I just skimmed throught that Shane Helms video and a couple of things struck me in particular.
I find it a little bit funny that Shane Helms of all people feels he is in a position to criticize anyone in the WWE, past, present, or future. Don't get me wrong, I think Helms is a reasonably talented wrestler. But here's a guy whose entire claim to fame revolves around one of the more ridiculous gimmicks in the WWE. The Hurricane should really stop and think before going off on a tirade about anyone else, never mind doing so about a sure fire first ballot Hall of Famer. Helms obtained some success in the WWE, made a fair bit of money I would imagine, and got himself somewhat over with a gimmick given to him in the WWE. When the gimmick ran stale, he attempted to re-invent himself. When unable to do so, he was released. Then he was brought back, with similar results, only to be released again. Now he just sounds like a bitter guy who is pissed off with the WWE because he is no longer employed by them. Meanwhile, if the WWE decided to try to rescusitate the cruiserweight division and invited him back, he'd be tripping over himself on the way back to Connecticut. Guys like Jeff Hardy, Matt Hardy, Shane Helms, and others owe their entire professional careers, their name value and their financial security (if they still have any) to the WWE. Without WWE, Helms would likely just be another anonymous wrestler in the indies. He really should shut the hell up and be thankful to the WWE, rather than bitter.
I would imagine that this tirade is just setting the stage for a jump to TNA, along side of Jeff Hardy, Matt Hardy, Shannon Moore, Jessie Neal, in a drug influenced faction. I'm not suggesting this is by TNA's design, it's just that disgruntled and vocal former WWE guys seem to turn up on the doorstep of TNA regularly. If he wants the people at TNA to take notice of him, blasting the guys at WWE seems to fit the bill in most cases.
The thing that I marvelled at the most in his attacks of HBK were just how short-sighted it all was. As I understand it, Michaels has always been very vocal about his past. Back in the day, earlier in his career, I guess in the early DX days and pre-DX days, before he "lost his shine" or whatever the hell the expression he always uses is, he was an asshole. He freely admits it. He was drinking too much, doing too much drugs, womanizing, acting like a jerk, etc.,. He says he hit rock bottom, before finding his faith, his wife, etc., and changing his life. This has happened to lots of guys. I don't know how this makes his a hypocrite, to me, it makes him honest, humble, exemplary in character in terms of how someone can come back from the brink and turn their lives around for the betterment of himself and those around him. He would be a hypocrite if he was still acting like he was back then, and hiding behind his faith while he continued to be a drunken or stoned asshole. With the exception of the part about steroids, I imagine HBK would admit to most of the accusations about the way he used to be. But he changed all of that and should be praised for that, not scorned by bitter has beens who don't deserve to even be in the ring with someone like him. Plus, I don't see how being a hunter makes him less of a Christian. I don't hunt myself, nor could I ever, but I certainly don't feel that the fact that Michaels does makes him a hypocrite or any less of a Christian.
In my opinion, Helms should shut his mouth and worry about his own affairs. Talking trash about the WWE, after earning all of his professional success there, knowing that a return there would be the only way he'd ever achieve such success again, that in my mind makes him the hypocrite.
