Salinas has left the building?

It's being reported that Shelley Martinez, aka Salinas, is through with TNA. We posted a message that was found on her myspace page earlier this evening indicating that she was pursuing other opportunities, and for those who did not see the PPV tonight, Mike Tenay announced at one point that Salinas was attacked by Jacqueline and could not be at the PPV. The story making the rounds is that Martinez was recently offered a role in an Italian film, and she told TNA officials that she would turn the part down if they increased her pay. They refused, so Martinez quit the company. TNA has yet to make her departure from the company official, however the storyline explanation for her absence tonight is being considered proof of her leaving.

One thing I don't understand is that she expected them to increase her pay so that she'd stay. Um, why would they do that? She's hardly a big star if you ask me. I believe she thought TNA would do anything to keep her. She must have thought she was bigger than she is.

Good luck on the acting, but seriously, I doubt she'll make it. She wasn't a great wrestler. Proof of that is TNA not particularly caring if she wanted to leave.

What are your opinions? Will this affect the company at all?

Lolz, I read that on the main site. They had a headline of TNA knockout quits or something like that and I opened the page expecting to see a name of some value, but nope, just Salinas.

I personally dont classify her as a Knockout, I see her as a valet and not a good one at that but at the end of the day I dont think that it will affect the company in any way shape or form and personally I dont give a hoot. I see Hector as being a better part of LAX (Please note that I have recently started watching TNA and am not aware of them in their heel days).

Correct me if I am wrong, but wasnt she employed by TNA after WWE gave her the boot? If that is the case then I think she has one hell of a nerve asking for an increase when she doesnt do all that much for TNA, and one could see her hiring as more of a favour(in exchange for limited name value sort of deal).

Although good luck with the acting love, chances are she is going to need it. TNA was alive before her and they will continue to live after she has gone.

Eh I wish her nothing but the best. In my opinion it was a relatively risky yet all too common business decision/bargaining strategy that in this specific case didn't go her way -that is of course if our assumed presumptions of her wanting to stay in TNA wrestling are even correct. Hell, for all we know she may have wanted to do the movie much more and said "F' it lets see if I can parley this into a raise." She tried to get a bit more money as she saw an opening to ask for it. TNA refused and she left to pursue other interests abroad. Nothing wrong or outlandish about that. I don't think she has any nerve to ask.

To answer the OP's second question, no I don't believe this will impact TNA, its shows, or ratings etc. If anything it's just a little less eye candy and probably no major loss.

I'd actually like her to eventually get back into WWE but that's because I prefer her punk/goth look rather than the barrio latina TNA gimmick. Obviously though Thorn isn't around to be the vampire and even more important there would still be a bit of heat on her with that Batista thing I think, and supposedly Vince just didn't "get her" as he only likes the more traditional barbie blonde look for his Divas.

But as I said before it's not a big deal, I just happen to think she was getting better looking (leaning out) and slowly developing in the business.

- As posted last night, Shelly Martinez is leaving TNA because she asked for a pay raise to turn down a movie booking and TNA wouldn't give it to her. It's being reported that she only asked for a $200 raise per appearance. TNA could have kept the former WWE Diva if they would have ponied up the dough.

Shows how highly TNA valued her if they weren't willing to pay her an extra $200. She wasn't worth it though. She didn't suit the team. She just dragged them down. I guess Konnan was right. She was more out of place than Hector Guerrero.

It's not like she did anything of note anyway. She was TNA's female Funaki.

Looks like Taylor Wilde just got another position open to her. I kid, I kid.. but seriously though.. she'd fit the part about as well as Salinas. I mean, when you look at the team of L.A.X.. she may of had the look with them, but she looked like Sam said.. a crack ****e. L.A.X. was a face team more importantly. It amuses me to no end that she literally tried playing the "I'll turn down being a movie star if you pay me more money" card. Who's she think she is, The Rock? I suppose the bright side to all of that truly is she should be making more money soon enough with the porn industry.. and the upside is that industry has a better outlook than T.N.A. right now. (I kid Disco, I swear)

Truth is though, this won't hurt anyone except Salinas, if even her. The company couldn't possibly lose any viewers over this except possibly a couple star-struck pre-teenagers who were hoping her boobs would pop out, or she'd go back to the Goth look and the very short skirts with that entrance she had.

She wasn't hardly (if barely at all) used in the Knockout's Division anyways, the only individual this will hurt (again, if really any) is going to be Jackie. Now she's gotta feud with Hector and that's just warped.

Other than that im not bothered and by the sounds of it neither is TNA. Didnt do much so it really is no loss.

The one thing i am worried about is that they might use this as the catalyst for the LAX break up that we have been hearing them thinking about recently which i think would be rubbish as they for the moment can do a lot more for the tag division that the already over crowded mid card.

I laughed when I read that Wrestlezone report. The fact that she even wanted a pay rise was ridiculous. She served little purpose in TNA. She couldn't wrestle and she was so damn annoying. For a face, she annoyed me more than what the TNA heels do. As somebody mentioned earlier, even Hector Guerrero looks more confortable and less annoying than what Salinas did. She wasn't very good eye candy as I don't think she is good looking at all. Her boobs were outrageously big and in my opinion, those two assets were the only things that probably got her a job in TNA in the first place.

As Will and Sam mentioned, Salinas looks and probably is, a ****ty crack ****e. She never did anything important in TNA or WWE for that matter. Wrestling just isn't the place for her. I heard shes done porn movies as well. TNA will hopefully get a slightly better reputation as they no longer have a porn star on the roster (well not that I know of). Acting seems about right for her, but I must say that her face is pretty damn horrible. TNA made a great decision in refusing to give her a pay rise because she quite frankly, didn't deserve it.

Now Hector Guerrero is the only annoying member of LAX. But I don't want him released for some unknown reason. He really suits fitting in with Homicide and Hermandez. It won't make a huge difference to the product at all as the only role Salinas had was to look pretty (even though she isn't) and to constantly talk to the camera saying random shit that made me laugh at how stupid she really looked.

Meh? I actually am i fan of Shelley. I liked her as Ariel and enjoyed her somewhat as Salinas. I have no idea why I liked her but I did. With that being said no big loss either way. She didnt do much in TNA and she isn't as good of a wrestler as most of the other knockouts so she didn't have many options. She will probably be paid more doing these low budget crap fests than in TNA anyways and that's the sad part.

The only time I liked her was as Ariel for ECW, but that was more because of her role. I actually have an action figure of that character to match my dark themed set. But, yeah, she's not all that great looking or talented. I barely saw anything of her in TNA and the whole latin gimmick that she had didn't suit her. As far as porn is concerned, I think she's done mainly fetish shoots. She probably is better off doing movies anyway. You can tell she has a lack of dedication for wrestling.

I don't think it's a real loss. TNA could use bit less female managers. If every single guy has a female manager it kinda loses it's "unique" feeling. Not to mention when they are hired with no obvious reason like Salinas and Scott Steiners Freak. I mean c'mon Midajah could at least talk, what is the black girl even doing?? To be perfectly honest, this is not a loss for TNA. This is more of a blessing. She was mediocre at best, and not the best looking Latino girl in the world. Sure, she had a rough street look to her, but she was only there as eye candy and was even bad as talent enhancement for the ladies division, which explained why she often was in squash matches with Kong.

The thing is that LAX is one of the most versatile groups that I have ever seen in wrestling. They started out with Konnan, Rudy, Machette and Homicide. Machette sucked and gets replaced with Hotstuff Hernandez. Rudy wants more money to broadcast, he gets replaced by Willie Erbina. Konnan becomes disgruntled, he gets replaced by Salinas and also Victor Guerrero. Salinas wants more money, who cares. So I doubt that losing Salinas, who was the worst member of the group, is a lose at all. if anything, it could turn out to be a gain as TNA could replace her with either a fresh face or a familiar face.

So with that said, there has to be at least a dozen female latino wrestlers who could do a much better job than the failed "Elvira" wannabe known as Shelly Martinez. TNA could search the indy circuit. They could search the lucha libre feds. Obviously anything would be quite the improvement. And if they wanted to run the WWE gambit once again, they could always look to just a few years ago when a young latin diva, who was well endowed up top, by the name of Lydia was being underused and underutilized. The diva never fit in there, but has the gritty look that would be a slight upgrade from Martinez. So Disco, if you read this, then feel free to accept the credit as you float the idea of TNA signing another diva to replace the talentless one that just left.

I was reading her profile on Wikipedia and apparently she decided to join some no name, nothing happening, indy fed (World Wide Women's wrestling) and she's already their champion. WTF seriously? She quits tna because they won't pay her more money to work in an indy fed for less money. Can someone tell me where the logic in her actions is? I'm just baffled here. I'm looking at some of her promos on youtube and the belt looks like a friggin replica title that they got from shopzone. The wrestlers don't even really look like wrestlers but more models and actors for internet porn clips. (but then again they do sometimes let their women wrestle topless.) I don't get it. She wants more money but yet goes to a fed that's 1 step up from backyard wrestling. Maybe there might be a method to the madness I dunno.

That WWWW fed was something she did while still under TNA contract, that is just a softporn wrestling fed and nothing serious. What Shelly quit TNA for was to be able to do movies.

She was offered to star in two movies being shot in Italy and I suppose she saw a big opportunity, and honestly I think I would take that opportunity too.

Shelly's heart is obviously not in wrestling but in modeling or making it big in Hollywood and wrestling was just a way to do reach the goal.

Have you seen any of her movies? If this movie was anything like her last 2 I think she would've been better off wrestling. I'm not trying to be hateful or anything but if she wants to do porn she should just real do porn and quit messing around with the softcore crap. If she's too scared to wear a pearl necklace or a facial or 2 (and not the kind you get at the mall) she should get out of the sex industry.

But if she wants to use wrestling to make it big in Hollywood and use wrestling as a springboard she should at least became a household name 1st. Nobody knows who the hell she is besides us.(wrestling fans.) At least Kevin Nash, Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, Goldberg, Trish Stratus, Stacy Keibler, Chris Jericho, Torrie Wilson, Amy Dumas, Hulk Hogan, Kane, John Cena, HBK and Triple-H became famous for their wrestling and became household brands that everybody recognized before venturing off into different projects.
