One to Remember

Championship Contender
A wrestlers identity can be based on a mask, a persona, an attitude, a style, a group. Less talked about is a wrestler's hair. What would HBK, HHH, RVD, or Dolph Ziggler be without hair? It was easy to see Eddie Guerrero and Scott Steiner lose their early '90s mullets towards the beginning of the new millinium. A spikey short due also put a bit of life into Ric Flair in the early 2000s but some wrestlers simply can't make the transition. Kurt Angle looks overworked, old, and insane, the Undertaker looked gruesome in leaked pictures, the Rock looks goofy trying to compensate with that goatee and a huge neck vain, my biggest qualms with Kane's unmasking was the fact that the long locks came off with his mask at the same time, ditto for when Luke Gallows donned it. The Big Show in addition to being out of shape, and a silly looking singlet that also looks like a girl's halter top at a night club never looked as appealing as he did with his short hair or as cool as he did with his long blonde hair during his WCW days.

After, Present (2012)

I realize its alot to mandate but I watched the commercials, done the research, and most of these guys have enough hair left to do restoration. Do you think it would be alright for the WWE brass to put preassure on them to do it or risk possible releases?

Sorry, what?

No, there shouldn't be a mandatory hair restoration policy. People go bald, some people go bald young, others go bald later. Some people get a whiff of a bald spot and immediately start tonic their head. Some people bic their head anyway. If Big Show wanted long hair again he would get plugs but it should be his choice. Look at Wayne Rooney, he looks like someone shaved a monkey then glued hair on it.

I had no idea The Rock and Show look so similar.

Anyway, this idea is great for all the talent it seems. However the magic of baldness has been propagated through the shiny domes of Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Immortal Hulk Hogan. I do not think any such policy would quite be necessary. Although many superstars might adopt it personally.

Releasing someone over their hairstyle? No, just no.

Fashion changes and so do people's hairstyles. I admit, Kurt, for example looks bad but I don't think that's a result of him simply having a shave...

I dont see the problem. Kurt, rock, stone cold and big show all look great with the bald look. They can pull it off.

Ugly people like Edge would look horrible bald.

If your good looking, youll look good no matter if you have hair or not. If your ugly like edge, your ugly hair or no hair. Its simply a case by case basis.

I think it is just a sign of the change in fashions. It used to be the cool thing for guys to have long hair in the 70's and 80's and early 90's. Now it is more in fashion for guys to have shorter hair cuts, so many wrestlers have followed that trend. Also as stated most of these guys were going bald anyway. Shawn Michaels is definitely losing more hair up top each time I see him but he is still clinging to that long haired look. Hogan has had extensions for god knows how long to try and keep those golden locks. If you are naturally losing your hair you should probably just go with, because if not 9 times outta 10 you end up looking like more of a jackass.

Uh, do you have a secret crush on Edge? Why all the random hate?

Anyway, while I normally try to see the side of the person who started the thread, in this case I just can't get my head around it. First off you took a dumb picture of the Big Show with hair to compare to a menacing photo of him bald, I prefer the bald look. Some people just go bald, for instance Rocky was trying hard to hold onto his hair before he decided to shave it all off, so much so it started to look ridiculous. I prefer the bald look to the ridiculous, I have some hair so I'm not letting it go look. Kurt Angle is a wreck. Hair doesn't make the superstar, it enhances them. Undertaker was STILL Undertaker at WM28, still put on a great show, and didn't do it with hair. On the other hand, when Dolph cut his hair and went brown, he looked like a generic wrestler and didn't stand out at all, due to his (back then) lack of charisma. Now he could probably pull it off better, he still would stand out. The point is, if a guy is good, he is good. HBK would still be HBK. Yeah the long hair works, but he'd still be HBK.

avoid hair transplants just shave it cut it short or wear a hat

to hard to maintain results you still lose hair after a hair transplant

big biceps should be mandatory on wrestlers more then a good hairline

Bald?:)

Seriously, though, I have no problem with these guys going their own way with what's on top of their heads. A little individual expression is fine, given the cartoon character image most of them are forced to convey with their bodies and personalities. Just as some people wear their clothes better than others, many guys look better with no hair than others.

Change is good. Let 'em try different things.

Heck, I even liked Serena Deeb with no hair.

While we're on the subject of hair, I'm just watching RAW from last night...

During the little set to between Lesnar and Cena at the start, did anyone else notice Jack Swaggers hair... Seriously, WTF :D

Wow...the easy answer to this is NO! WWE and TNA already own the likenesses of most of their talent, they don't need to be enforcing the amount of hair they are able to grow.

Someone's hair changing, or someone losing their hair, isn't that big a deal. When you look at someone like Big Show, or Angle, yeah their hair has changed, and yeah in Angle's case, he's lost a lot of hair, but that in itself tells a story about the person. Angle has been in the business for quite some time, been through some wars, and looks the part. Big Show, balding or not..just looks better with no hair.

Yeah, some guys like Hogan look a tad silly with the shaggy donut look, but that's as iconic as the red, yellow, and mustache.

Give the wrestlers a break, they put their bodies through hell..often have to have who knows how many surgeries to stay healthy and continue to perform. The least they can have is their hair, the way they want it.

Ok, look. Firtly, Kane shaved his head a dodgy way to make himself look crazy, his original long locks, were long. And if you see the photos of him from last year, he can still grow hair, it is just a little grey.

As for plugs, plugs, are hard to maintain, and it would be damn near impossible for a wrestler to maintain them, specially with the punishment they take.

That, and this thread is really gay. People get older and go bald. Sunrise, sunset.

Nah, I could see it in some cases but if they want to shave bald let them. Some like Chavo Guerrero decided they wanted hair restoration (hell if I had the same issue I would).

It should solely be up to the person. Look at Edge now for example. Its a touchy subject and something that should, like I said before, be up to the person.

The examples you provided dont really support your point. The Rock and Big Show look more modern, thats all. In fact I bet they could grow some hair but at this point chose to keep shaving their heads. Kurt Angle does that to himself by refusing to shave his beard and head. Last I heard, however, he returned to his WWE look and it still suits him. I dont think a policy is necessary, hair restoration is up to the individual. I remember Chavo Guerrero did it and was even featured on some ads for hair loss. It worked great for him and I'm sure guys with as much money as The Rock and Big Show are aware that technology for hair growth is readily available to them.

While I think this is one of the stupidest topics ever, just because I am INCREDIBLY bored, let me explain why the OP is 100% wrong.

Mandatory hair restoration? Let me ask you something...did going from golden blond locks to bald hurt Steve Austin's career at all? In fact, when you mention Steve Austin, which image do you think people think of first? Stunning Steve Austin, with the long blond hair, or Stone Cold Steve Austin, bald? Would Stone Cold have worked AT ALL had he kept his hair?

But, here is the real reason why this thread is completely asinine. If the WWE fired someone because they didn't keep their hair or didn't "restore" their hair, it would be absolutely 100% mockable. Hell, some guys look better bald. You think the Rock looks goofy bald with the goatee, I think it makes him look far more badass. Big Show didn't shrink when he cut off his hair, did he? Kurt Angle originally shaved his head because HE LOST A HAIR VS. HAIR MATCH against Edge. Not only did the WWE not mind Kurt shaving his head, they wrote it into a storyline.

This entire thread is one colossal fail.
