Sirius XM: Back in Black

Throwing a tantrum
Satelitte radio breathed a sigh of relief, as it has not done in a long time. It made money for the first time in two years, after the two biggest names in the subscription radio merged in 2008. They made over 14 million to begin the long road to recovery. The bounce back in the automobile helped the shares of the company relieve some pressure.

But will it last forever? I no longer have the service, I just didn't see the need. With my iPod with 1000s of songs, and CBC radio giving me everything I want with its multitude of stations on FM, I have no need for it. Will it die off as more cars are being fitted with iPod plugins? I suspect it will, who wants to pay for music these days?

I switched over to satellite for Stern, back when he switched some four or five years ago. At first it was really cool, the features, the stations, It's was(is) the HBO of radio, but that new "radio" feeling wares off quickly, the monthly price becomes a bit steep as well.

If anything satellite radio will fall off the map, or become standard radio, people won't be willing to fork out the cash every month, and with music options coming from every direction, there is really no reason to fork out the extra cash.

I switched over for Howard Stern, but after a while it started to stale, maybe because I was paying to listen, in turn raising expectations. After a year of service I was done, still have all the equipment too, hoping one day for free service.
