is a good price for a very solid Right Fielder.

HEEEEEEEEEE'S BAAAAAAAAACK!!!!!!

CC Sabathia officially agreed to a Contract Extension with the New York Yankees, thus never opting out of his prior contract, and never becoming a Free Agent.

I'm secretly in love with the Indians acquisition of Derek Lowe, but most people tell me not to be so excited about it.

Also, as much as I love him, I think it's absurd that Asdrubal Cabrera got nominated for a Golden Glove. He's a pretty substandard defensive shortstop.

Didn't Asdrubal have his fair share of flashy plays this season? I recall seeing him on the top 10 on Sportscenter a good amount. My bet is that is the reason behind the nomination.

This is exactly it. He had several really spectacular plays this year, but break down his numbers with legitimate analysis and you find out he's really not very good at all. To be entirely honest I'd rather the Indians play him at third base and acquire a defense oriented shortstop, especially with all the ground balls they'll be fielding this year.

Fantasy Help:

One Flex spot, 5 terrible choices.

Chris Johnson
Chris Ogbonnaya
Marshawn Lynch
Knowshon Moreno
Brent Celek

I'd go with Chris Johnson. He has been shit this year but he's the one guy out of the 5 who could potentially explode and have a big game.

Don't go with Moreno. McGahee is gonna get the bulk of the carries.
I like Ogbonnaya, because he'll be starting, but BS is right. I'd rather go with CJ>1K (CJ less then 1000) because he could go off any week.

I need fantasy advise too. Don't laugh at me with this one, because it's 100% serious. Phil Rivers (who has played like shit) at GB or Mark Sanchez (who has had a better fantasy season and is playing better) at Buffalo?

And 49er D (@Washington) or Jets D (Buffalo)?

I have the Packers D... they've been secretly mediocre this season, so I'd go with Rivers.

And I'd start the 49ers D.

Thanks for the help guys.

This wasn't about the opposing D's. Rivers has been terrible this year, and Sanchez has been flat out better. The Packer D has been surprisingly mediocre, but Rivers will still throw picks, throws nowhere near receivers, doesn't throw TDs, and fumbles potential game winning kneel-down snaps.

The Chiefs D is mediocre too, and they gave rivers a bad day.

Sanchez has 5 less picks and 6 more TDs (5 more passing 1 more rushing), while only throwing 500 less yards. Couple that with a porous Buffalo D (they get turnovers but give up lots of yards and points), and Sanchez may be the better play.

And I'd start the 49ers D.
That's what I was thinking already. I don't know how the 49er D was still available last week when I picked them up as a Bye Week D.

Looks like you didn't need the advice then.

Joe Paterno should get his ass fired along with the AD and administrators. Basically covering up the rape of children in your locker room by prominent former assistant coaches is fucking deplorable, and they should all be fired, and the NCAA should sanction Penn State. What they did is TEN THOUSAND times worse then what USC and all the other schools get sanctioned for.

That is all.

Indeed.
