WWE has announced that on tonight's three hour Raw, the Superstar of the year Slammy will be determined by a mini-tournament. The first round matches are…

* The Undertaker vs. Randy Orton
* John Cena vs. CM Punk

- The two winners will face off, with the winner of that match becoming the 2009 WWE Superstar of the year.

CM Punk FTW, he's the only one thats had a really good year in my opinion, seeing as he had the best fued of the summer. Cena and Orton have done the same thing as they have previously and Undertaker was out half the year so I hope its CM Punk

Am i the only one who thinks this MINI tourney is setting the stage for john cena vs taker wm26.I really hope they face off during the tourney cena loses then eventually this leads to cena turning heel. But either way im still gonna hate the slammy awards until they put it back to the way it used to be.

I would love to see CM Punk win, he really deserves it the most. However, he is the last person on the list I expect WWE to choose. And like F-5 monster stated this will most likely set up the Undertaker/Cena feud WWE has hinted at. Either way, I think WWE did not want the fans to vote on this because it would probably turn out differently than who the WWE wanted to win.

I hope it ends up with Punk pinning Taker Clean finally. Punk is the only one that will benifit majorly from a win tonight. All of the others are already established stars, Punk needs this.

I really hope that they do this for some of the other categories (i.e. Tag team of the year and Breakout star of the year), because it would give some unseen (or at least unseen on WWE TV) matches, and could result in some interesting situations, such as interactions between the stars genetically destined for greatness (the Legacy and Hart Dynasty (even though Kidd isnt decended from any pro wrestlers as far as I know)) and the two celtic champions. and besides they've got 3 hours to play with, they might as well fill up most of it with wrestling.

nope i thought this as well also thought that since cena is in this mini tournament meant theres little chance of a cena vs sheamus rematch.

punk really would benefit from this the most.. but i dont think he will win..

like the poster about said.. this is probably a match to foreshadow undertaker vs. cena at mania.. taker will win and somehow cena will get mad at taker... go to the rumble and win(thats why shemus won last night).. then challenge taker at mania..

i still think punk would benefit from this the most but ok wwe..

IMO, Batista is going to cause the Undertaker to lose, lengthening their feud. I still see Cena being tied up with Sheamus, so Sheamus could cause Cena to also lose himself. Of course, the same can be said for Orton/Kingston. Punk is really the odd man in the group that I can think of that doesnt have a very hot feud going on right now, so I dont see this match used to springboard any "new" feuds....but to help out the current ones that each man is currently in.

As for the winner...hard to pick. IMO Taker wont be it since he's only been around half the year (which leads me to my Batista run-in theory). Any of the others though IMO could legitamatly win it.

Cena said last week at RAW that he was excercising his rematch clause then and there for after TLC...why would he say that? it's quite clear to me that he and Sheamus will meet again...Shaemus beat him on a tecnicality, really, he put him through a table...it's not a clean win, he didn't pin him or make him submit and that will be grounds for a re-match and I'm pretty certain that Cena will get the title back like he always does.

as for the slammys, of course it'll come down to Taker and Cena but either Batista or Sheamus will interfere and there will be a non-finish, or more than likely the match will barely get underway, thus setting up more fuel to the fire of the rumored Cena/Taker Mania match...I can't see them giving away a match between the two for free if they are going to build to Mania.
