Smackdown Spoilers for Friday

Mr. Truth

Real American Hero
4. Big Show beat Wade Barrett by DQ. The match lasted about seven minutes. Typical Big Show match. He was going for the choke slam but Heath Slater came from the back and Justin Gabriel came from the crowd and caused the DQ. The usual beatdown ensued and Ezekiel Jackson came out and gave Show a huge clothesline. Heath Slater and Justin Gabriel hit their finishers. All of them stood over Show and raised their hands. Looks like a new Nexus faction.

Place your bets on what they'll call themselves.

Now what exactly was the point of separating Wade from the Nexus and sending him so Smackdown if you're just going to put him in another stable? Nexus has more or less taken him as far as it can. It's time for him to show that he can do it on his own, teaming him with two charismaless lumps and Zeke Jackson is just going to hold him back.

This is that thing where something is successful for a few months and then is never allowed to go away, right? It's like Edge, but change "months" to "weeks."

I can only assume that this will lead to the reveal that Punk and Barrett are in it together to dominate both shows.

Oh and so begins Wade Barrett's path to jobbing at Mania to Taker.

Eh, I think Barrett's in with a shot of ending the streak depending on when 'Taker wants to retire. I believe that he's gone on record as saying that the day he can't keep up with the young 'uns is the day he retires. That day's getting mighty close. The streak's worthless once he's gone so he may as well leave 'Mania on his back if he won't make it to another one.

I think Taker live to fight another Mania. He'll squash Barrett at Mania this year and go on to face someone else at 18.

NOBODY squashes Wade Barrett. He's one of the most protected guys at the moment, and reports say that 'Taker's high on him and thus won't want to squash him even if the writers wanted him to.

Jesus Christ WWE, really? You're going to do the nWo Wolfpac thing? AGAIN?

This is some of the worst news I've heard out of the WWE in a long time. This sounds like something TNA would do.

Coco summed it up though. Something is successful so they drive it into the ground and never, ever let it go away for several years. Can't wait for Nexus Classic vs. Nexus Lite at Wrestlemania 28.

The question is, which is Nexus classic, the one with 3 original members, or the one where everyone's still wearing armbands.

And for the record, I hate this angle. It's stupid, rehashed and holding back Barrett.

I don't really give a shit what they do with Barrett until he learns how to work a proper match on his own without the guiding hands of guys like John Cena. He's not ready for that main event push IMO.

I agree this angle is very stale and limiting though.

Someone pointed this out earlier, but I wouldn't be shocked if this turned out to be a conspiracy (strong word, I know) put together by both Punk and Barrett. This would be an easy way for Nexus to take over both shows.

Another option would be The New Nexus vs. Barrett's Nexus at either Elimination Chamber, or Wrestlemania.

I fancy that they might claim to be the real Nexus with Punk using "New" Nexus or the "Uprising"

Very possible.

The streak is worthless once Taker retires?? Is this a joke? The streak IS his legacy. Would Barrett even want to end the streak? "IF TAKER LOSES, WE RIOT!" I've seen that sign plenty of times, and I'm not sure I would want to be the other guy in that match going forward.

Why is Jackson there BTW? What purpose does he have in this angle?

Dumb muscle.

Which would accomplish what exactly?

At EC and 'Mania both Barrett and Punk have mor eimportant things to do that partake in a pointless heel vs heel feud over whose got the better peons.

A legacy which means what to Mark Calaway when he's selling houses for a living? A legacy that means what to WWE when The Undertaker won't be showing up at the next Wrestlemania. A legacy can't be sold and is worthless when the guy with the legacy is gone. So tell me, why exactly should Undertaker retire with his streak in tact when it's no different in effect to any other undefeated streak or title reign?

Would Barrett even want to end the streak?

I couldn't tell you, seeing as I don't know the man but I doubt he'd object to the exposure and the shift up the card if he was chosen to end the streak.

"IF TAKER LOSES, WE RIOT!" I've seen that sign plenty of times, and I'm not sure I would want to be the other guy in that match going forward.

Those signs became irrelevent the second ECW ONS 2 went off the air. They would have rioted, but you're not going to get a riot started in an arena mostly populated by parents.

I really don't get your dislike of Barrett X. I know he's not good in the ring, but I do feel he does a decent job and the things he does get a responce. He may be a slow, limited brawler but he holds up his end of the matches he gets put in.

To illustrate my point, here's a match I think is decent without a superior worker in it (unless Tyler Reks counts). It's from a house show a couple of years ago though, so the video quality's fairly bad.

Not even. Undertakers streak not only elevates him but makes Mania even larger in respect. With proper marketing WWE can continue to bank on it for years after he leaves. The WWE will continue to use Takers streak to elevate the event, DVDs and the like. A legacy is not a true legacy if forgotten, if you look the WWE still markets and banks off of its past legends. A legacy is not worthless when the guy is gone, as its that legacy and those memories that make Wrestlemania and the WWE what they are. Where would the WWE be without Hulk Hogans legacy? Steve Austin? How long after they left/retired did the WWE continue to try and market them? Even after Bret Hart left they marketed him, a legacy is never useless if you know what to do with it. I would personally like to see Taker keep his streak, Barrett doesnt need to end in order to become a star; Orton has done ok without ending it.

Nexus has only been around for 7 months, feels a tad longer. Reminds me of DX, they never really went away and just stayed on extended breaks...They still come around. I really feel this Nexus thing may have gotten to the point where not much more can be gotten out of it, but some of these guys need it to survive. I am not sure people like Otunga and Slater can do well on their own, Slater could end up like Darren Young.

About time to wind it down, I have a feeling they could make it bigger(Worse), its 4 on both sides but remember that Tarver and Sheffield are not around...I just hope those 2 dont combine with Young to try and make this a 3 way Nexus clusterfuck.

Big Zeke? You're already showing you care for ethnics by having a ginger in there for fuck sake
