Testament To "The Mist"

NYSandman

Testicles. That is all.
Just finished The Mist, and was so blown away I had to write about it.

I know this movie has been discussed before on these boards, but I was simply blown away.

The ending was great, yet truly terrible. By great, I mean well written, emotional, and surprising. By terrible, I mean tragic, sad and heartbreaking.

Nice to see a movie that can mix horror with intense emotion, and loveable and hate able characters.

Anyone who has seen this film knows what I mean by hate. The religious bitch got me to the point where I nearly damaged my TV.

Hope I'm not being annoying by starting a thread that is basically just an opinion, but I heard people giving the Mist great reviews on this site.

Glad I watched it. Stephen King and the Director did a great job.

Acting was top notch, too. Amazing how a movie that basically takes place mostly in one location could be so riveting.

Thanks to the people on this board who basically, through their positive feedback towards the movie, made me rent it.

3 thumbs us, for us mutants. :D

NYSandman is the fucking man, and everyone should give him green rep. I'm sure Norcal will be in here following me to praise the hell out of this awesome movie.

For me, it was easily the best movie that came out last year, and a damn shame that it didn't do killer at the box office. The ending of this movie was great, not great as in wow that was great, but great in the fact that the director fought and fought with the movie studio and saw his vision of the movie come through.

The movie is so damn eerie and hits on a ton of my own personal views about what would happen if you took civilization and laws away from so called civilized people for a very short time. The feel of the movie was great as well. This movie reminded me so much of playing the original Silent Hill game, and if you've been around here long enough, I've admitted that Silent Hill maybe the most terrorizing thing i have ever experienced.

It's a damn shame that this movie won't get the recognition it deserves, but I'll try and spread my love for it when I can.

Ok, now I've heard everybody praise the shit out of this movie, almost to the point to where I'm hesitant to rent it now due to how much people are hyping it, I'm fear that my expectations for this movie are so high that there is very little chance it'll live up to the hype, and will just let me down, I'll probably go out and get it next time I rent shit, but I swear if it doesn't live up to the hype that all of you have given it, red rep for you all, LOL

I'm not worried. I'm telling you, that shit was awesome. I'm trying to find the short story by King it was based on, but not having much luck. :(

The ending really blew me away. What a man is forced to do for love, and then the horror of realizing...well, don't want this to turn into a spoiler for anyone who hasn't seen it.

I also like movies where not-too-well-know actors get to shine and are given a chance. It amazes me how some of these less known actors are just as good or better than the big names.

Hugh Laurie is hugely underrated. He could be a giant star on the silver screen, but I've only seen him in one movie.

Don't go into it thinking it might be in contention for Best Picture, cause it isn't. However, its an enjoyable film that doesn't just follow the standards. The Mist is the first horror film I've seen since the first Saw that I actually liked, since damn near every single horror film is the exact same thing. Now, I've never been SCARED at any horror films, including The Mist, but maybe that's just me. However, make sure you stay away from spoilers and everything as this movie revolves around keeping the audience in mystery.

Nice performances...nothing worthy of an Oscar, but adequately done...nice effects overall...more importantly, the film is a good watch because it sucks you in, so don't watch it if you're planning on taking frequent bathroom breaks, talking on the phone, etc.

Not the best movie I've ever seen, and I probably won't even end up owning it, but it was more than 100% worth the 8 bucks to go see it and definitely deserves a recommendation.

Agreed. The Mist is a fantastic movie. My buddies told me how awesome this movie was. They usually have shitty taste in movies but I was bored one night so I watched it. I was blown away. It was easily one of the best movies of 2007. I dont want to go into too much detail because Justin has not seen it yet but I will say that because of this movie it has solidified my hatred for bugs. Also the music that they did choose (not much of it at all in this movie) totally rocked. especially at the end. Truly creepy.

Justin definitly go see this movie. You will not be dissapointed. Every single one of my griends hyped the shit out of this movie and I went into it expecting it would suck. I was wrong.

One of the few times a King novel works well on screen. The different ending is much better on film than in the movie, and to me it was Twilight Zonish with it's irony. The whole time there's just a feel of eeriness in the air where you jsut don't know what's going to walk through the clouds, which to me can be terrifying. The monsters are well done, and there's this feeling of being on edge the whole time. It's great, better in theaters but on dvd is fine also. Go and see it, definitely.

It was a pretty good movie until the end. Good God, what an ending! It blew me away. The religious woman really got on my nerves. All the characters were great. One of the best horror/thriller movies I've seen in while. The only thing that held this movie back at all was the lead actor. He couldn't act at all IMO. His voice was the same the entire movie. But that is just nitpicking. I was really impressed by how good this movie was.

Just finished it, and you were all right great fucking movie, loved the ending, and loved the old lady, she was great, why the fuck didn't anyone tell me the Punisher Thomas Jane played the main character?!?, that guy is a fucking great actor, despite what the guy above me thinks:glare:
