Shane McMahon and The New Blood

Could WWE use Shane to retell a WCW new blood storyline? I don't care whether you liked the WCW story or not!
Say we are seeing a typical opening to Raw with HHH and Steph blabbing in the ring out comes Cena who blabs followed by Orton who blabs then Shamus followed by more you fill in the blanks. As the ring is filled with the same old crap out comes Shane followed by Foley, The New Age Outlaws, Undertaker, Stone Cold, Kurt Angle and The Rock. The place is going ape!! Shane cuts a pipe bomb and the Attirude Era Icons explain that they can't kick ass like they use to but they are fed up and they've got some friends who are willing to fight for them. Seth Rollins, Owens, Ambrose, Enzo & Cash, Samoa Joe, Neville, AJ Styles and whoever else you want, add and subtract as you see fit, surround the ring and eventually enter as an all out brawl begins. Without being too blatant the Attitude Era Icons have just given us the okay to cheer on their replacements for the next wrestling Boom! Any good??? Can Shane bring some attitude era icons with him or is Shane as far as they go in this storyline? Regardless of whether he wins or losses to Undertsker Shane vs HHH is the next step so why not stack the deck? Make it The Establishment led by HHH versus Shane-O-Macs Young Blood.

You do know the WCW New Blood storyline was some of the worst wrestling television ever made, if not THE worst, right?

I don't think if Shane wins and gets "control" of RAW that much will change, in all honesty. The various "tiers" will remain mostly as they are, the stories will continue to be rehashed versions of pervious stories, and folks will stil whine incessant about how the Attitude and Ruthless aggression eras were so much better than today's product.

The only real change we'd actually see is the "boss" of the show. It'd be a face for a while, instead of The Authority.... we hope. It could all just end up being a typical McMahon swerve and The Authority would end up being headed on Smackdown by Steph, and on Raw by Shane, and all would still be heels.

Actually this is something i was thinking about too. New Blood was exactly what came to mind.

Noone is going to claim that the New blood story line was a success for wcw. The new blood was a reboot for WCW. It failed because they didnt handle it right. But WWE badly needs a reboot and a fresh start and maybe they could learn from wcw mistakes.

Tv is stale, its the same stuff happening every week and people are bored. Lifelong fans are abandoning the product. Shane mentioned as much in his return promo. WWE is totally aware of how bad it is. They need something different. With all of the talk of Balor club or bulletproof coming together after mania its the perfect opportunity for a retooling of raw and smackdown.

I'm of the opinion, and that's all it is, that Shane McMahon's return to WWE MIGHT, and I do mean MIGHT, be a sign of the first step towards Vince stepping down as CEO of WWE. Now, as of right now, Shane isn't listed as an executive in WWE and is being paid $120,000 for his participation at WrestleMania. However, the very night of or the night after WrestleMania, Shane could easily sign a contract in which he's both an on-screen character and executive. As WWE is a publicly traded company, there are certain regulations that have to be followed so while Shane isn't technically an executive with WWE again, he could very well be in everything except a matter of paperwork.

The thing about the whole storyline is that win or lose, Shane will NOT genuinely have control of Raw and, thereby, WWE. Trips and Stephanie will still have the same jobs they've had, Vince will still be CEO and will still be the final creative decision maker. As a whole, there won't be any real opportunity for any major, sweeping changes in WWE until Vince McMahon has a major change in his perspective, which isn't at all likely, or he steps down either by choice or circumstances beyond his control such as disease or death.

Who cares if Shane wins? This is the most stupid storyline I have ever seen in a lead up to a major PPV event. And I cannot believe this is for WrestleMania no less. I mean why oh why is Shane suddenly facing the Undertaker at WM?? Theres no back story to this apart from a few words between Vince and Shane on Raw a few weeks ago. Shane is not a major star, not a wrestler and the Undertaker is the most successful WWE star ever - it makes no sense. Worse still, they have re-run the Wrestlemania 17 story - "Shane battles Vince for the control of WWE" but put Undertaker in to face him instead because Vince is a 70 year old man. What makes no sense is that Shane was last seen in WWE 7 years ago and was on side with Vince and had been part of the McMahon v DX storylines too. Why suddenly come back and turn "face" on his Dad and Sister and have to make up a hastily thrown together storyline. You cannot suspend your disbelief. As if the audience is meant to believe that Shane just appeared back stage and walked out live on to the TV Show. And the production crew had his music queued up ready.

I had a think about how this match could ever be a success and then I thought maybe if Cena returns from injury early and interfers and turns heel on Undertaker and then teams up with Shane to run WWE Raw. But even then, because there has been no real build up, it would not mean anything. And the sad thing is I can see Shane taking some stupid bumps and it will be for absolutely nothing.

And can someone tell me what Undertaker gets if he wins this match? In the storyline and also from a character development point of view. It is ridiculous.

I was considering subscribing to the WWE Network in time for Wrestlemania as I have been a big WWE fan for 28 years now. But I won't be doing this because I am not encouraging WWE to treat their fans like dirt and produce this kind of garbage booking for the biggest WWE event of the year.

What shocks me is usually when Vince McMahon is backed in to a corner and has limited options due to injuries or people jumping ship (like they regularly did in the Monday night wars), Vince was at his best. And usually even when WWE is producing a poor product, then he always switches up a gear for Wrestlemania but not this time.

It is truly sad to see how poor WWE is getting

No?

I don't like the idea of recycling past storylines, especially when one of those storylines arguably sunk WCW even further, although I have to imagine they have some plan here. But it wouldn't make sense, as shitty or not, the New Blood angle made sense in WCW- where the older performers were holding down the fresh talent. But WWE doesn't have that kind of dynamic. WWE has their favored performers, but the Authority angle already made use of that.
