Occasional Pre-Show
Please excuse me if this has been posted already; please move it to the necessary thread/forum. Anyway, its clearly obvious the Cena and Orton are the WWE's top faces and they both are the champs of their respected shows. We ALL know that Orton is pretty much better than Cena in EVERYTHING except merchandise sales; the E had to seperate Orton from Cena so that he could branch out and develop even more and lead the locker room and what not. These two are the biggest "active" draws in the company; they are similar to two WWF icons IMO: Hogan and Savage.

Knowing the history of Hogan and Savage and their WWF days, do you see:

1. similarities/comparisons with Cena/Orton personalities, characters, and abilities that we saw in Hogan and Savage

2. think that if there were two WWF shows in the 80s/90s that Hogan and Savage would be in the Cena/Orton mold

3. drawing/star power

4. how much Savage could have benefited more being away from Hogan

5. how superstars like Hart, Hennig, Rude, Bossman, Undertaker, Flair, and Warrior would have turned out

6. Which current current star would best suit the Warrior gimmick

What are your thoughts?

1. Cena and Orton pretty much suck charisma-wise, while that was the best part of Savaga and Hogan.

2. Savage would have been champion on Show #2 and Hogan on show #1, correct. Hogan would have probably never lost the title, because that other title would be skipped around instead.

3. Someone could have overthrown Hogan as the top draw, maybe Savage or Warrior, we'll never know.

4. A lot. Savage would be the top guy on his show.

5. They were all pretty successful, but maybe Hennig and Rude would have gotten title runs. I know Piper would have at least gotten 1.

6. This question seems out of place, but I guess Ezekiel Jackson.

Cena and Orton are both trash. But the idea of "what if" there were two brands 20 years ago is a good one. Let's see, splitting the WWF in 1991?

It would have been the SUPERSTARS brand and the CHALLENGE Brand.

SUPERSTARS (have the heavyweight/RAW mentality)

Commentators: Vince and Jesse (booth) Mean Gean (interviews) Paul Bearer (gimmick interview)

Championships: WWF Title, IC Title, WWF Tag

Superstars Roster: Hogan, Undertaker, Earthquake, Big Bossman, SGT Slaughter, Ultimate Warrior, Warlord, Barbarian, Duggan, Road Warriors, Demolition, Jim Duggan, Dino Bravo, Davey Boy Smith, Nasty Boys, Bushwackers, Sid Justice, Berzerker, Tugboat, Haku, Roddy Piper, Skinner, COL Mustafa, etc........

Managers: Mr. Fuji, Slick, Harvey Wippleman, Paul Bearer, GEN Adnan

CHALLENGE (Have the "wrestlers"/Smackdown Mentality)

Commentators: Bobby Heenan and Monsoon (booth) Sean Mooney (interviews) Brutus Beefcake (gimmick interview)

Championships: World Title, North American Title, World Tag

Challenge Roster: Randy Savage, Curt Hennig, Tito Santana, Kerry Von Erich, Ricky Steamboat, Ted Dibiase, Virgil, Power and Glory, THe Orient Express, The Rockers, Jake Roberts, The Beverly Brothers, The Mountie, Bret Hart, The New Foundation, IRS, Ric Flair, Greg Valentine, Jimmy Snuka, Rick Martel, etc, etc.

Managers: Jimmy Hart, The Coach, The Genius, Elizabeth, Sensational Sherri

Maybe there should only be one title for each division and have the champions go on both shows.

Man, that could have worked in 1991 huh?
