This is my first time posting a thread so forgive me if it's a little long. I can ramble on sometimes. I'm asking you to think of past WrestleManias and tell me if they could have been booked better. I am looking for realistic possibilities. By this I mean don't say something like it would have been great to see Sting vs. Shawn Michaels at mania 11. You can only work with who was on the roster at the time of whatever mania you're talking about. Try to keep injuries in mind too. No booking Batista at mania 22 for example. Here are my thoughts:
Mania 4: Ricky Steamboat should have beaten Greg Valentine. Think about it. This would have set up a Savage Steamboat match in round two of the tournament. A rematch from the two guys who stole the show at mania 3 would have been a classic on a card that was a little bland in action. One year later with both guys face. This time Steamboat puts Savage over and they shake hands at the end. I believe Steamboat left the WWF right after Mania and it would have been a great way for him to go out.
Mania 9: Hulk Hogan should not have won the title. Yokozuna should have left champion. Hogan could have come out and set up a feud for a future showdown, but should not have left mania with the belt.
Mania 13: I would have put the two teams competing for the tag titles in singles matches against their own partners. Owen and Bulldog had a classic match in the finals for the European title. It was Mania worthy and should have been held off until then. Vader vs. Mankind could have been interesting too. It was a wild time in the WWF and the right show for these two brawlers to go at it in an extremley physical contest. Could have had a story where Mankind was jealous of Uncle Paul giving attention to Vader.
Mania 15: First off Billy Gunn and Road Dogg should not have switched matches. This made no sense at all. Damn Russo. Next The Hardy Boys should have won the battle royal on Heat to face Owen and Jarrett for the tag titles. I mean D Lo and Test? Give me a break. The Hardys were not very well known yet and it would have been a great time to introduce them to the world. They could have had a great match and come close to upsetting the champs, but just fall short. Turns out things worked out for the Hardys anyway, but this would have been a good story and way better match then what we got.
Mania 18: Kurt Angle should have wrestled Edge. I didn't care for the Angle/Kane feud and Edge feuding with Booker over shampoo didn't do much for me. Angle and Edge could have given us a classic match. Plus the American hero going into Edge's hometown in Canada would have added to the match. Besides these two starting feuding right after mania anyway. Just throw Booker and Kane against each other instead.
Mania 24: It was great to see Orton get a surprise win over Triple H and Cena, but I think this should have been Hunter vs. Cena one on one. Hunter was crusing to a Royal Rumble victory until Cena's surprise appearance. Cena could have taken the title off Orton at No Way Out and lost it to Hunter at Mania. This would avenge HHH's loss at mania 22 setting up a rubber match somewhere down the road. I would have put Orton against Batista. This is a natural feud. Of course we all know both were members of Evolution and have gone on to become mega stars. I think it's interesting that Batista basically took Orton's spot at mania 21 and throughout 2005. Orton was being groomed to be the breakout star in Evolution and Batista came out of nowhere and took that spot from him.
Those are my thoughts. What are yours?
