Team 3D Officially Retire; Request One Last Match

It's Damn Real!

The undisputed, undefeated TNA &
As announced at Bound For Glory tonight, and the team they've requested to face for one last match? The TNA World Tag Team Champions The Motor City Machineguns, of course!

If 3D lose, MMG are officially the last team to have officially retired them.

If 3D win, they retire the 24-time World Tag Team Champions and turn the titles over to TNA as vacant.

Thoughts on 3D's retirement? Concerns? Non sequitur insults?

I think this perfect for Team 3d to go out and retire. I am going miss them as they are one of my favorite Tag Teams of All Time and It will be a little sad, but this is going to Put OVER the Guns Huge by being able to say that they retired one of the greatest Tag Teams of All Time and this is a perfect way for them to Go out.

Sad to see them go but Im a little disappointed. Being from a suburb of Detroit, I would've like TNA to back back here and let MCMG retire them in their home state. I love the Guns and was excited to see that 2 guys from Michigan go so far.

How about they just go away? Team 3D vs. MCMG at No Surrender. Way to no sell that ppv

Glad they didn't challenge Haas & Benjamin. WGTT are smart enough to stay in ROH. Dudley's = waste of air time now. Bubba the Kings of Wrestling aren't in TNA. Sorry.Devon is wearing a shirt I own..... I might have to burn that shirt. So let me get this straight TNA. You've resigned Team 3-D so they can break up and become singles wrestlers? well what can go wrong with that?Yea ummm their "retiring" all that means is one more match in TNA and then about Royal Rumble time Hello Dudley Boyz or Vince just called them to the HOF. I respect 3D and everything that have given us, but they need to put the attire up. They have been burying talent it seems for some time. They just claimed TNA to be a glorious place with the best divisions in tag wrestling. Not exactly a good way to get on Vince's good side. If MCMG loses that is just TNA telling Vince that he will purchasing another wrestling company soon enough

Really I'm not surprised as for Bubba Ray and D-Von, there's nothing left to prove. I respect them for all they've given to the business and are gonna go down as one of the greats, but they've done it all. This is one way to go out with a bang and I commend them for it. As for the possibility of Vince taking them back, What for? So he can butcher tag team wrestling some more by ruining one of the greats in the Dudley Boyz? pass

I think they're going to do TNA a favor and put over the machine guns and then turn around and have one last run in the WWE and help out that tag division. If not they'll be inducted into the WWE HOF next year.

I have always liked hw they retire people with the one last shot of the title. I think this is the best way the dudley boyz can go out with a bang. they do need to retire though, Retire now before they end up being remembered for the half assed job they would do in five or so years from now. I think they legitly will retire and I don't think they will end up going to the WWE. they wouldn't get used well enough.

It makes a lot of sense, and I for one am looking forward to the match if it goes the way I believe it should go.

MCMG as tag team champions really need to solidify themselves and prove they are the team to push the division forward. As interesting and fast-paced as they MCMG/Gen Me matches have been, MCMG need to go over a top tag team. Beer Money are currently involved in the Fortune/EV 2.0 feud, retiring Team 3D/The Dudleyz can give MCMG a huge platform to build on.*

For MCMG to retire Team 3D, they instantly regain recognition as being the top tag team in TNA. If Team 3D somehow go over, they manage the rare feat of crippling the division on their way out.

I seem to remember reading a report shortly after the recent TNA house show in Philadelphia in which Team 3D, during a promo, referred to themselves as "The Dudleys." So how about this possibility: Bubba, during tonight's promo, said they've done all they can as Team 3D...so perhaps they're simply going to "retire" the name Team 3D and go back to being the Dudleys. I don't know if the WWE copyright on the name ever expires, but if it does, this could be a possibility. Just a thought...

to be totally honest i was expecting The World's Greatest Tag Team to come down and tell Fat an Fatter that they'll be glad to retire their punk asses..........sad.........TWGTT could have been "THEY" siding with Kurt instead of the bullshit we got.........sad

This is the best way for them to go out. If they lose of course. But we know 3D has a big soft spot for Tag Teams and building stars. It is completely unlikely they will win. Hell, they put The Guns in the map in the first place back in 2007 with their 3D vs X Division feud. I'm glad they are doing the right thing and giving the rub to The Machine Guns. To drive the point home, it should be a Table's Match. just gotta wonder what's next for them? Expanding the school and possibly becoming TNA's development field? I hope so.

Here's what I think about Team 3Ds impending retirement......Thank God. Now, don't get me wrong, they have a list of accomplishments that are as long as just about anyone, but they are also very highly overrated. I get that people want the old days of tag team wrestling, where Tag Teams are a focal point. But the reason for a tag team is to get the two members over enough so that they can have singles careers. Team 3D/Dudley Boyz never got there.

Unfortunately, like just about every other retirement that's happened in professional wrestling, this will probably only last a few weeks, as the writers decide to forget about the whole retirement thing.

Now, if they do retire to only run the Team 3D Wrestling Academy and Smoothie Bar, I do wish them the best of luck.

If they have signed new contracts then they may go the singles route after their match with the guns. It would be nice to see Team 3D put the Guns over. If they are going to retire then why would they need to win the match? They would have to forfeit the titles anyway and set up a long tag team tournament. I don't want to see Team 3D split because they are better as a team. I won't be sad to see them go if its true.

Well it will give major cred to the current greatest tag team in the world, Motor City Machine Guns. It is a nice way for 3D to retire as well as give a major boost to the MCMG. Win or Lose it is a positive situation for all involved. As for 3D and reports of breaking and becoming singles wrestlers, i do not think that should happen at all, they should become mentors or bookers or something, just please don't wrestle anymore.

I think this is the perfect way for them to leave, win or lose. If they win great, they have 24 Tag Titles and if they lose great they're putting over a great tag team. It's sad that they're leaving but nothing good lasts forever.

Team 3D should lose the match to the MCMG. The Guns have been on fire for the past couple of months, and losing to Team 3D in such a big match would really kill their momentum. Bubba and Devon have had a good run in the world of pro wrestling, but I think it's time for them to go as a team. What more can they possibly accomplish? I don't think too many people would care about a singles run with these two in TNA, because the roster is pretty stacked, and I don' think they would get too much time to do anything worth while.

Well call me mean but I am glad they are going out as for one they are not really good any more and two they can help build talent behind the scenes (which I heard Bubba is already doing)

But it is obvious that the Motor city machine guns will win this match to gain lots of momentum in TNA as they could say we retired 3D but it could even be better if 3D lost because as then it gives them a great way to get out and put over a younger team in the progress.

My original knee jerk reaction to this announcement (after I originally thought, who really cares) was that it's actually a pretty good idea. A win win scenario. If MCMG wins, they could be getting put even further over by (arguably) one of the best tag teams of all time. MCMG beats them cleanly, and further establish themselves as one of the top tag teams in professional wrestling today. If Team 3D wins, they go out on top as tag team champions again, a fitting end to a long and illustrious career.

Then I read something on the main page earlier today which suggested that after the Team 3D/MCMG match, both of the "brothers" would continue their careers as singles competitors and I thought, now that's just stupid. Because I don't think anyone will take them seriously as singles wrestlers, having competed as a team for pretty much their entire time in the business. Meaning either they will finish up their careers as singles guys, and a shadow of their former selves, which would be unfortunate. Or, after failing as singles competitors, they will get together for yet another "one last time," making this feud meaningless.

For this announcement to have any meaning, this has to be their finale altogether. Either they lose as a team, and put the Guns over, or win as a team, and go out on top. And then its over. But this doesn't appear to be the case.

Granted, I'm sure TNA will change their mind on the fly and do whatever the hell they want to do anyway. No need to be logical, no need to worry about broken promises or disappointments. After last night, that doesn't seem to be much of a concern on their parts anyway.

I agree with everyone here. Like them or hate them, the Dudley's had more than a great run as a tag team. Won a bunch of belts many times and accomplished many things in the industry, they did. And this is not just your typical tag team as they have their own specialty, which are the use of tables. Not only that, they helped put over a bunch of people… The Hardy Boyz, Edge and Christian, MCMG, Beer Money, Trish Stratus, Lita, Tommy Dreamer, The Sandman, and many others. It’s a shame that these two are going to retire soon but we all saw this coming. Whether they win or lose against MCMG, I couldn't think of any other team to be their final opponents (besides Beer Money). It'll be something special, like passing the torch to the younger guys. I love those two and I’ll miss them.

Team 3D is the most overrated tag team in history (and perhaps the most arrogant as well, at least on that piece of shit Bubba Ray's side). And I'm a die-hard original ECW fan saying this. The Dudleys can go fuck themselves. If TNA actually lets this team retire defeating MCMG, the best tag team in their company, then they truly are ran by a bunch of ******ed buffoons.

Listen, you want to hype up the Dudleys retirement (if they're truly retiring), then that's fine. But please, for the love of God, make them retire in the appropriate manner, by putting over the best team not only in TNA, but in pro wrestling period. If they don't... then TNA, seriously, fuck them.

I think the perfect way to do it would be to have Team 3D vs. MCMG at the next pay per view which I believe is Turning Point in a tables match and have MCMG beat 3D at their own game to retire them.

I kind of hope that one of the members of 3D or the both of them consider developing a singles career for awhile after retiring. Keep in mind they only said "Team 3D" was retiring. They didn't say anything about themselves as wrestlers retiring, at least from what I recall.

Team 3D better not go over here, because it would make the Guns and the rest of the Tag Division look weaker.

I also agree that Team 3D is overrated. They were solid in ECW and WWE, but by the time they got into TNA they were past their prime.

If the Guns are accepting the challenge, which they most likely will, they need to go over here to really solidify themselves as the best Tag Team in the world.
