Should there be a WWECW DVD set?

Dark Match Jobber
My thoughts: I've been a fan since it has come back and while ECW ceased to TRULY be, the show was always entertaining and up until the last days featured some of the best WRASSLIN matches on television. Those matches and stars DESERVE to be showcased and archived IMO.

I think if it did come out we would see the rebirth portion buried and guys like Sandman and Nunzio would get barely get mentioned...it would be nice to see a documentary on the evolution of the show and how it went from WWE Extreme to PG and in the process made stars like CM PUNK, MIZ, MORRISON, shaemus(NOT). Christian had some great matches and his reign was impeccable and would make for some great chapters in the set.

So do you think it'll happen and would YOU buy it...and why/why not?

I personally hope not. ECW is dead, it's buried and that's exactly the way it should stay. If I were going to do anything with some of the matches shown on ECW, which overall was a decent wrestling show even if it was ECW in name only, just put together DVD complilations of wrestlers like Christian, CM Punk or some of the others that shined on ECW and just include some of their finest moments/matches while they were part of the brand.

It would be good to showcase the talent that actually were interesting on the brand like CM Punk, John Morrison Miz, Matt Hardy and Christian, this would make it a somewhat worthwile DVD, maybe even have the beginnings of WWECW when it was good (If it had RVD's match against Cena I'd buy it)

Yes please, Have it where it began with RVD beating Cena, Show Big Show beating RVD. Have a match or two of Big Show as champion. Show Lashley getting the title, skip through Lashley's reign too Morrison/Punk feud. Show allot of Miz and Morrison as they were ECW in 2008. Go through Chavo, Kane, Mark Henry, Matt hary, Swagger era's. Christians near year of dominance and finally the end.

They could easily make a long DVD about it. So much happened its just too bad not many people thought of ECW as anything other then something Vince was trying to kill. I would love to see a DVD of the three and a half years of ECWWE.

GOD YES! You can't deny that WWECW had some amazing matches and moments and I think it would be awesome to relive those moments. I'm begging for the WWE to make one!

I'd buy the DVD in a second. Personally I feel like Superstars should have been replaced with NXT. But there were some pretty good matches on ECW like the ECW after WM23 had The New Breed vs. The Originals in an Extreme Rules, or Tommy Dreamer vs. Christian last year. I found it as a replacement for Heat, which I was addicted to. Although there were better matches as opposed to storylines in ECW IMO, still had some great moments like Tommy's Retirement speech and the debut of Braden Walker. For me it was a pretty good show, sucks its gone. Maybe it wouldnt have such a bad rep if the ECW name had been changed once every original besides Dreamer left.

If Vince can make money off it, he will, I personally thought that whole era was garbage for the most part so I wouldn't buy it, but hey, if enough people want it I'm sure they'll get it ( .. or what Vince liked about it anyway)

No.

There are way more important, much better options WWE should be looking at as far as DVD compilations are concerned.

WWE's ECW lasted a little over 3 years, but other than debuting CM Punk, the show honestly didn't accomplish anything outside of that. I mean, seriously... the show was treated like an ugly, red-headed step child for fuck's sake... why should it start getting special treatment now that it's dead and gone? Makes no sense.

Besides, ratings were absolutely terrible. I'm sure the DVD sales would be just as bad.

I'd be interested A) because I didn't have SciFi channel for most of ECW's run, and B) because I do know there were some great matches and stars like Punk, Morrison, etc. I would buy it too see what I missed.

I don't think so. WWECW was basically WWE's bastard child and I never thought the WWE (Vince in particular) thought too much of ECW as it was basically the new WWE Heat, a place where younger talent can showcase their skills (with a few veterans peppered in) and have a chance to shine, but the reason they were on ECW is because they still had some seasoning to do. Morrison and Punk had great matches no doubt, but their skills have improved tenfold since IMO.

Also looking at the ratings of ECW, I don't think it would do too well in the DVD sales, especially when there are more things in wrestling that deserve a DVD a lot more than ECW (for example,a million dollar man DVD, or a DVD dedicated to the history of cruiserweight wrestling).

Down the road maybe (much further down the road) but not for a long while.

If you want to talk about spending money on other DVD projects WWE isnt that smart. How the hell does John Morrison get a DVD before current stars like Jericho & Big Show. Or legends as you mentioned like Dibiase. The ECW DVD would be more interesting than Morrisons. Only smart DVD release scheduled in the next few months is HBK's 25 Best Matches.

I was at the show live right after wm 23 for that extreme rules mach and it was awesome!!! Sadly, there just wernt enough simply awesome maches in WWECW to make a dvd, or at least not one that will turn a profit......Although I would like to see a chris Jericho DVD.....or a christain DVD.....Now those would sell!!!!!

I would buy it. I was a faithful follower of WWECW for the majority of its run and there are a lot of matches it had that I would love to see again, like Morrison vs. Bourne last year. It would also be cool to see how ECW was showcased in other PPV's not just on Tuesdays. That way we could see the New Breed vs. The Originals at WrestleMania 23 or Christian and Shelton Benjamin's ladder match.

I really dont think that WWE will make a WWECW DVD, Because most of the good Matches were in the old ECW era when WWE just had bought ECW out. But yet again WWE now has top stars that debut in ECW , People such as ,The miz, JoMo, Cm Punk ,Kofi. IF WWE some how does do a DVD of ECW i will like the to put some great matches with all of the wrestlers that i mention, Maybe put the match between Christian and Shelton the one in the TLC PPV, That match was the best out of that card. But If WWE does take a DVD out i will be the first one in line.

2 Matches I thought of

1. ECW ONS 06 - Foley & Edge vs. Dreamer & Funk
This match was crazy. Barbedwire was showcased to perfection & this match really ushered in the new era of extreme.

2. RVD vs. John Cena ECW ONS 06
Even if it was at a One Night Stand PPV, it was still RVD's crowning moment and it has possibly the most memorable crowd in wrestling history.

Well, the WWE has released three DVD compilations on the old and new ECW: The Rise and Fall of ECW; Blood Sport: ECW, The Most Violent Matches; and ECW: Extreme Rules. I think another set would be overkill, as WWE hasn't spent this kind of time on any other project from what I know. Not DX, WCW...anything.

Plus, the third set I mentioned, Extreme Rules, had a mix of classic ECW matches mixed in with bouts from the then-new WWECW...including the match where Bob Holly had his back sliced open. Those are more of the memorable moments from the new ECW, and it would probably be best to leave it at that. If you want to relive moments from any of the One Night Stand PPVs, just go buy those DVDs.

I definitely think there could be a DVD for WWE's ECW. Sure it was the obvious "C" show next to Raw and Smackdown, but it did have its fans and WWE knows they can make money off of those fans if they make a DVD for them. I'd get this DVD if they made it because it would likely include the debuts of superstars who came in through the New Talent Initiative.... as well as getting it for clips from Christian's awesome reign with the ECW Championship. A lot of people didn't like WWE's ECW, but there should be a DVD for it some day because the show had enough fans that it would probably make a decent amount of money.

My view on this, is what could it hurt? I'd probably buy it the year after it came out when they're cheap. I actually think a mix of both 'Extreme' and 'PG' would be interesting, the 'Evolution of ECW' would arguably attract both the old fans, and newer ones which means the WWE could get quite a few sales out of this.

ECW should have been dead year ago. ECW was never meant to be PG and I'm glad Vince McMahon finally made the decision to end it. Therefore, I don't think there should be a WWECW DVD set released. I don't think it would sell much anyway.
