Sombody fire Striker, RIP Croc. Hunter

Mid-Card Championship Winner
I know out here this looser might get some support and as a wrestler some you guys like him. 1st off the man wasted 10 minutes of a 45 minute show (at least 15 in commercials.) those 10 min are crucial to ECW. But the thing that did it was his assonine comment about Steve Irwin. While some of you don't care he died, or even have the odasity to say he deserved to die, Striker's comments were still disgusting and tasteless. To me, i think Striker might have lost any respect he had left (im sure it was very very little). You don't use the deaths of Eddie a wrestler to do your show, and you don't then use the death of someone outside of wrestling no less to make jokes and poke fun to fill time on your stupid promo nobody wants to watch. Irwin was a conservationalist, and he did a lot. Yeah he was risky and did stunts and put his life in danger many times. But he was also an informer and a teacher to many children around the world. He taught us everything we could know about some animals tame or not. His death is tragic, and Striker while he is a heel, went too far with his choice of words.

Matt Striker said:
Thats why youll never catch me swimming with stingrays" and then rubbed his chest as if he was in pain

Some of you might not think it's that serious but it sure is. No need for stupidity like that, just not neccessary.

I just tuned into Fox News and a few other new channels and they were calling out Steve Irwin saying "He knew what he was doing", basically saying he was like Timothy Trentwell in Grizzly Man.

Wow.

Personally I don't think it was Matt Striker's choice. I'm sure someone backstage said...say this line...it will get you huge heat.

Although that is true, I meant to say both he and the "writer" of the line really need to think of new and different ways to get heat. I mean on RAW, you had Hass accidently hit Lillian Garcia and they made a storyline out of it (a very bad one might I add). He teamed up with Vis. and now you see him once every few weeks with no real storyline. This is off topic a little but just cuz the writers dont have a story for you shouldn't constitute in someone loosing their job. You could be an amazing wrestler and athlete but because theirs no story for you you get released. The writing team sux......there were no other things he could say to generate heat. Cmon, hees Matt Striker, the fans hate him anyway. He reminds me of Steve Richards when he was in Team Censored. Its pathetic how this writing team has no class. Just let them wrestle, some promos are good, but "10 minute, stupid promos that noone wants to hear, especially when your mocking a dead person" aren't neccessary.

I agree it wasnt neccessary but you need to understand it was for heat... The writer is the jackass... But Striker should of said I'm not doing it.. But WWE has a fetish of mocking people who passed... For that I have one thing to say.... Lowlifes...

You seem to think that its ALL Strikers fault and nobody elses! People make choices, bad or good, and Striker although a bad one decided to save his job and say the line. Striker DOES NOT write any of the stuff he says on National Television and that the job of the ECW writers, you don't seem to put any ofthe blame on Vince McMahon or Paul Heyman, as he would have some input in the words of choice.

Striker should not be fired for doing his job and al though he did say it, he wasn't behind any of it.

I agree with Aussie... If he didnt say that line... Then he probably would of lost his job...

Edit : But Strikers tie is stupid lookin... Had to add that :)

i did explain myself though, that I know Striker didn't write the line, but he could have said no, then again he could have lost his job. I recuse myself but the writer is at fault here. Im not happy with either one of them. It coulda just been avoided. Who knows maybe striker wanted to say the line, we dont know. Regardless if Vince, Heyman, the writer, Striker, or the guy in the first row wrote the line, it still wasn't "kool".

Agreeded it wasn't kool and the writer who wrote it should be fired and crusified. But you have to say things in life that you want to regret, you must remember what Orton said to Rey about "You can join Eddie in Hell R.I.P" back in there fued at No Way Out which was pathetic, but Orton had to say it or he would of been fired/suspended. Its a cheap way to get heat, falming sor saying the wrong against the deasesed.

Are you really surprised about this? By now you should know WWE does some controversial things. Whether it be what they say, do in a match, etc.... No, it shouldn't of been said, whether Striker was trying to get heat or just trying to be funny, but you chose to watch ECW knowing the risks involved in watching wrestling and what WWE does. Some wrestlers refuse to say or do things, but they don't always get fired or suspended for it. As for Striker, I don't know if he wanted to do it or not, but he still chose to do it anyway. I know this forum is for many different things and members are allowed to vent their frustrations regarding certain things being done by different wrestling promotions, but if your really having a problem with it maybe you should stop watching it, because you know about some of the controversial things the WWE has done and they're not going to stop doing things just because we fans have a problem with what they're saying or doing.

it aint that big of a deal

It might not be to you but for others it is, And Kapp pretty much changed my mind on the whole of things, you are the one that decides to watch it, WWE doesn't force you to, you decide of it. And as controversial as it is it doesn't change my opinion of Striker in anyway. He went out there and chose to say it, like you chose to watch it, it was a stupid move by WWE but it will probally blow over by the end of today.

Its bad enough there still exploiting Eddies death, now there looking to insult people outside the world of wrestling. The comment was retarted no matter what, Steve Irwin was a great humanitarian and did a lot, not to mention a very very entertaining person, I cannot think back of a time that he did not put a smile on my face whether on "The Crocodile Hunter" or on one of his interviews. Strikers (altough written by someone else) comments made it seem like Steve Irwin was an idiot, so like I said on the ECW 9.5 live thread, the person who wrote that needs to go F**k himeself.

R.I.P. Steve "Crocodile Hunter" Irwin, you will be missed.

Whoever was responsible, it was just plain tasteless. It's hard to point the finger at just one person though.

i thaught it sucked, they could of done with out that, i cant believe they would do that. R.I.P mighty croc man

I really hate Striker's gimmick, it wont help him get over anywhere. That line was shit, i seriously think the WWE writers are on crack now days.

It was an easy way to get a reaction from the crowd and fans watching the show and it worked.

Exactly heels are nobody is intrested in Strikes so they have to get him some heat somehow. Nobody should be surprised, if they use a dead employee to gain heat then they wont think twice about somebody in a different field of entertainment.

Orton wastes 20 minutes of every show he is in, has less talent than Striker and had a shot at Eddy, SEVERAL times. If they fire him first then yeah, fire Striker then.

I don't like Mat Striker! He is boring I usually put my tv on mute when he's on. I'm not surprised By Vince's tastlessness,I'm sure he's the one who told Striker to make the comment.Or maybe it was Stephanie. :shit:

I think you guys care a little too much about this, orton said eddie was in hell, and others have used his name in disgrace for storylines, so as this goes its not that big of a deal compared to other things that have happened

Vince apologized
Credit:ECW.com
The following is a statement from the Chairman of the Board of WWE:

"We at WWE apologize for the remark alluding to the death of Steve Irwin which was made on ECW on Sci Fi Tuesday night. The remark was, in the least, disrespectful to Mr. Irwin's fans and family."

WWE still use Eddie's name

Tell you how low they will go

Next thing they will mock Owen Hart

I think that they are at least smart enough to know that if they do that (mock Owen) that people will be so angry they probably won't watch, not to mention they'd probably face legal trouble from the Harts...I certainly wouldn't put it above WWE though.
