Summer of Punk 2014?

I know the whole CM Punk situation is most likely legit but here's the famous " what if" it was a work?

I just remember reading an article on wrestlezone back in January that his current storyline with the authority could lead to another summer of punk type storyline. It also says it's know he doesn't wanna be a lifer and walk away on his own terms....hmmm that sounds familiar.

So what if this was the plan after all? In '11 they had him "walk out" and return with the summer of punk angle. The WWE loves to make headlines and with the network just coming out and all the publicity they got from that and the punk walkout deal maybe this was their plan after all to get more outside eyes to watch the program and for Punk to make his return at wrestlemania that they heavily advertise for the network and starting up his feud again with the authority. They might've came to him and said hey we got an idea were gonna run by you similar to 2011 with you walking out getting some well deserved rest and return at mania and being out back in the main event area with this angle and maybe a brief run with the title. You have at make a big commotion though walking out of this room making people believe you left and keep silent on twitter and don't contact anybody.

Kind of a stretch but it seems like a possibility to me.

Here's the wrestlezone article

Why do people keep going on about this? He's finished with wrestling. He got engaged recently to a woman, that should show he's moving on with his life.

To be fair, he did get engaged to a woman WRESTLER, so that doesn't prove too much about him moving on from WRESTLING.

I do agree that he's probably done for now. If he returns, I can't see it being before the summer.

Still, gotta love that these hypotheticals are being thrown around. Shows how good Punk was at blurring lines in this overtly open era.

I fully believe Punk and AJ have been engaged for months....I believe AJ purposely leaked her engagement as a work or sorts to cover up any CM Punk in New Orleans reports. Austin "feels" Punk will return at Mania, Punk has wanted to work Austin at Mania for a few years now.

Punk has to come back face. It is WM it is the PPV of the faces. Punk battles HHH. HHH eventually goes off of TV. Punk turns on Bryan before Summerslam, we find out Stephanie is behind that turn.

Punk eventually jobs after a few months to Bryan.....Punk takes more time off, plays in the midcard for a few months. Stone Cold is the guest host of a Raw leading into the RR. Punk confronts Austin....Austin is a surprise entrant into RR and eliminates Punk. Punk gets Austin at WM31....rides off into the sunset for good.

The End

I don't think it's a work. I think he's gone for a while like Stone Cold was in 2002. If we're lucky, may see him come back at the Rumble next year. Maybe he'll finally be a part timer and get the respect he wants from management

I dont think that punk come back this year. Maybe he come next year as a part time. i think punk likes to wrestle as a part timer. Just like rock, brock.
His walkout is definitely anger HHH. In recent promo they indirectly blame punk. So no more punk in wwe.
Wwe had many talents and many other talents are waiting for an opportunity outside wwe. So wwe wont need punk.
In case if he appears at wm my view is rock and stone cold make a apperance at wm. Cm punk appears and wining about the part timers got spotlight at wm instead of him. Then he challenge scsa for a match at wm31.

in other case punk attack bryan at main event and batista wins the belt. Next night raw he blame bryan for taking the spot light from him. Bryan is the only reason that he didnt main event.

Why have another Summer Of Punk? The last one wasn't that great. One great promo & match followed by a few days off and back to normality. I can pass.

Punk needs to stay away for a while if he ever hopes of closing out a WrestleMania. That also means not returning in the summer months as the appeal will have long worn off by the time Mania comes around.

Oh great......another CM Punk thread. And quite honestly after the whole way he's handled this situation I don't want to see him back. Alot of guys in the locker room aren't happy with their position on the card, they're not walking out because of it. The hell with that guy,he's gone. So lets stop playing armchair booker with these what if scenarios.

I'll believe it when I see it. People should just stop hyping unrealistic things on the internet. This is why many people get disappointed with the WWE PPVs. Everyone expects Punk back, and when he doesn't appear, they're all gonna claim Wrestlemania sucked. Y'all expect something that has little chances of happening and then bitch about it. If he returns, wouldn't that be more pleasing if you didn't expect it?

Now if Punk returns, it would be nice to see him return in the main event. Bryan defeats Triple H with a roll up in their match (tho I'd love to see him make H tap out), and Triple H claims it was just a fluke and adds himself to the main event. When all three Evolution members team up on Bryan, Punk makes his return and helps Bryan win it. Punk then feuds with the Evolution members till Summerslam and can leave the WWE for a while, before finally returning at the Rumble next year to win it (On a personal note, I would love to see Punk return next year at the Rumble and not at Wrestlemania this year). Once he wins the Rumble, he can have the dream match a lot of fans want to see at Wrestlemania... Daniel Bryan vs CM Punk. It can end the show next year.

If Punk doesn't return, I'd like to see Jericho win the Rumble. This guy has never won it and he sure as hell deserves to win it. If that also doesn't take place, I'd like to see Dean Ambrose or Rollins win the Rumble for the MITB winner vs RR winner vs Champion match between all three members of the Shield.

It's like Conspiracy Theory, no one knows whats up with Punk except for the man himself. I feel the same people who thought the Daniel Bryan fiasco was a work the whole time around are saying Punk leaving is a work. If and When Punk is ready to return, he will. In the summer of 2011 when he thought he was leaving and had left he came back because he was told he'd get what he wanted. Now the times have changed, he is getting sick of the product from each and every side with the overworking to part timers to the lack of main events. He'll be back again if he thinks its worth the time and effort but otherwise whats the point of staying in the same place for a large part of your life

First things first. CM Punk is the only one who knows exactly what he is doing. Other than AJ Lee, Vince McMahon, and Triple H (and maybe Stephanie) I doubt others really know what the deal is.
CM Punk knows about the dirtsheets on the internet and has used them for his advantage even before WWE. If you watch his documentary you see how he set up his fake last match by having news leaked onto the internet about him leaving ROH, and then pulled a heel. I really believe that this may be a shoot or otherwise a work. It doesn't mean that CM Punk isn't tired and burned out. We know Punk doesn't take painkillers or any drug, so whatever time he gets off is really towards recovery. Last time he took time off before this one was after Wrestlemania, and that was only for 2 months. Before that, I don't think he took a break.
WWE can be thinking about another Summer Of Punk angle. It was highly successful and WWE does whatever they can to milk money out of any gimmick. If Cena's gimmick didn't draw money they would stop it tomorrow. Same with Bryan's.
Its funny how so many people are behind Bryan right now. Its very hypocritical because a few years ago he stated that WWE doesn't appreciate a wrestler for his wrestling capability but how much money his gimmick can draw. Now Bryan is doing the same dumb thing. Old Daniel Bryan > Goat Troll Bryan.
I really hope its another Summer Of Punk. Its one of the best years I've seen where the WWE champion actually put on matches that were the best in that pay-per-view.

And those matches you claim were the best on the ppv......if Punk wasn't main eventing with Cena or The Rock, the ppv sold worse than that same ppv the year before. There is a reason Cena main evented most of the ppvs during the time that Punk was the champion.........Punk wasn't a draw.

There could be other factors as well. More and more people are starting to stream free pay-per-views than actually buying it. I'm not talking about the money aspect either ways. I'm talking about match quality. I think Punk was putting on better matches than most people in his title run. We know Cena's fanbase has been big over the years, a lot of little kids and middle-aged women love SuperCena and his fanbase will always remain intact.

You honestly think match quality and draws are equivalent? Take Sting and Undertaker and put them in an ironman match together, and in the same pay-per-view put CM Punk vs Daniel Bryan.

The BETTER match will be CM Punk vs Daniel Bryan.
The MATCH MORE TALKED ABOUT, MORE HYPED AND MORE WATCHED will be Sting vs Undertaker. Those guys lasting an hour would be a miracle and probably die midway in the match, and pull off slow bumps, but the crowd would be going crazy.

There is more credibility attached to superstar's name depending on the kind of push he got. CM Punk's best push came during 2011. Cena has had a rocketship up his ass ever since 2006. He has the 2nd most title reigns. Obviously he'll be a bigger draw. But is he a better wrestler than CM Punk?
