Reading the Mordecai thread and how The Undertaker wasn't in favour of a feud got me to thinking about an old idea that's been mentioned many times.
Over the last 19 years we've seen the Deadman in 4 or 5 guises.
Traditional : 90-96
Phantom (seguing into satanic) 96-99
Biker 2000-2004
Contemporary 2004-Present
Generally a change every 5 years. What I'm wondering is if, with his career winding down, we'll see another evolution in his character and what that would be. I don't personally see the WWE being able to go any darker than the Attitude era (not only has it been done but I don't think the parents are up for sacrifices and burning crosses) so what's left? That brings me back to Mordecai. I find it unusual that The Undertaker of all people, would bury something that had a lot of potential. The only reason I can think of is that maybe he wanted the gimmick for himself, as the last stage of career.
Something about Holy Undertaker just seems awesome to me and I know I'm not the only one who thinks so. Character wise it also seems like a logical way to end, seeing as I can't see Dark Undertaker going out on his back having been beaten.
Thoughts?
