The Dazzler

Daniel Bryan said on Saturday Morning Slam he wants to be called "The Dazzler". He says he's "Dazzling".

Just thought everyone should know this if u don't watch SmS.

I love the nickname. I think he has what it takes to pull it off very well too. What are your guys' opinions?

I do think that it was just something he did to get some laughs. I hardly doubt that he would get the actual nickname. I mean, it wasn't that long ago when they had Dashing Cody Rhodes. And if you heard the commentary where he said "They need grooming tips" you'd see that it could've been used as a way to build up their match at the Rumble as well.

This isnt new. It was reported on this site weeks ago. Also there was a short backstage interview with Striker on WWE.com. He said this before the new year, that in 2013 he wants to be known as the Dazzler.
Anyway, I feel like DBry can pull off anything, and make it damn entertaining in the process. Hes came so far. He has always been an amazing technical wrestler. But his promo skills, and his character in general have went from sub-par, to top 5 in the company. He could recreate the Repo Man gimmick and make it entertaining. Hes that damn good.

He actually made mention of this on Twitter a while back, whether it was in jest or not I'm unsure. But Michael Cole mentioned it a few different times on RAW, and so far as I know it's never really picked up steam.

For my money I don't really care what he wants to call himself so long as they continue to let him A) look credible and B) be entertaining.

Personally I think they should call him Midas, because every damn thing he touches lately turns to gold.

Check out the latest episode of "The JBL and Cole Show." D-Bryan makes an appearance as "The Dazzler" and tries to perform a magic trick with some assistance from William Regal. "The JBL and Cole Show" consistently blows, but this was actually kind of funny.

All in all, I don't think he's serious about going by this nickname though.

I don't think there'll be much of anything to come from this. Bryan has been referring to himself as "The Dazzler" for months on Twitter. They've even mentioned it on Raw & SD! a handful of times. I think it's just something that's designed to get some laughs, something that's currently in line with his current character.

If it is something that WWE tries to somehow turn into some sort of character, I think Bryan has the ability to pull it off. Bryan is someone that's proven a ton of doubters wrong in the past year.

I personally believe "The Dazzler" could absolutely work for Bryan. If someone told me 2 years ago that Bryan Danielson will have the character he has now (I can't even think of a description for it) and ACTUALLY pull it off, I would not believe it.

I think he can make anything work.

It's clearly the natural evolution of the Daniel Bryan character. It's reminiscent of Kurt Angle at one point; being way over the top but still a legitimate contender. Eventually Daniel Bryan will get into a feud that will bring him full circle, as a serious tap-out artist character.

I think "The Dazzler" could be something relevant for Bryan after Team Hell No splits up. I'm sure, regardless of the outcome of the split, that Bryan will be over with the crowd. I don't see that going away unless he's just completely buried like Zack Ryder was. I think it will be something that will be entertaining, as almost everything Bryan does is. I think if it's incorporated into his gimmick that he'll get over even more with the fans, and possibly become a relevant challenger for the World Title. Bryan has the gift of turning almost everything WWE gives him into gold, and I don't see it being any different here.

I can't get into Daniel Bryan at all. Everyone seems to like him but he appears a little slow and sloppy in the ring to me. I'll give him some more chances. I also really don't like team Hell No. The only good way to use Kane is to use him in a Dark way. This corny stuff does not work for Kane and it doesn't work for Bryan either. I'm cool with "the Dazzler." He just doesn't impress me in the ring.

I think it would be hilarious if they worked it into the Kane and Daniel Bryan 'Team Hell No' storyline. Daniel can be the "Dazzler" and Kane can be the "Sizzler"

It's a funny nickname, but remember Daniel Bryan has an arsenal of flashy moves that he could use to make the nickname more than a joke. I'd love to see him feud with some high flyers just for the great matches. I think Daniel Bryan has earned a lot of respect backstage. He will be a big feature of WWE programming for years to come.

Are you a trained pro wrestler? If not, you really can't say it's sloppy. Daniel Bryan does things slower because if you go all Alex Shelley and do 60 moves incredibly fast, fluid, and without resistance, it looks fake as shit. Daniel Bryan is smart enough to make everything look plausible and like a struggle.

This is spot on. Daniel Bryan makes everything look realistic, that is what he is all about. He is a serious wrestler who is world class at making his work look believable.

There is no way in hell he is in any way sloppy. He isn't flashy, he is just damm good at what he does.

Figured I'd just bump this thread rather than make a new one, but the rumor mill just churned out a piece that caught my eye as our friends at F4WOnline.com are suggesting that Daniel Bryan could turn heel soon in order for him to enter a program with John Cena. The Cena/Bryan feud was rumored to be a face vs. face affair with a title match taking place at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view. While I'm taking this news with the appropriate amount of sodium, I can believe it-- just look at Ryback right now. He was getting over, they put him into a program with Cena, and now he's just a bigger, angrier chickenshit heel. CM Punk, perhaps at the height of his popularity, made a heel turn as well, acquiescing to Cena and The Rock.

I wouldn't necessarily mind Bryan turning heel, and the way he's been acting of late it's even justifiable. He's talented enough to pull it off with gusto. My thing is that I want to cheer him. It seems that audiences of late want to cheer him too. He's an undersized guy who is scrappy, he wrestles at a high pace with moves and sequences that beg to be applauded, and he's entertaining as hell in the ring and on the mic. So, while I can certainly see a heel turn happening, I just can't endorse it. Not right now, and certainly not simply so he can be fed to Cena. No offense to Cena, I'm not here to bash him; I'd simply rather see Bryan stay face and go after Ziggler and the World Heavyweight Title if the other option is for him to turn heel and face Cena for the WWE Championship. The Ziggler feud makes sense, the matches will be good, and Bryan and AJ can have their Randy and Liz at WrestleMania VII moment at some point during the feud.

I am guessing it was something he said to get some laughs, but if anyone can pull it off it would be Daniel Bryan. I like the comparison another poster made to Kurt Angle. Daniel Bryan could play that over the top character for a while before turning into a tap out machine. He will have to go somewhere after the final split with Kane, and I could see him being "The Dazzler" for a bit. It just seems like something that would fit him. I have a feeling though nothing much will come out of it and it was something said for some laughs on the Saturday morning show.
