My original knee jerk reaction to this announcement (after I originally thought, who really cares) was that it's actually a pretty good idea. A win win scenario. If MCMG wins, they could be getting put even further over by (arguably) one of the best tag teams of all time. MCMG beats them cleanly, and further establish themselves as one of the top tag teams in professional wrestling today. If Team 3D wins, they go out on top as tag team champions again, a fitting end to a long and illustrious career.
Then I read something on the main page earlier today which suggested that after the Team 3D/MCMG match, both of the "brothers" would continue their careers as singles competitors and I thought, now that's just stupid. Because I don't think anyone will take them seriously as singles wrestlers, having competed as a team for pretty much their entire time in the business. Meaning either they will finish up their careers as singles guys, and a shadow of their former selves, which would be unfortunate. Or, after failing as singles competitors, they will get together for yet another "one last time," making this feud meaningless.
For this announcement to have any meaning, this has to be their finale altogether. Either they lose as a team, and put the Guns over, or win as a team, and go out on top. And then its over. But this doesn't appear to be the case.
Granted, I'm sure TNA will change their mind on the fly and do whatever the hell they want to do anyway. No need to be logical, no need to worry about broken promises or disappointments. After last night, that doesn't seem to be much of a concern on their parts anyway.
