Shocker: The WWE Wants To Have Its Cake, And Eat It, Too

Yaz ain't enough, I need Fluttershy
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted that some talent took the idea of being a third touring brand seriously and thought they would be paid more appropriately on larger shows, but this is not moving forward. The report said eventhough WWE is attempting to position NXT as a third brand for the public, it will still be contracted like developmental for the talent.

So let me get this straight: You're going to present this like a third brand, except you're going to not pay your wrestlers like it is the third brand.

This is from the same company that hides behind the facade that its employees are independent contractors, yet have a ridiculous non-compete clause.

Doesn't anyone else find this absolutely ridiculous?

When there is a gate percentage to give them fron live gates, they will. Currently, 98% of the show they run operate at a loss. It's a "third brand" in so much as it has a popular tv show.

10% of zero is zero.

So when they begin to regularly sell out larger buildings they will change the pay structure. EvErin needs to use logic and calm their tits.

WZ again doing a good job of spinning this in a way to try to make WWE look bad.

This story seems like a major stretch and a piss poor attempt to stir the pot amongst a few dirt sheet followers. It is perfectly okay to market NXT as a third Brand as they are still attempting to grow awareness. However there is zero reason to begin changing it's operating structure because NXT is not a financially stable outlet for WWE. As for your Independent Contractor grip I hope you understand there are plenty of situations where companies require exclusive rights from contractors.

Except, the NXT wrestlers who are complaining also want to have their cake, and eat it, too.

The ones who would make the most money from gate receipts, i.e. the top guys, would make more money in the indies. But they don't want to give up their chance at making it to the WWE. They want both the money and the golden opportunity, instead of either waiting to get to the WWE roster, or quitting and working on the indies.

NXT is already operating at a loss, but these complainers want to suck it even more dry, because apparently getting world-class pro wrestling training isn't enough. These guys, bar arguably Samoa Joe, are nobodies in America. They're not entitled to anything.

The fact is, if they're good enough, and they put in the work, they'll get what they deserve; A call up to the main roster, and bigger paychecks. Otherwise, they need to shut up and get on with it.

If they're live events are running at a loss then they can't expect to get paid more, even if you are selling out large arenas from time to time, especially if all the other live events offset the profit made from the something like the Brooklyn show. You could argue it's simply not fair but in the simplest terms it's business. NXT and I believe WWE's performance center both run at a deficit but they do it to groom future talent. The whole idea of both is to take the deficit now so the talent that comes out can make money for them later when they are called up to the main roster. Yeah it would be nice if they could make more money but at the end of the day it's not how many people you draw it's how much money is made, that's why ECW often couldn't pay talent even though they had some pretty good crowds from time to time.

Doesn't look like this thread turned out the way you were hoping.

It totally sucks when you feel strongly enough about a point to create a thread and it just gets dumped on. Chrome should show up with a meme to capture the feeling.

Have you ever heard of college football? Yeah, that sucks too.

They just want to present it bigger then it acctually is. In other words they do what they do with all WWE product, present it like a big thing but acctually it isnt. ;)

NXT is the minor leagues of WWE so the "stars" are going to get minor league pay.

I'm sure they know the deal.

Anyone who worked that brand still gets to put WWE on their resume when they leave and that allows them to increase their booking fee.
