Figured I'd just bump this thread rather than make a new one, but the rumor mill just churned out a piece that caught my eye as our friends at F4WOnline.com are suggesting that Daniel Bryan could turn heel soon in order for him to enter a program with John Cena. The Cena/Bryan feud was rumored to be a face vs. face affair with a title match taking place at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view. While I'm taking this news with the appropriate amount of sodium, I can believe it-- just look at Ryback right now. He was getting over, they put him into a program with Cena, and now he's just a bigger, angrier chickenshit heel. CM Punk, perhaps at the height of his popularity, made a heel turn as well, acquiescing to Cena and The Rock.
I wouldn't necessarily mind Bryan turning heel, and the way he's been acting of late it's even justifiable. He's talented enough to pull it off with gusto. My thing is that I want to cheer him. It seems that audiences of late want to cheer him too. He's an undersized guy who is scrappy, he wrestles at a high pace with moves and sequences that beg to be applauded, and he's entertaining as hell in the ring and on the mic. So, while I can certainly see a heel turn happening, I just can't endorse it. Not right now, and certainly not simply so he can be fed to Cena. No offense to Cena, I'm not here to bash him; I'd simply rather see Bryan stay face and go after Ziggler and the World Heavyweight Title if the other option is for him to turn heel and face Cena for the WWE Championship. The Ziggler feud makes sense, the matches will be good, and Bryan and AJ can have their Randy and Liz at WrestleMania VII moment at some point during the feud.
