So...Duke Nukem Forever?

In case you haven't heard, the video game equivalent to Dr. Dre's Detox, Duke Nukem Forever, has not only been shown to be well on its way to a release, but was actually available to play at the recent Penny Arcade Expo. This is due to development being taken over by Gearbox Software (makers of Borderlands). The game is set to release sometime next year (hilarious if it's delayed again) for PC, PS3 & 360. I just have a question: do you care? It's been so long since the first game (which I did enjoy), and there is much bigger competition on the FPS market these days. Will you buy this game, give it a shot, or ignore it completely?

In all honesty, I always have felt that Duke was an overrated series. Duke 3D was a fun game, but other then the badass factor, it really didnt do much for me. I enjoyed the fact that I could kick a shark in the mouth and I did enjoy the game, just not as much as most others seem to, I am not sure why.

I dont think there is any way Forever can live up to this hype. We have heard the stories of the guy who preordered the game 12 years ago and still has his receipt, seen all the trailers over the years. A game that has been delayed ridiculously long is naturally going to get more hype then it should have. I dont think Forever will come close to meeting it. Not to say it will be a bad game, I will be satisfied if it simply ends up being good.

Unfortunatly I see it playing out like Guns N Roses' Chinese Democracy, good in its own right but because of the delays and hype it will be looked down upon.

Nevertheless I plan on getting it, while it may be a generic shooter it will be fun because of Duke's antics

I'll rent it just to see how fucked up it'll be, but no i'm not going to fork out £40 for a FPS. I've still not played one that lives up to Goldeneye 64 (yeah, come on, bring on all the Halo and COD fans to tell me how wrong i am).

I always enjoyed Duke Nukem so I would probably play it, more for the comedy and nostalgia than the actual game-play most likely. I can't really see this game being that good though. I'll still play it though.
