Sympathy for the Devil's Favorite Demon

Yaz ain't enough, I need Fluttershy
Look, I know the in thing is to bash Kane and Big Show, and wish they would retire. But this all seems kind of unfair, at least for Kane. Keep in mind, this comes from the guy that wrote this post.

Kane is the only guy from the Attitude Era that still regularly is part of the company. No overhype when he makes returns (looking at you Jericho).
No missing house shows... Or, you know, the whole year. No guaranteed spot at Mania, just because of his popularity.

And yet, in spite of his loyalty, he gets shit booking. I once described his booking as whatever Taker says no to, they give to Kane. Even Korporate Kane is fine, just being Glen Jacobs is ok, but man, does he pretty much get nothing to work with.

I guess my point is, when Kane retires, it will be to be a percentage of the fanfare of Taker, for arguably just as much work. And that's kind of a shame.

Most monster heels last a couple of years at best. Most then have a comedy face run before moving on. Kane was headed that way, but actually reinvented himself largely through his involvement in the greatest tag team in history with X-Pac. By doing that Kane made himself fluid between face and heel as and when required and made sure he was a realistic threat. When was the last time he won a feud? 1999? But yet he still seems a credible opponent.

I would take him just wrestling and going through the motions like he used to for the last decade. But at this point we have to put up with his monotone voice to set up matches on Smackdown and him feuding with guys he has no business beating given how he's portrayed. Not to mention how he and Big Show somehow seem to be portrayed as these hot commodities that need to be protected by booking.

I'm fine with them in the midcard putting people over. They've been around long enough and have won enough matches and titles that they're set for life. It's having them going over the up and coming names to set them up for a win later on that hurts, as most fans don't buy them as a threat no matter who they defeat because they're never getting past the stage of jobbing to the top level stars.

Them surrounding themselves as the champ's heavies is actually very goog and makes a ton of sense. Makes Seth seem like that much of a slimeball. If you use a game analogy, SR is the final boss and you have to beat J&J then Kane then Show to get to him. Thats alright in my book.

Speaking of Kane, well he has been saddled with a lot of shit over the years and still done well with it. He still works a good match and does whatever he is given to the best. Great hand
