People need to realize (as I have seen this tons of times in this section of the forums) is that this entire section is dedicated to the Wrestlezone Hall of Fame, not the WWE Hall of Fame, Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame, the Wrestling Observer Hall of Fame, etc. THE WRESTLEZONE HALL OF FAME.
With that said, Verne Gagne should absolutely be inducted into the Wrestlezone Hall of Fame. What makes me sad though is the the majority of fans that I have seen talk about Verne Gagne only talk about what a great trainer and promotor he was, and little to nothing about his wrestling career. Verne wasn't some mid card guy that happened to train many future greats and run the AWA.
Verne Gagne was one of the biggest stars pro wrestling had to offer during the 1960's and 1970's and even the very early 1980's. He was on par with Lou Thesz and Bruno Sammartino as the babyface giants of that era. As well as in technical ability as he wrestled in the Olympics in the late 1940's. Verne was a huge star and one of the greatest legends in the history of pro wrestling, just for his actual wrestling career alone. People criticize him holding the AWA title for so long, but he was a huge draw that deserved it. Him and Nick Bockwinkel was one of the all-time classic feuds in the territory era.
Verne Gagne wasn't just a great trainer and a promotor of one of the biggest American wrestling promotions. Verne Gange is one of the greatest WRESTLERS in the entire history of pro wrestling. He's a shoe-in for this HOF, and should be no higher than the 10th inductee. He should be amongst the first 10 inductees IMO.
