Taker's New Role In WWE?

YOU WILL RESPECT MY AUTHORITAH!!!!
According to a report from PWInsider.com, it seems The Undertaker is soon to take on a new role in WWE. The report states that Taker was in attendance at last night's NXT tapings and remarked to people that he'll be assisting in the developmental program as something of an "advisor." The report further alleges that Taker will be going to the WWE Performance Center on a limited basis to "help out and offer advice."

Taker's visited the WWE Performance Center several times over the course of this year, sometimes with Michelle McCool accompanying him. If this report's accurate, then it's a great use of Taker's knowledge. Triple H is a wrestling guy that's surrounded himself in NXT with a lot of well known wrestling minds and/or trainers like William Regal, Dusty Rhodes, Steve Keirn, Terry Taylor, Sara Del Rey, Gerald Brisco, etc. It'd keep him involved with the company while ultimately keeping him out of the spotlight. In my opinion, and that's all it is, Taker's in-ring career is either over or very, very close to being over and this is a role that keeps him out of the spotlight. We MIGHT see him pop up on very rare occasions to Raw, like for an "Old School" episode or something along those lines.

I think this is a great idea, as there is noone more experienced and respected in the locker room than 'Taker, and the next generation of WWE superstars will be able to learn from the best and pick his brains. I think it's pretty fair to say that 'Taker is pretty much done as an active wrestler now. We may see him have 1 final match, but that's probably all, and it's a good move from the company to give him a new role where he can help the stars of tomorrow.

Excellent, hopefully this means Undertaker is being groomed for a role in the Authority. I'd laugh, that would be amazing.

It would be a really good thing if that's what ends up happening.
Undertaker has obviously been around a long time and has been able to maintain a good following and hasn't turned into one of those guys that used to be a someone but now has to wrestle in high school gyms in front of 30 people because they're broken down and weren't good with their money and feel like they have no alternative.

I have no way of knowing at this point what kind of eye for talent he has but I'd go out on a limb and say he would probably have a decent one at least.

Plus if he can teach these guys and girls along the way?

It's a win-win. It allows the WWE to have someone they know is reliable and it allows Taker to stay in the business without becoming a joke.

If Brock Lesnar is leaving after WM and the Undertaker is not booked for WM they should have Brock out for the next night on Raw and have Taker come in to brawl with him in something like a 5 minute segment, having Taker come out on top, this enpowers him to come back for the odd appearance whilst being reinpowered after the Brock loss, also a way to write Brock off, this needs to happen, down the line it would be wrong for Taker to return even for the odd apperance if he hasn't addressed Lesnar.

It should happen but not to right Brock off just for revenge. And it should be in December at the Slammy Awards when Brock wins shocker of the year him and Heyman come down and talk in the ring. Taker returns beats up Lesnar and tombstones Heyman to end Raw. The next week Taker comes out and calls out Brock but he doesn't show and as Taker goes to leave Sting debuts and points a bat at the WrestleMania 31 logo.

As for the topic at hand this is great news. But from a character perspective after WrestleMania he needs to stay away

I like it, I don't think Sting should show himself too early though as there is only so long that people will deal with smoke and mirrors and between Take and Sting you have plenty, way to protect sting with his age even though he looks great for his age could be instead of him turning up and pointing the bat so soon in the ring instead have a crow sitting on the giant Wrestlemania logo for now.

Very true and I agree 100 percent with you.
I think the Undertaker is the greatest WWE wrestler in history or one of the greatest. This will be an awesome way for Undertaker to enjoy his job with out having to step foot in the ring and risk injury. This also gives Undertaker something to do and he can have fun with it.
I do agree that this means the end of Taker's in ring action. I think we will get the 1 Sting Match and I think the stipulation will be both men retire, but that's just my thoughts. I have tons of respect for the Undertaker.

I am both happy and sad. I'm happy because The Undertaker wants to selflessly pass on his knowledge to the younger generation, even though he could just sit and home and relax for the rest of his life. He didn't have to end the streak either, but he did it so that someone's career would reach new heights. On the other hand, I'm sad because this could mean that The Undertaker is indeed done with in-ring action. Based on what I've read, he was very protective of his dead man gimmick and would rarely be seen out of character in the WWE. I don't think he would take this job if he had plans of having any more matches.

I guess to go along with everyone else, I think this is a great idea. These new guys coming up need all the help they can get, and who better than someone who's seen it all and done it all.

Just having him there to help them along, will be a huge boost and if shows what a dedicated person Taker is. He could easily have said, no going to sit home and live my life now, but he didn't, and good on him.

Shows just how much class he has. A lot more than another swine who even if he had stayed around to fulfill his contracts, wouldn't have given a shit to help anyone out. Not mentioning any names there, but I think you know who I mean.

It would be great to have him continue his association with WWE; I always figured that once he hangs up the boots, we might never see him again. This consulting position would keep him around.....and yes, the knowledge and wisdom he could impart to the new generation of wrestlers would be invaluable.

Plus, an occasional on-screen appearance in which he belts some bad guy would always be a treat.

But, you know what? I also want him to tell us about his last in-ring appearance at WM30. Yes, the result was scripted, although I've wondered more than once if he didn't get hurt by Brock and instruct him to alter the finish and end the match. Probably not, but it did occur to me.

No, I don't expect 'Taker's farewell speech to directly address that, but while he'll give us the usual: "Brock was the better man that night" bullshit, it occurs to me that while he was happy to talk to us all those years after winning his WM match, it seems fair he should also talk to us after turning up a loser. It's one of the great things about sports; for every winner, there's a loser.....and if you speak as one all the years you were victorious, you should speak as the other when the day finally comes. We've heard nothing from the man since that night in April.

If it's a new role for Undertaker that brings this, I'm all for it.

I was under the assumption that Taker has had this role with WWE for many years now. Maybe he was never given an official title at the time but I think he's been helping out with the rookies since before the Tough Enough days. I believe I read somewhere, that he would go down to FCW whenever he had free time and actually get into the ring with the guys. WWE may have actually legitimized Takers position now because his wrestling contract could be up soon and they want to "take care" of a man who has been loyal to them for well over 20 years.

This is a great thing! Undertaker has always been my favorite wrestler and this is perfect. Could you imagine him in character giving words of wisdom to wrestlers approaching Wrestlemania? I can picture it now. Say they go with Reigns to beat Lesnar. Undertaker comes out and says Reigns, if you fight Lesnar at Wrestlemania, you'll have no choice but to rest in peace!

Plus lets be realistic, didn't Taker wanna give his streak up to Orton? Obviously he can pick a good talent out. Plus after 20+ years experience he can help the new guys. Add to that, he's the locker room leader..whatever that means he can keep doing it. This would be very Taker to not have any huge fanfare for his retirement :)

Thank You Undertaker, you've made the WWE a better place for 20 years now! And you will continue to do so :D
