Plenty of other people get infracted/warned for spam posting, and they manage to "fluff" it up without having to explain why. You may not think so, but it totally comes off that you were bothered enough by the infraction that you had to mention it and how long it had been since you last had one.

I've seen the fights in the sports section. I've seen the way people ostracize others for daring to have opinions rather than sticking to facts and the interpretation statistics. There is room for debates on who's the best, but most people stray away from there because they don't want the red rep and the flaming that comes from saying their mediocre local team is the best. I'm not saying the sports section sucks; I'm saying that it's more or less the same as any other subsection.

You could disagree with the infraction without going the distance to make a note about it in the offending post. There's a big difference between thinking an infraction is weak sauce and complaining about it in a post.
